Join me as I take on the 30th anniversary of the Mountain Mist 50k in Huntsville, Alabama! This iconic ultra trail race, known for its challenging terrain and stunning landscapes, covers a distance of 31.4 miles with an elevation gain of over 4,000 feet. This year, the race presented us with an additional challenge - the weather. It rained the entire week leading up to the race and continued for the majority of race day, transforming the course into a mix of slippery mud runs and trails that more closely resembled creeks than paths.
Despite the demanding conditions, the event organizers outdid themselves, ensuring a fantastic experience for all participants. Their dedication to the race and the runners' safety and enjoyment was evident every step of the way.
