THE 2GIG E-SERIES GC2E: IS IT WORTH UPGRADING?
The GoControl 2e alarm panel (2GIG-GC2e-345) adds a number of upgrades and enhancements to the original GoControl 2. Pretty much everything about the alarm panel has been updated and redesigned, bringing everything up to date.
ENHANCED SECURITY TECHNOLOGY
The 2GIG GC2 was out of date when it comes to security tech. It did a great job protecting your home, but with unencrypted sensors, it didn't protect itself very well, leaving your customer's homes open to cyber attacks. The GC2e fixes this problem with 2GIG's whole new line of encrypted sensors. More advanced security technology means more protection for your customers.
ENHANCED Z-WAVE
The Z-Wave protocol, used in the 2GIG GC2, is now 20 years old. Most smart home products on the market use the new-and-improved Z-Wave Plus. This allows for longer range, better battery life, and all around better functionality. The problem is, the 2GIG GC2 doesn't take full advantage of this new protocol. Once again, the GC2e brings a much needed update to the alarm panel, allowing full compatibility with Z-Wave Plus smart home products.
ENHANCED DESIGN
The panel has also gone through several smaller updates as well. The GC2e has a more modern appearance, louder speakers, a larger and more responsive touch screen, and so much more.
IS IT WORTH UPGRADING?
Everything you loved about the 2GIG GC2 is still here in this panel, but with a number of crucial enhancements. This is more than a cosmetic update. The GC2 was in dire need of a security and technology update. If you want to offer your customers the best protection possible, and if you want to be taken seriously as a dealer of smart home controllers, you really need to update to the 2GIG GC2e.

any ideas on how /where to tuck in the second module antenna so i know it wont get in the way of thr two screws that secure the panel to the back plate that’s mounted to the wall

Hi Tony, Which second module antenna are you referring to? normally these do not require the use of an antenna unless your wireless signal is poor in the installed panel location

Nelly's Security the two short antennas the one that slides into the slot in the left and the one that goes inside the wall, on standard gc2 i would stick it on the inside center diagonally on left of 345 mhz transiever and right of the battery clip, i just wanted to know since the gc2e has two screws that screw in is there another spot i can place it when i cant make hole on the wall to drop it inside so i dont have to carefully place it inside while trying to keep the whole antenna inside so it doesn’t get caught on the edges while trying to click the panel on to the back plate.

What version does the ts1 have to be to pair to the gc2e?

  • @NellysSecurity

Thats a great question and I have an unfortunate answer. The TS1 will work on the GC2e, however, it will render the eseries sensors useless and you cant use them. Therefore you would have to use the standard non e-series sensors if you wanted to use the TS1

@@NellysSecurity my question wasn't about sensors pairing, it's about what version panel does the ts1 need to be in order to pair with the gc2e

@@cardonaman Im not aware of different versions of TS1's. I know their are english and spanish versions but I doubt that is what you are referring to. Are you referring to the firmware version by chance? If so, I dont think it matters, atleast along our travels we havent ever had any issues with different TS1 firmwares working on the GC2e

  • @cardonaman

Yes sorry for the misunderstanding, the one we're having issues with is a 1.16 , it won't pair with the gc2e

@@cardonaman Got ya! Do you have the XCVR2 installed in the main panel? That is required for the TS1 to work. Worse case, I would recommending giving 2GIG tech support a shot, they are actually quite good.
