    1. List consistently 2. Ship your items on time and pack them very well 3. Take good pictures (make sure the lighting is good or brighten the pictures) 4. Describe your items ACCURATELY. If you aren't sure of something, don't put it in your listings. Only put what you KNOW.

    1. buy your inventory for as low as possible. do not be afraid to haggle 2. do not "race to the bottom" with pricing. sellers hurt themselves and each other by beating each others pricing on ebay 3. sell a variety of items. don't put your eggs all in one basket! 4. sell what you love! If you like it, chances are someone else does too!

Don’t buy junk look for quality reselling items. Take good pictures. It’s surprisingly something so easy can be overlooked when posting items. I’ve seen garbage laying around in pictures, grandpa sleeping in a chair in the background, even items photographed on people’s unmade beds. Package items securely. In the past if I cut corners on packaging it has come back to bite me. Lastly don’t freak out if eBay goes dead for a day or even a week. It will happen to everyone just ride the wave and keep listing.

    1. Make your main photo stand out. If everyone is doing it head-on, zoom in, angle your item, do it differently. 2. Treat it like a business, remove emotions. 3. Be willing to try new categories if the opportunity presents itself (always be open to learning). 4. Always evaluate the effort to sell before purchasing. Too much effort items just end up in your death pile.

Number 1 understanding the difference between listed and sold (sell through rate) Number two is understand shipping you can lose a lot of money that way, imagine how much money Dave is losing Number 3 Listing it's called a death pile for a reason Number 4 fast shipping, today I would recommend one day handling but I realize that's not feasible for everyone

    1. List list list. If your items aren’t listed, they can’t sell. No matter how good of a buy it was, it’s worthless if it’s not listed. Get rid of your death pile ASAP. 2. Watch your cost of goods. You need to figure out a healthy profit margin. 3. Organization. If you don’t keep organized you will spend more time moving things from point A to point B and back than actually listing or selling. 4. Customer service. Do your best to not cancel orders, package everything quickly and safely. Give your customers a good buying experience.

I paused before you said your top tips for selling on EBay so I could write mine. They are: 1. Buy low and have no attachment to the item 2. List quickly and at a solid price (not the highest, and not the lowest) with good pictures, excellent title and description and disclose any flaws or condition issues 3. Have good customer service (answer questions and ship quickly) 4. I had forgotten to add the 4th, which is to just do it! Love it, do it and find some way to improve every day.

Have not watched the video but... #1: If you want to make real money, then you have to put in real work. Listing for 6-10 hours on any given day is not for everyone. But it is a must. (Not talking to casual part time sellers.)

Both my stores combined stay around 25k 90 day total and I operate around a 70 percent profit margin. Listing 6 to 10 hrs a day and being a MUST is by far the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. That's only the case if your listing low dollar junk maybe.

High quality low quantity item area can list an hour a day with the same results. Also creating connections for quality are a HUMONGOUS contributor no matter what area you live in.

    1. Overall presentation - includes keywords, photos and description 2. Listing often and maintaining the listings - adjusting photos, shipping etc. 3. Packaging and shipping must be done correctly and quickly 4. Always be learning from those who have larger stores etc. For instance in the past year, I sourced items that I would have passed by previously. Now I listen, learn and apply. I'm only going to add two, but these are my best ones. #1. Communication with the buyer through personal, not generic messages, thanking them for their purchases. #2. Extremely meticulous and careful packing of my items ... I sell mostly very fragile, irreplaceable vintage and antique items, so when I pack, I do the "shake test" where nothing moves in my packages 😉

    1. Good items with a good sell--through rate and priced competitively, good photos, honesty in your description and photos (if applicable), and a good title. 2. Willingness and ability to spend a lot of time working alone and the motivation to do so 3. Finding enough good sources for items 4. Being customer-satisfaction driven, such as being willing to accept some reasonable offers, not overpricing your shipping, answering messages promptly, adequately packaging items so they will not break or tear, being willing to offer refunds if appropriate, giving customers good reviews if they are warranted, and shipping items promptly.

The items are very desirable. No need for promoting. One comp I saw today was 320 listed and 388 sold. It has taken a solid 6 hours of sorting and pairing to make sure things are as complete as possible. So here we go. 1. Buy desirable items with an awesome sell through rate. 2. Sell said items at market value or just a bit below to make sure you are seen on page 1. 3. Rinse 4. Repeat. Reality is it's hard to find home runs every weekend during yard sale season. Good luck everyone.

I do something similar in Intro the theatre, but I'm going to steal the lesson structure you shared and tweak my assignment for next semester and see if I get different results. My Ebay success top 4 is as follows: 1: There must be greater than 50% of reselling tasks that I enjoy. If I don't enjoy the majority of what I'm doing, I won't put in the effort needed for success. 2: Find good items I enjoy selling (running theme - enjoyment) 3: Take decent pictures 4: Provide realistic shipping costs

    1. Good items that people want, 2. Good initial pricing, 3. Fresh inventory, and 4. Good timing- by this, I mean a couple of things. One of these just sounds, well... terrible. But I am a part-time reseller who largely sells signed books. If a celebrity dies, it's important to get your item out there ASAP so that it is possibly one of the first ones listed once the news breaks. In some cases, if you wait too long, the market gets saturated with signed books for that person. On a less morbid and less disrespectful sounding note, timing is also important for selling event related items. If you want to sell Olympic items, I would try to sell them while the Olympics are ongoing and people are hyped up about it. Same for maybe Super Bowl or World Series items, etc. Lots of things sell year-round, but you can make an argument that some items may sell better when a related event is happening at the same time.

I think the 4 keys to reselling are (1) sourcing, (2) listing (descriptions, pictures, and prices) (3) customer service, and (4) logistics. Sourcing is more than just going to yard sales and thrift stores, it’s building relationships with sellers around your area, and finding deals before they get to the thrift store. My wife (and business partner) is really good at this, and she does most of the listings. I’m the “logistician”, and I make sure everything is inventoried and packed out well when sold. All 4 are important, but having good stuff is most important IMHO.

Without enough food there can be no civilization, written language, art, music, infrastructure, etc. Columbian - Maybe - I think the advent of literacy when people with brilliant minds were educated through the invention of printing presses made the age of exploration possible. Industrial revolution - Probably. Hard to disagree - But oh the suffering caused. I might make a case for the computer age and the internet - So many changes in the world during my adult lifetime because of it. And what of AI on the horizon?

Everything depends on where you’re at like starting out go with things you know about. You don’t want to be new and getting tons of questions and you can’t deliver. I agree with your list. I would also add you need to think of how much you can store and not to get in a hoarding situation which can overwhelm. I uped my shipping game after I started watching flipping junk because he used to toss everything across the room into a chair and I would shudder watching it. Someone asked him why he did that and he said that the post office was much rougher and now most everything I ship can take a drop kick and be fine.

#1 work at it - meaning have some sort of basic schedule (ex. mornings - offers, orders, shipping; afternoons - listing, cleaning or repairing: sourcing days - shift schedule to accommodate morning sourcing) #2 sourcing - buy correctly - set limits but be prepared for the good deal #3 learn stuff - buy in your comfort zone but try to venture out and learn new items. Watch other successful you tubers to learn about other stuff #4 Have fun - you will always do better if you are enjoying what you do. If you hate repairing or testing or cleaning - DO NOT DO IT - don't buy those items or if you do in a moment of weakness - donate them Obviously everyone has their own way to do it, but I have found this is a pretty good start-up plan for newbies. As they get experienced, they will find their own plan.

    1. Sell-Through Rate (at 90 or 180 days) 2. Title Structure (so more potential buyers can find your item) 3. Target Net Profit When Selecting Inventory (after COG, eBay fees, shipping costs, etc.) 4. Consistency (in daily listings.)

I love this video because I learned to consider the most important events in human history. I Wish I had learned that or had a class approach history in that way. Even as a college student, I never participated in a discussion of the most important events in human history. I graduated with 3 undergrad degrees and became an English and Journalism teacher. Why did I never experience such a fantastic approach to learning history? I love it! Thank you!!!❤

Among obvious you pointed out, good items, sell-through, discipline etc... 1. Aggressive flat rate tiered shipping cost (outcompete those using variable freighting rates) 2. Anything pre-owned the title listing encourages to read full description (avoid problems) 3. Using proper titling listing and description to target Google search ranking as Google is the #1 search aggregator for literally everything (does not mean use paid placement) 4. Professional personalized communication be that pre-sale, post-sale. Communication creates followers and repeat buyers. The same reason you've 68K followers is communication appeal. When you "Connect" with a buyer its no different than you "Connecting" with your students, friends, family. Build those ties they'll buy from you even if it costs more. As an addendum: My nephew is a Professor, history, theology, political sciences and I concur with you completely how fascinating deep discussions can be and the give and take of learning.

For some things you can get away without a desciption, especially if your items sell mainly to app buyer who can't see them anyway. (because eBay hides them) The carved in STONE 1. rule for jewelry and other detailed items: take pictures as though you have no description. Write a description as though you have no pictures. For me as a buyer, no description = BACK button, fast. It does take time, but it also means the seller cares, and those who don't care about a description may not care about anything else. Got burned one time too many. 2. Fair shipping charges that won't run the buyer off. 3. Know what you're buying before you buy it, when possible. (cheaper to not make mistakes in the first place, and while you're on your phone Googling another buyer is buying anything good.) 4. Don't go off the rails if things go sideways. Returns happen. Scammers gonna scam, eBay isn't known for its brains. Etc. For anyone wondering, I was a jewelry seller with a very restrictive medical weight limit. Five pounds packed. Period.

I agree with basically all of the lists here so I won’t repeat them. I will say that my #1 HAS to be discipline. If I didn’t discipline myself to learn, to list, to communicate with my buyers, to ship items on time, to properly source, then what am I doing here? We have a choice to do this the right way or the wrong way. Discipline, for me, helps me make that choice.

I've been buying/selling collectibles on and off for about 5 years in my spare time. The last year, I started really getting into reselling. My biggest issue is knowing how to find and research yard sales that actually have good items at a good price. I mostly find nothing worth anything or asking price is outrageous and not willing to haggle with me.
