Thank you. One quick question. Who supplies Subarus CVTs for the cross trek and legacy? Is it JASCO for all their models? I own a 2018 limited legacy and the shifting has been very smooth though I was surprised the trans fluid had turned dark at 60k miles and had to replace it considering it's a closed system and lifetime fluid.

I'm impressed with the updates for the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek but I'm disappointed with the horsepower and acceleration. Only 152 hp for a 3300 pound crossover? Seriously Subaru? A 2023 base Corolla LE sedan has 169 hp and only weighs 3000 pounds! Corolla may have the punier horn but I'll choose the faster Corolla any day!

It's refreshing and reassuring to see a review that is not overly critical of the 2.0L engine. I just purchased a 2024 Crosstrek Premium and have yet to drive it on any highway to assess its engine power, but I knew going in it wasn't a beast in the performance department. For the vast majority of my driving I'm confident the 2.0L will do just fine. Thanks for a great, comprehensive review!

I wish the outback would adopt the same center gearshift cupholder storage area that this has. That was my one dislike about my 2020 outback was the way the gearshift monopolized all the space there was hardly any storage space compared to my partners 2018 outback and the cupholders just got in the way. At 6 foot 7some of those tall folk need a little extra legroom or need room. It’s obviously much better in the ascent that I now own but if we ever got an outback again, that would be a major change that we would like to see is improvement in the center stack. Great review! I bought a 2022 WRX limited 7 months ago, and the dash layout looks identical other than a few things. The center console has so much wasted space! the armrest storage could've been bigger if the parking brake was moved closer to the dash or they couldve used a nicer plastic than what they chose... I also dont care for the thick C cladding on the front bumper. If that C shape was thinner like the way it looks on the outback, i'd be ok with that. I too am surprised and disappointed they didnt put the FA24 in the crosstrek yet.. and the turbo, people have been asking for for YEARS. Other than those nitpicks, a solid refresh.

I’ve also considered the Ford Bronco Sport, Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Cruz, and the Ford Maverick. I want something compact but off-road capable with AWD. I really like the overall package of the Subaru Crosstrek, but really wish you could get it with a traditional torque converter. I’m not a big fan of CVT’s. Also wish there was a trim level that offered the turbo flat 4 from the WRX.

Shame that Subaru & most other automakers still aren't going with a combo port & direct injection engine design, which offer preventative & operating/performance advantages over pure direct injection alone. Dealing with all the carbon buildup & professional sludge removal services at regular intervals will be a headache, since an engine requires at least some port injection for the fuel cleaning additives in the top tier gasoline brands to hit everything it needs to in order keep an engine fully free of carbon sludge accumulation.

I found the imprezza a lil small for my tastes, but evidently a boat load of other ppl love these things. in spirit, its basically a stubby budget A4 allroad/V60 Cross country. just commit to the bit, lengthen it a little, and bam, we have a mainstream wagon on the market once again. Subaru foreshadowed the death of the wagon, when they biggified the outback into a crossover back in 08. it'd be interesting if they were the company to revive it...

2021 Crosstrek Limited owner for about 15 months now...there's plenty of reasons why this model is so popular. Rugged, durable, capable, and comfy. I live in an area that sees a decent amount of winter weather and had absolutely zero issues navigating through ice and snow this past winter. Limited trim is very comfortable inside and it really feels like a quality interior. Zero mechanical issues so far. My only gripe is that I wish the engine was a bit punchier. I can pass people on the highway just fine, but it would be nice to have a little more power behind it all. The 2024 model looks like it'll be another solid vehicle from Subaru...if they'd bump up the horsepower and torque at or above 200 for each, I'd upgrade to a 2024 in a heartbeat! Can't say I'm a fan of that massive infotainment screen though...my Limited has plenty of screen space with nice physical knobs and buttons for things that don't need to be digitally controlled.

The take rate is usually less than 5% across the board these days. I get it. The comments sections are flooded with save the manuals! You’d think the take rate is much higher. But unfortunately for the save the manual trolls, they aren’t buying manuals. They are trolling the comment sections from their 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis while waiting to get those senior early bird specials at the local buffets.
