The 2025 Acura MDX Type S Is A Family SUV With An Advanced Blend Of Luxury & Speed

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The #AcuraMDX took the role as Acura's flagship model back in 2022 and it introduced the first-ever high performance #AcuraMDXTypeS. As the first #TypeS SUV in the #Acura portfolio, the #MDXTypeS borrows its 3.0L Turbo V6 from the #TLXTypeS and for 2025, Acura has made the #MDX more appealing with slight styling tweaks and an improved touch-screen infotainment system.

    Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope you all had a safe and relaxing holiday weekend! The Acura MDX gets subtle but effective updates for 2025 and while the pre-refreshed model was already one of the best looking vehicles in the segment, Acura made it even more handsome for 2025 and finally added a touch screen! If only they would just add a bit more power to the Type S model!

    I will say this again ....I have a 2014 Acura Rlx Sport Hybrid.... 377 horsepower 341 Torque... With pretty much all the features 28 mpg city 32 highway. I always had an Acura..I could get to go 0 to 60 in about 4.6 seconds in a 2014 !!!!!!! Acura is not really listening to their customers. All my friends have gone to BMW and Mercedes!!!!! Now we see why !!!!!!!!

    Nice upgrade overall, the new touchscreen system is especially nice coming from the touchpad in my 22. But I feel like the price is pretty high, especially for the Type-S. A CPO or used pre facelift Type S seems like an insane value for the money in comaprison.

    The other brands studied the MDX and made their suvs better. This suv was great 2-3 years ago but now it desperately needs a redesign. It gets the worst gas mileage. No hybrid. Has barely any leg room in third row. No air vents in the third row. The least amount of cargo capacity in the segment. No digital rearview mirror. Has more usb-a than usb-c ports. The base engine has less horsepower than its competitors. The turbo charged engine is underpowered too. I really liked the MDX but Acura has to update this car asap.

    You are right about the 3rd row air vents. You have to run the AC on a higher mode to push air back there in the summer. A big mistake by Acura. They should also make the rear seats recline for comfort. I wouldn’t have minded an 8 seater. Acura should have put 3 seat belts in the 3rd row too. One really annoying thing about this model is it shuts off after 10 minutes of idling no matter what. You have to put the vehicle back in drive and then park again to reset that function. It is totally stupid. I have to wait for my kids when I pick them up from school and other functions. It’s so annoying. Definitely a digital rear view camera would be nice. The Lexus TX is nice with rear vents, reclining 3rd row and electric folding rear 3rd row seats.

  • @flexonthadevil

    @flexonthadevil

    8 күн бұрын

    #1. No there are no actual "vents" in the 3rd row, but there are floor opens that blow the air in the 3rd row when you use the vent and floor fan setting. #2. 3rd row is a very tight space. Not even 3 small children are fitting back there. No need for 3 seatbelts. #3. Idling a vehicle for long periods of time is bad for the engine. it will starve the engine block of oil and will greatly decrease lifespan of the engine. Just press the fuel pedal after a while to keep it from shutting off every 5 minutes or so. #4. The 2nd row rear seats do recline. #5. 100% agree about the digital rear view mirror/camera. It's crazy how much they are asking for this vehicle, and it doesn't even have this feature that vehicles 10k less than this one has.

    That gas mileage and acceleration suck. Durango v8 is just as quick with same mpg basically. It makes no sense. A bigger heavier expedition gets same mpg and acceleration in a non sport model. This vehicle makes no sense, just buy a pilot and take to a performance center and upgrade the 3.5 engine with a turbo. So annoying this thing makes no sense.

    It does make sense. One car has 2 extra cylinders and no turbo and less torque. One has less cylinders and a turbo that requires extra fuel for extra torque down low. Any turbo car is going feel more sporty due to torque but the downside is always flooring the pedal and wasting gas. With big ol’ explorers or other SUVs it’s moms with a light foot and not expecting peak horsepower and torque at all times.

I own two Porsches for driving excitement... and neither is an SUV! 😉 (BTW, I bought a GV70 after testing all the competitors. The Acura didn't come close to the Genesis in ride quality, quietness, luxury or engine performance. I found the X3 and Q5 ride quality rather flinty. The Macan was not only a great driver's SUV. Ride quality was excellent, too, but I just couldn't justify the 30% buyer's "premium" over the GV70. OTOH, I do tend to agree that the 2025 GV80, even with the adaptive suspension, isn't as nimble and body movement not quite as well controlled as in the GV70.)

    The type S is a great vehicle for street performance. Handles amazing and power is more than adequate. We gotten used too Germans with high horsepower suv and somehow made that the standard for power. High hp not everything and not needed by everybody.The Mdx s is not made to de-throne them. Its a great balanced high performance SUV to add that spice to the everyday driving. Like a golf vs golf gti. Also historically with type s models like the CL and TL the type Models was enought bump and tweaks to set is self apart from the base models and increase street performance. Thats what the type S is about. Somehow we think type S should be the hardest of the hard core, where it never was meant to be. Its biggest flaw tho is gas mileage.
