I think this is an interesting list, but I'm not blown away by it. I have just finished Not a River and it couldn't really convince me to be something special. I am currently reading Via Gemini and borrowed three more of the list from the library. I love to see Jenny Erpenbeck on the list. I've read all of her former novels and think her writing is very strong. Can't judge on the translation though. Talking about translation, I'm reading these books in German, if available, because it doesn't make sense to me reading them in English.

I wasn’t too far of with my predictions. I didn’t know Jente Postuma’s book was already translated!

Exciting to see Kurkov on there. Didn't know he had a new book. Recognized four authors and a book cover. Will have to look into the others before I get excited / disappointed.

I read Crooked Plow that I enjoyed a lot since It''s a very interesting story about slavery. colonialism. I also read The house on Via Gemito that It was a great surprise for me due to the depiction of an artist with a inestablity personality. I love The details and this books was one of the books that i wanted to be included in the long-list. It's very well-written. And Kairos was one of my surprises of the last year

Randomly I had 2 of these on hold from my library already. Go me! I read somewhere (Wikipedia) that Kadare has been nominated for the Nobel 15 times. He is rather elderly. Maybe this will be the book that gets him the prize.

this was fun, Bob! I happened to e at the library after this was announced in the US so I picked up the one book they had from the long list: Undiscovered. It’s probably the one, so far, that I think will be very interesting! I’m eager to explore the others to see what I want to read! I did read Kairos last yr and really enjoyed it. A very interesting book. And The Details last yr . I couldn’t get into it but that may have been because I was traveling.

My first time predicting longlist & managed to buy 3 previously; The House on Via Gemito, Not a River, Crooked Plow. Previously reserved 2 from library - Kairos & Undiscovered & picked up The Details from library last week. Read Lost on Me from library in January = 7 of the 13, delighted! 😊

I was a bit disappointed with this list TBH, too many sweeping political sounding books, not my cup of tea. I have two of them in the house though - The Details and What I'd Rather Not Think About. I may get swayed by some of the other titles as I hear more about them, but I too am feeling a bit overwhelmed by the prize lists this week and am okay with not adding another 13 books to the stacks- I want to read quite a few of both Women's Prizes, and the Stella longlist came out this week so I have quite a few of those collecting dust on my shelves already.

Totally fair! I’m about 6 books in, and I’m feeling mixed so far! But hopefully it’ll improve as it goes for me!
