so true, i loved playing with one build till i head enough VC for a new one but now i need fucking 400k to max a new one, and making a decent amount on VC this year is almost impossible, if your not a content creator you will probably stuck on 1-2 builds the whole year because no normal earner wants to pay hundreds and hundres of bucks just to try out new builds that "maybe" even suck xD.

@@DG704eastside I do play different games 2k isn't the only game I play it's just frustrating when this is the only basketball game we have that's decent and they take advantage of us bc they have nobody to compete with also not everybody wants to treat a video game like a 9 to 5 just so you can have fun online and let's be honest nobody really likes to play mycareer 24/7 if you do that's cool but the majority only play it for badges and vc which you don't get alot of anyway

It’s real hard to stay interested in a game that only lasts a year after you realize all the progress you made won’t even matter in September cause a new 2k will be out

The last realistic 2k would be 2k20, the fact that people are defending this game like their life depends on it is crazy to me that means 2k is doing a great job business wise. This game is poorly made from mechanics and animations not fluid at all random shot release timing, paint defense etc. i could go on. On top of that the game is way too grindy having to spend hundreds of dollars to barely max out one myplayer and not being able to respec stats just makes things worse. Game feels like a chore to play and really isn’t fun.

Agreed. It’s supposed to be a game , meaning I should be able to enjoy it. Having to spend countless hours to build an enjoyable player is not the move.

You hit it on the head. I think 2k23 is a great game. But I just turned 30. I got 3 kids now and I have been good in every 2k. At some point it gets repetitive and I feel like competitively I got nothing to prove. I'm learning to play casually now and leave the try hard days behind. Out growing things is a part of life

Definitely declining, especially for the casual fan. I used to play 2k almost everyday in previous years whereas now you’re lucky if I’m on it once a week. There’s obviously a lot of external factors around it but price to upgrade builds and shooting definitely pushed me away this year

I predominantly play myteam and I can tell it’s player base definitely is getting smaller. In past 2ks finding matches was never a problem but this year sometimes I’ll sit in matchmaking for over 10 minutes before I find a game

Imo I don’t think it’s dead, the game isn’t bad it’s the community cause you guys are dealing with the exact same thing (in some ways) 2k obviously did improvements no one can lie about that bugs ofc certain issues that’s fine BUT i would say it’s the community. Like it’s a basketball game what do you really expect when doing seeing or playing the exact same thing. That’s why I always thought 2k community is of the worst communities that’s just me, I played 2k14 on ps3/ps4 for the 1st time back than, than it was 15 didn’t play 16 played 17/18 than I quit. 2k community compared to others aren’t really on that lvl of others cause it’s dead ass at the bottom like bruh I’ll even put the call of duty community above 2k an mfs we’re dying/losing it all from swatting .-. I don’t think it’s the game it’s the people cause if we take fallout for example 76 was so ass Bethesda knew what they did but thx to the community from making mods an storylines an all an Bethesda getting back to what fallout is the shit is band together now You can’t necessarily say about casual players game declining cause of life an this an that an the other if it’s something you’ve seen within each year of a new drop for the game. I mostly play rec but me and my friends all have full time jobs and families so it’s hard for us to be on at the same time so I end up running with randoms. 2 minutes into the first quarter down 15 and the quitting starts. This will be my last year buying 2k.

I have a center, a PF, and a lockdown and I have fun on the game every day. 2k23 in terms of gameplay is the best basketball game I've ever played. it's not just 2k22 re-wrapped, they actually put a lot of good changes into this game.

Im basically a 2k oldhead, my first nba 2k was 2k11 and it was one if my favorites. Other notable 2k’s were 16 and 19. As far as 23 I actually have fun playing it but im also not overplaying it either.

One of my main complaints about 2k is how awful and just lazy their rating system is. It’s seems like they use some bullshit advanced stats algorithm and then just add attribute ratings to their most hyped young players undeservedly. For example they have LaMelo(72D) and Luka (68D) rated as much much better defenders than guys like Cameron Johnson (62D), Gary Trent Jr. (58D) and Tyus Jones(55D) etc…. That is absolutely terrible because those three guys are better defenders than Luka and LaMelo and it’s not even close yet they have it as the reverse. They also have Mikal Bridges and Wiggins at only a 73D yet Jayson Tatum is a 79 and there’s not a chance he’s better than Wiggins who shut him down in the finals and locked down a bunch of big names in the playoffs and Mikal Bridges was a DPOY candidate and Tatum didn’t even make an All-Defense team and was getting torched in the finals despite what anyone says or advanced stats he made some dumb ass plays on defense and was a terrible transition defender and meanwhile Wiggins and Draymond were treating the shit out of him on the other end lol. Love Tatum but his finals performance was embarrassing overall. And Bridges that should not even be a question of who is better on D. Another example of bad biased ratings is them having Luka as an 87 three point shooter as a top ten shooter in the league when he only shot 35% from three last season and a little less than that in the playoffs but LeBron has an 82 three point rating and he shot a slightly better percentage at almost the exact same volume. I could go on and there are so many poor, lazy, and biased attribute ratings it really shows the ppl at 2k suck at their job and only care about hyping up the brand of young stars

The game is dead because they split up CURRENT GEN & NEXT … simple. The game haven’t been the same since 2k20 let’s be real 💯

Honestly i reaally realllllyy enjoyed the game the first few weeks it was out . I made a solid build that i eventually was able to grind up and core all the badges i wanted and really get the build to how i wanted it to be ….. and then 2k starting doing all of these patches that just completely changed how my player felt on the court . One patch it was super fast , next it was sluggish . One patch i could dunk with ease and and easily finish with my gold posterizer and then next patch im getting my shit tossed . And so much more , they always say they dont touch gameplay but everybody collectively can tell when they do after a patch . People spend WAY too much money on builds for the builds to be useless or dominant based on patches . If they want people to spend 100 dollars on builds they have to make it consistent and stop literally destroying peoples builds with patches . This year most of all i feel less motivated to make another build simply because i dont want to spend another hundred damn dollars and then on top of that have to deal with a patch altering something that i specifically made my build to do and now its useless until another patch comes . Its honestly ridiculously inconsistent and a quick way to get people to undesire playing the game 🤦🏻‍♂️

Since 2k15, I've always tried to make an all around build. Shoot a little, layup, dunk a little, defend a little. 2k23 has stopped me from making it. No decent dunks, shots, defense, or physicals. I'm a pg with a 75 speed, let that sink in. Strength 28 vert. 65. Every other gave us a 99 stamina, not 2k23

Before I say what I am about to say I would like to make it clear I don't mind the shooting skill gap. Whites not going in is cool. BUT i feel like for the average player it really made it hard for them to really win. Another thing is a 6'9 with gold quick first step, 73 speed w ball, 80 acceleration being less than half a step slower than a 6'2 with hof quick first step 94 speed w ball and 94 acceleration makes it unbalanced. 2k20 had a good skill gap all around since ATTRIBUTES MATTERED. Playmaking glass cleaners were not as fast as PGs but they were still great builds. As a guy with a 6'8 they made every tall build so versatile its insane. Paint defense is terrible. Any build w a 80 driving dunk for quick drops off one and limitess takeoff on silver gets dunks through 7'0 centers. Game is GOOD but not GREAT. Also as a guy who plays stage who has to go against locks w 99 steal on 90% of my games, steals are not overpowered. The only problem I have is that people can get on-ball steal animations while I'm running away from them, that's it.

The game is just less interesting. I played last gen last year bc I prefer pie charts and I think a lot of why the game is boring is bc of the builder. Everyone makes the same builds and this system just caters to problem of seeing the literal exact same builds everywhere.

So what exactly constitutes the game as being “dead”?

I honestly think gameplay wise this is one of most enjoyable 2ks ever. And I will say as a casual gamer I can actually win more this year. My shooting 3 point % only dropped from like a 65% in 22 to a 58-60% this year. And I think fact it’s more IQ based instead of animation based helps me win. Like I have a lock and 3 PGs. I never get ripped by locks, but I sure get insane amount of steals with my players. I play more rec, but when Indont have anyone to run with I play theater. Rec is best gameplay it’s been since I’ve played heavily online

I’ve lost interest a bit the last couple of days. I usually play a few games in the Rec a day and today I played zero. I played COD instead. I paid for my first build and grinded the story and all for my two rebuilds. I did go on today to collect my daily stuff for VC, but that’s about it. People don’t even play through a full game on Rec anymore. It’s horrible. It’s almost pointless playing it anymore.

Wish there was an offline mode where u can make your guy any overall. No bc whatever for those who work a lot or can’t get on

I'm not going to lie this year is a scam all around the board from the builder to badge tiers to vc for player upgrades just a cooperate scam cause they know this is the only basketball game we have but the builder is very limited on creating something decent position wise now, the last 2 years it was power forwards with a messed up builder system now its the pg's with powerfoward and center heights 2k games use to have a perfect balance from what I remember, but the game is slowly declining due to what you have to create to fun and also due to call of duty dropping

i just don't get it i get slightly early slightly late with a 90 and still miss it the game is just weird. the controller is delayed almost like it doesn't actually control it just gives the illusion.

What's frustrating to me about all 2ks is that I play center and I always am forced to play the perimeter. I was at first excited that shooting in the game was more inconsistent, but now it's the same as 22 and the paint defense is worse. I wish 2k didn't only cater to guards

Facts, guards don't hit the center wide open in the paint. They rather shoot the contested 3, or rim run straight towards the big man posted up. Smdh

@@NCYungin Not at such a high a rate. If we are gonna talk about the league, how many games end up with 150 points per team. A somewhat low-scoring rec game has each team score 60 and each NBA game is 2.5 rec games. Offense is too unbalanced compared to defense

Well said video. I’m 22 and have been playing since 2k9. I just lost interest man. The last 2k I had fun on is 2k20. I play quick match causally.

The only NBA 2k game I played on console was NBA 2k10. Otherwise, I played 12, 13, 14, and 18 on PC. I stopped buying them after 18 because honestly, it pisses me off that the My Career single-player experience is locked to online, meaning, when they shut down the servers in just a couple years, you can no longer play it. And their game on a good day isn't worth 60 bucks, let alone 60 a year. I refuse to give them money until they provide an experience that allows me to play a full cinematic single-player experience without an online connection.

Why not look at actual player count numbers before calling it dead or alive? Gameplay is great, but it's pretty unreasonably expensive, so tough to know what's actually going on as opposed to just hearing someone's opinion on Twitter or wherever

As long as seasons stay in the game, 2k will keep dying fast

Honestly they just need to bring back the rep systems and old events and game might be alive again

It’s annoying everyone makes the same builds and run the same stuff at ante up like what happened to being unique and different

The game was broken at release 20 updates later no fixes

I like the game but this is starting to be to much a new patch every week it's cost way to much money to keep making new builds

I always found it weird that dudes would spend money on new copy and paste versions of this game just to create the same build as the build from previous games

The stage is dead because I’m order to have fun you avoid sweats lmao

The ones who says it’s dead is literally the ones who play for 9-12 hours a day to hit 40🤦🏿‍♂️U played it out bud😭

Nope, I haven’t hit level 40 once and I think this game is dying. I’m not gonna spend hours of my life grinding for terrible rewards

The thing is, I would actually say myteam is flat out dead. Cannot find a game in Australian servers for minutes and minutes. Agree that park is definitely not dead but again not what it once was

i dont play 2k on pc but the steam charts show that about 12000 people play 2k23 consistently. I would be a lot more if 2k cared about us trust me.
