The 2023 MADAGASCAR Adventure Ride - Part 1 of 8

Part one of a 14 days adventure ride in Madagascar. In this video we start in Antananarivo, continuing to Antsirabe and Ranomofana. "Paved roads" only before we continue offroad. Nevertheless the paved roads in Madagascar could be very interesting - not to mention the traffic in the citys.
Hang on to your handlebars and enjoy the ride!

Det var första gången för mig i Madaskar, men troligtvis inte den sista. Underbart land för ett äventyr på MC. 😁

I took the same motorbike trip to Antsirabe and then diverted to Tulear 25 years ago. We had brought a Honda 500 XL and a Yamaha XT from Italy in ship containers. The roads are always the same, at minute 6 you have understood how to drive on the RN 7. They go around, you also drive for others, there is no point in trying to overtake the trucks, they are always right anyway.....It's a nice journey, I envy you

You never know. I walked around Annapurna, took a month, in 1985. Could be nice to do it again on a bike. 😁

This should be an interesting trip to watch. As a child, many, many years ago, I always had a romanticised view of Madagascar as it seemed so exotic. Of course with age comes a little wisdom and the reality is much different. The Disney films haven't exactly helped in portraying the reality either.

I grow up in Kenya and have been working in Namibia 20 years ago. For me this trip was a reunion with Africa. The coming episodes will be a lot more offroad when we go deep in the wilderness.

We used a company called Viaduro and they used a local company called Madagascar offroad tours. Unfortunately I can not recomend them. If you google I’m sure you can find a bike to rent in Antananarivo or up north, where most tourists go. You can off course try Viaduro, but we didn’t get the bikes we paied for nor the standard of hotels and our guide had never been in the area we travelled. If you see all the videos you’ll see whar I mean. Don’t let my answer put you off. It’s a fantastic country to travel by motorbike and the people are great. Get a GPS, make your track and go. Accomodation is easy to find. Good luck! If you are living in the neighbourhood of Alicante we could meet. I’m here alot. 😁

No Three Horse Beer, the one shown being served in the beginning of your video. I haven't found one Madagascar beer I like. I settle for Beaufort beer when I'm in Madagascar. I have a beautiful Madagascar woman I'm with from Antsirabe. The road from Antananarivo to Antsirabe you drove is terrible. I like Madagascar ok but don't know if I will like living there full time. I think I'm going to marry my beautiful Malagasy woman and live there 6 months out of the year and 6 months in USA. But I've got to work 4 more years before retirement.

@PerWassberg I mean there is good scenery along the route for sure but the road conditions are such that a 160 km drive takes between 4 to 5 hours.
