    Great video! This is a must watch for anyone using an angle grinder. He is only selling safe and correct use of a powerful tool. He also answered the size question for me. If they use a 4 1/2” for their tasks then a 4 1/2 is fine for me.

    But if the sparks shoot away from you this means if the disk binds it will send the angle grinder right back to you. Instead of pulling out of your hands which should be more safe. Or not?

    What disc should we use to remove polyurethane sealant from concrete contraction joints?

  • @ASCProcessSystems

    @ASCProcessSystems

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Pavan. We asked an expert fabricator on our team. He stated this isn't his area of expertise, but recommended investigating the use of a thin profile stainless or hard plastic wire wheel, or a composite cutting wheel. A steel wire wheel will most likely impregnate the concrete with iron and cause rust stains. He would not recommend using a concrete/diamond blade because that will cut away and alter the shape of the joint. Hope that helps.

    Sir I have doubt what if the RPM of grinding disc is equal to the grinding machine will the disc break or is it safe to do so pls reply

  • @ASCProcessSystems

    Hi. The general rule for grinders is the rated speed of the accessory (e.g., the disk) must be at least equal to the maximum speed of the tool. So, in general, it would be safe to use a grinding disc with an RPM rating equal to the maximum speed of your grinder. However, you should always review and follow the manufacturer's user manual for the specific requirements and safety instructions for your tool.

    I see in the video the angle grinder is 11000rpm and that cutting disc you using on the same grinder i think is 10200rpm. Is that difference not dangerous?

  • @ASCProcessSystems

    @ASCProcessSystems

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Dash. You're right. Using a disc rated for fewer RPMs than the grinder spins is not correct. The disc could weaken or break as a result. At 3:19 we show a cutting disc rated at 10,200 RPM. This disc is part of our training materials for the grinder class. We do not use it in our 11,000 RPM grinders. However, we understand the way it is shown in the video could create confusion. Thanks for pointing it out so we could clarify.

    can I use a 4.5-inch cutting disc on a 4-inch angle grinder?

  • @ASCProcessSystems

    @ASCProcessSystems

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Jojo. We can't say what applies to your specific circumstance, but here are some things to consider: You should only use a disc that is rated for your grinder. This is because of the guard, the RPM rating, and the disc arbor size. You need a guard that will properly sheath the disc; the disc needs to be rated to the RPM of your grinder (otherwise it could shatter); and the disc needs to have an arbor hole sized for the grinder spindle. If the arbor hole is not sized correctly, your grinder will vibrate and become hard to control. Additionally, using a disc larger than the grinder is rated for could stress the grinder's motor and cause it to overheat. Hope that's helpful.
