In the uk stolen merchandise gets sold off on a police auction & the money is either shared to victims or charity's & top end cars houses ect is put back into police resources to fight organised crime

For the question about the stolen lego... this happened at a relatives police station, they had several thousands worth stolen. He said they ask the stores if they want it back and if they say no then the police station that seized it will auction it off as a lot and the proceeds go towards the police station for training and supplies and whatnot. Every area should have a website where you can go and buy auctioned stuff that was stolen and confiscated by the police.

Often the stores can’t take the product back as they’ve already been paid out for it by their insurance company so the goods now actually belong to the insurance company. So the insurance company should actually be the ones to determine if they want them back or not but as they are an insurance company they don’t want to have to deal with them so just tell the police to keep them and they then auction them off to make some money out of them.

5:59 in regards to what happens with Lego recovered by law enforcement, it can depend on the situation. If we have a way to definitively say it was stolen from this place it may go back to the retailer or individual it was stolen from. From there if we can’t find a place to say it was definitely stolen from it may get donated to local charities, but only if we feel nothing was tampered with. Another thing is we do keep some on hand just in case we ever get in a situation where we have a juvenile that’s in our custody and we’re needing to watch for one reason or another and we feel like being nice to them we might break out some legos for them to play with while we figure out what we’re needing to do with them. (I.e. contact parents/legal guardians, wait for child services, that kinda thing)

If it was reported stolen and insurance claimed on it, then it would technically be the property of the insurance company. Larger insurance companies do have the ability to collect and auction off stuff that they 'acquire' in this fashion to recoup costs

Ask MandR: Now that the 25th anniversary of Lego SW is here, what would be your dream for the 50th anniversary?

Stolen goods get returned to the rightful owner, unless the owner refuses it for some reason (for example, if the owner has activated an insurance policy, it'd require a ton of paperwork that most just don't care to go through). In the case of LEGO and retail stores, IIRC from what I was told a couple of years ago, LEGO has a policy of asking the stores to return the stolen goods to them (since LEGO usually sends new stock to the stores). LEGO then "processes" the stolen goods (no idea what that means. I assume it's an integrity check to see if everything is in the box and probably repackage the items) and donates them. It may also happen that LEGO gives the indication for the store itself to donate the sets directly. This is the info I was given anyway.

Why are poly bags harder to find than normal sets?

If anyone lives in the Wyomissing, PA area, the Target on Broadcasting Rd has the Droideka, BARC Speeder, and Pod Race dioramas on the shelf.

The stolen Lego will most likely be auctioned off at a Police Auction, where they sell items that can’t or don’t get re-claimed by their victims.

Ask MandR: why will lego star wars not make custom/ more accurate lightsaber designs, mainly asking about the dark saber, when lego ninjago has tons of custom weapons and even dual molded weapons? Edit: to follow this up, now lego is making custom molded harry potter wands…

They want the blade to still be removable in order to "turn off" the darksaber, and I believe they are still doing the cylindrical hilt because they want kids to be able to swap blades and hilts of other lightsabers? I could be wrong, though.

The main reason they can afford more unique molds for ninjago is that they dont have to pay licensing so they use money star wars would use for licensing for new molds

Out of curiosity, does Lego still do Lego con? I remember that one year when we really wanted to see the new or at the time New UCS gunship at Lego con. I don’t remember hearing anything else about it after.

thanks for including my comment. i was thinking more inline with the taking custom builds till i remembered most are just stolen designs. however seeing you compare official Lego star wars sets to a fake version of the sets would be cool again not to mention the Absolute amazing destruction of the fake ones with all sorts of brutal methods that come with videos like that.

Ask m&r have you ever found vintage star wars legos at a thrift store or flea market? I was able to find a 2007 imperial landing craft and a 2006 vwing for 10 dollars. I also found a light up luminara for 2 dollars at a thrift store 🤯

I work in retail and if any of the merchandise is damaged during a theft we occasionally put it on clearance or usually trash it due to it being damaged

AskMandr: I have a theory about the current clone problem. This year Lego is only making 2 new clone designs - the others are reused - whereas last year they made 7. do you find it worth trading sets back in or selling? I have some sets that just gather display dust(looking at you Jabba's Sail Barge) and recently i found a box with boxed sets such as the droid fighter 7111, anakin's podracer 7171 and even a minifig pack 3340. Trying to decide if its worth my time trying to sell online or if the 3rd party brick sale stores are generally a good value. Is it worth my time?

This one is for the question about toys being based on other toys. Of course there’s a connection between all these things. Like if Hasbro or Kenner or somebody else puts out a thing and then leg sees it and goes all this is pretty cool. We should do the same thing. They’re gonna try to make it out of therestuff as much as they can and then then they can be Italian. I’ve got a snow speeder from 1979 like a snow speeder and I’ve also has have the toy the Lego snow speeder from a couple years ago and they look pretty close to being the same because that’s what you use.

I liked the Planets Series but the actual planet parts added extra cost with not much benefit over a polybag or microfighters. It seems like a nice idea to make the packaging part of the product but I don't think it works in practice (see also Darth Vader Pod polybag). They could've at least used some kind of "system" and given us a part that was easier to reuse like the regular half domes (used in the Mos Eisley cantina roof).

What do you think of using the terrain for dioramas such as the pod race set as pre-built settings for mocks. I think it is an accessible way to display small sets and create high quality scenes. Do you think Lego should create sets that stand alone but are easy to use as areas of pre-built terrain?

The new Boarding the Tantive IV set is also a straight rip from a Kenner toy. Kinda crazy that they get away with that. Also I think you missed a clip when you were going through the visual dictionaries- didn't talk about the 2014 version.
