The 2024 Genesis G70 2.5T Is A Legitimate Compact Luxury Sports Sedan From Korea

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

As the 3rd best selling model in the #Genesis lineup, the 2024 #GenesisG70 gets a new turbocharged engine under the hood this year. Pumping out 300 HP, this new 2.5L Turbo engine gives the #G70 the most standard HP in its class and with a RWD platform with available AWD, this vehicle remains a serious player in the compact sport sedan segment.

I would have to disagree, the taillights are the best angle on the 22+ refresh, but front is more cohesive on the 2019-2021 models.

I agree. I think the front looked really generic on the pre-refresh G70. I really love the slightly outrageous grill on the new one, especially with no front plate on it. Prefer the refresh headlights also. The only thing I don't care for is the black plastic diffuser out back. I don't think it looks especially premium. But overall, I'm happy with the styling. One commenter said the pre-refresh looks like some generic sedan out of Grand Theft Auto.

I think the reason the new Genesis design language on this vehicle looks a bit "off" because it wasn't designed from the ground up with the new language. The side/main body is still the old design lines, so it doesn't look as cohesive as the other models.

I think the current design is spot on. It’s unique and modern without looking like it’s trying too hard or looking weird for the sake of attempting to be different. It’s distinctively genesis and communicates a familial design language. This car had few downsides tbh, i had one for teo weeks and i loved it! If they give it a full digital instrument cluster it would be 100%, but im expecting big upgrades for the next generation, They typically listen to what buyers want.

From 2019-2021, you could get a loaded base engine model, only things missing were the Brembo brakes and adaptive suspension (and power trunk for 20-21 models). Price was also fantastic, just above $40K fully loaded, but now $50K and under equipped, and even on the V6 no more heated rear seats and adaptive headlights, value isn’t what it used to be. I would have to agree, the 2019-21 models looked better on the outside too, though I can appreciate the full LED exterior lights.

Spot on review. Bought a 24 2.5T sport prestige in Makalu grey - black seat & red stitching. Stg wheel just perfect, yes flat bottom would be nice. Feels solid and well built. Some nice touches like the passenger seat control in easy reach of the driver. So glad Genesis still making sport sedans. Stinger would have been my first choice if still around last month. One perk. Comes with concierge service - they pick up the car at your home/work and leave a loaner. Then afterwards return the car and pick up the loaner. Yes the back seat tight, so is the Lexus IS. This could have been a sharp coupe if Genesis ever made one. I prefer coupes as it’s just me & the misses. Oh and bought a AAwireless from Amazon which I stuck (dbl sided tape) off on the side and recommend.

Regarding quality, our experience with our Hyundai Palisade has been top notch (41k miles, 3.5 years), so not at all concerned. Perfect sub 50/60k car depending on engine choice. It looks great, there’s tech but not too much and it appears to drive well. A similar 4cyl Audi or BMW is gonna be over $50k. Even an equivalent Lexus ES is gonna be at or above $50k. Car prices aren’t what they used to be.

I’m probably in the minority that think this is the best looking of all of the Genesis vehicles. The curves of the design work better than the sharper lines on the other models. Also a bit disappointed that Genesis didn’t also swap the 3.3T V6 for the 3.5T V6

I get the feeling that Genesis invests substantially more into the G80 than the G70. Which, duh, it’s a more expensive vehicle - but some of the cost cutting (or outdatedness) of this car is a bit surprising.

I'm hoping the actual 0-60 is around 5 seconds flat. I say that because the Sonata Nline and K5 GT can do 0-60 in 5 seconds flat with a 290hp and 311lb ft version of this engine along with a DCT. They also weigh about 3500-3600lbs. I imagine the G70 2.5T weighs around 200-300lbs more, but I assume the AWD/RWD traction would help it launch harder. I'll be a bit disappointed if the car does anything more than 5.5 seconds when caranddriver or motortrend tests it. I know not everything is numbers, but this engine always impresses in any car its put in. Everything from a 3500lb FWD sedan to a 4900lb AWD luxury SUV, the engine provides a good amount of power and decent MPG close to the European cars, unlike the larger V6 engines. It's also port and direct injection which is nice. Caranddriver got 0-60 in 5.6 sec and 1/4-Mile in 14.1 sec @ 99mph for the GV80 that weighs 500lbs more than a G70 AWD. I expect good numbers from the G70 2.5T
