We cannot fix a toxic workplace. Don't walk, run away. I resigned 5 days ago, and it has been very difficult, as I am grieving. But, I KNOW that I did the right thing. Those losers do not deserve me.

Just did the same ❤ looking for a new job

I was mobbed in my last workplace and I quit. Got a new job, and the first week this gal started to overstep and boss me around unnecessarily. I stood up to her. She reported me to a manager. I met with the manager and I told them in no uncertain terms what I told the bullying worker and what they can and cannot do with respect to my activities in the workplace. I am setting the boundaries loud and clear from the start. We'll see how things go. The unemployment rate is going up so if the economy worsens it makes it more difficult to just walk.

The bully uses whatever tactics in whatever ways he or she believes will be subtle enough to go undetected but yet aggressive enough to cause the target to look bad. And, sadly, causes the targeted person to feel bad about themselves and to feel isolated from the group. Then, because the target looks insecure, others may join in, thinking, "this person isn't good at the job", or, "maybe there's something wrong with this person".

My parents were my first bullies, which made mistreatment familiar to me. This is why I agree so much with Henrik's message that once you see a pattern of red flags, you need to leave. Bullying behavior is very dangerous, and where it is tolerated or rewarded, there will be very serious consequences, and not just for the target. As individuals, we have to learn to identify the behaviors, and to reject them. Abuse and social isolation literally kill.

if you are bullied at work you are better at creating your own company because then you will not have to deal with jealous haters.

I went tru this and I overcame it... It is evil I can't describe it better but it's you against the devil who's using employee to do this.... The key is do not react , carry a small notepad and whenever they come for you write down what they tell you the time and date and don't say one word

I like the description ‘informal manager’. I used to know an acting manager once and she self appointed herself as informal manager.

If you stay on and fight that will cause compounding of damage.

Yes agreed to this point. I have CPTSD and of course from childhood but also from work. It definitely compounded for me. I didn't have the resources or support to up and leave.

So you have a boss, your boss climbed the ladder by stepping on people. So what does your boss do? He hires people that will do his dirty work for him. That's why this is so prevalent. Your boss is hungry for power, he lives for it and the only way he can keep control in his mind, is by knowing everything about everyone. The coworkers who seek validation will naturally become surveillance for the boss in order to gain favor. Your coworkers don't care because they don't know you, they just met you at the job. These people are very calculated, they know the only way to gain power over people is by a job title. that's why these people only hang out with people from their job. You have to ask yourself where are their childhood friends??

Great points. It seems very common in my experience also that the perpetrators have very little life outside of "work" and often have lost or are losing most of their friends and family in the real world, despite what their social media depicts. These people are the epitome of losers

Nobody in the real world cares if you're a manager or the head of some random company but they walk around as if they're millionaires. It gives them an air of supremacy. Of course this is all a delusion in their minds but that's how they really feel.

@@TheTeganOsmondChannel When it first starts happening to you, you're like yea these people are a little crazy but they can be cool at times, so you keep disregarding it, then the passive aggressiveness and subliminal insults keep increasing and increasing, until you say to yourself wow these people are really never going to stop. I ultimately had that realization, made my exit plan. One day I sent a text to my boss and told him I'm quitting and never coming back. Then I went no contact with everyone at work and that's how it remains.

This is true. Some people will believe that the way to job security is by allowing someone else to be thrown under the bus, so to speak.

@@Corina-dq2my Some of them do it willingly and some of them get incentives to do it, in the form of extra hours on their paycheck. When they want you out of there for whatever reason and they can't do it legally, they will make it so uncomfortable for you, that you will be forced to leave. You know what's going on and they know, you know what's going on. That's the loophole they use and you say to yourself, what have I done that every other employee hasn't done?? Just know you offended someone in that job with power. It could be them feeling insecure because you don't invite them to hang out, you don't speak about your personal problems or you have a different political view, or something delusional that they perceive as disrespect. You never know what these people because they aren't well psychologically. I feel sorry for them because I know it's something they can't control and you can tell it has destroyed all of their personal relationships outside of the job.

Fascinating isn't it? In many cases I've researched and investigated, the main perpetrator(s) have often been reported multiple times previously by many people who don't know each other, and are sometimes even known criminals and stalkers in their communities, but their companies will cover for them. In many cases it appears that a substantial amount of blackmail involving criminal activity is involved somewhere in the dynamic.

I am going through this. It just started with a new administration. I'm a supervisor from outside. I didn't know it was toxic when I came in. I'm close to retirement and think I can just wait them out. If I wasn't, I would be transferring.

Mobbing. I've seen that word or term in research articles. But when there is mobbing, it is when a bully or two have company.

8:03 I experienced this issue at 2 restaurant chains. Both had issues with money and product loss. I have reason to believe that mgmt were embezzling and stealing.

What should be pointed out; The Union, does not help the employee in Sweden, you have to take it by yourself to court, however, the damage claims are so low, it will cost more, than to just quit. Usually you can negotiate a severance package, 3 months, so you can get unemployment benefits. The issue we have in Sweden, is a culture of weak leadership.

Thank you for sharing this. In Canada, unionized and government employees don't have an inherent right to sue; it needs to go arbitration not litigation unless you can prove corruption in the process. Many folks have learned this the hard way. Great topic, I may do a follow up on this issue

My union was useless as well. I filed a detailed report and they told me it would be best to pursue 'outside' help....supposedly through the courts? Employment Standards will not help if you have a union, and the union is afraid of the company...or they are not afraid, they are in bed with them.

I'm from Canada. What is your advice? Same here being bullied, mobbed, gaslighting, harassed at the hospital for over 14 years. I've happened to be the top worker for 39 years and have never been suspended. These bullies are jealous haters and are very miserable people. Union, manager, HR and the police are all totally useless. Bullies are lazy bums and stupid managers are scared of the bullies. They say I'm crazy, I drink, I'm a stalker who follows women after work. All bs defamation of character. The biggest mistake since they removed disciplinary measures. They should arrest the bullies and fire the manager. Action speaks louder than nasty words. It destroys my reputation. I will never quit to make these lazy bums ever win. If I decide to transfer to another hospital and may start gaslighting, smearing and bullying me once again, I don't know all the new managers etc. like in every department like now. So best to not change hospitals. I will never let bullies try to control me from quitting. Just don't react and don't try to defend myself which will only go back and forth making me look even more guilty. Action always speaks louder than words. Just best to ignore them and let them find another easier target. Never let these low life lazy bums ever win.
