The 4 Best Fabrics For Staying Cool in The Summer
What's up guys!
It's getting very hot out here in the desert of Albuquerque New Mexico! So what I thought I would do is create a video discussing the 4 best fabrics for staying cool in the summer. ☀️
#1 - Cotton
This one is probably the most used fabric in the summer and for good reason. Cotton is lightweight and very breathable. However, it does hold on to moisture much more than the other fabrics listed in the video. If you live somewhere humid I would probably use cotton sparingly because when you start sweating you'll feel sweaty all day. Out here where we have a dry heat cotton is an excellent fabric.
Quick heads up on cotton is it of course shrinks when washed. So if you're buying something that is 100% cotton make sure to take that into account when you're trying it on. You might want to buy a slightly different fit to make sure it still fits you properly after you've washed it.
Cotton also tends to get more wrinkled than a lot of other fabrics. You can buy cotton polyester blends to help reduce the amount of wrinkling and shrinking that happens though.
#2 - Linen
Linen is a GREAT if not one of the absolute best summer fabrics out there. It absorbs moisture very well and dries very very quick. It's a very loosely woven fabric as well which is what makes it so breathable. There are more casual clothing items you can wear that are made from linen but most of the time I see men wearing linen suits.
They look great and they're going to be your best friend when you're layering different clothing items together in the summer. I would probably recommend that if you own anything linen you get it dry cleaned DO NOT WASH IT on your own....DON'T DO IT!
#3 - Rayon
Rayon is in my opinion the most comfortable fabric on this list. It was originally invented to be an alternative to silk (which is also a great summer fabric). It drapes the body very nicely and made from very thin fibers. Those fibers are also made from a mix of natural and synthetic material.
#4 - Chambray
This one is amazing because it gives you a lot of the visual characteristics of denim but it's a much lighter fabric. It allows you to incorporate some very cool dimensions into your outfit even in the hotter months of the year.
Chambray is usually made with a higher thread count which is what contributes to its light weight and breathability. Denim itself is also made from cotton but it's very tightly woven which is why its such a heavy fabric. Another reason I'm a huge advocate of chambray is that it absorbs the moisture from sweat without leaving visible marks.

Ahh, I'm so sorry I missed this comment! Jeans are a struggle for me I wear them in the evening in the summer when it's cool but during the day most of the time, I wear distressed jeans if I'm wearing denim at all. Chinos and joggers are an excellent alternative since they're more breathable.
When did silk became comfortable in summer ... you need some grandparents advise.

Yeah doesn't it stick to sweat?
one of the best is cotton mixed with Viscose
Any tips for cleaning Rayon?

Rayon is made from cellulose fibers derived from wood pulp. A garment that is solely Rayon and not a blend need to be handled with additional care. Cold washes and hang dry is normally what I would recommend. If it's a hybrid Rayon/cotton blend then you have a little more flexibility.
👍
Snap! Can you talk about viscose?

Polyester is actually a very bad fabric for summer as it is not breathable at all, wearing one layer of polyester is somewhat equivalent to wearing 4 layers of cotton
Thank you very much, I wish you would have repeated all at end of video, I forgot, lol had to go back over and over.
