Hey Dan can you test ride a Suzuki b-king please? Your test rides are epic and informational mate
My mate works at Staffordshire Honda and says they're flying out the doors. There's lots of tech for the money and 90 bhp is enough for most people. Its not in your face looks which I get, they're not aiming it at hardcore riders, just riders. Well done honda, I hope this creates more riders. Great video Dan.

Do not question why the new Honda Hornet is so cheap question but why the competition are so expensive. The British public have been mugged off for far too long. I thank Honda for manufacturing a quality bike at a realistic price.
I went to the local Honda dealership yesterday and they had 2 Hornets, the black and red, and the white and red, and both were marked as sold. When I first saw the pictures online, I thought that it looked horrible but once I saw it live, I thought it really is a fine looking machine actually. Still prefer the CB650R look over iy though, it's what I actually ended up ordering. Thanks for the review Dan! 🖖
I was thinking of buying a Hornet as my commuter so took one for a demo ride and was really impressed, it's so much more than a commuter, IMO it was like an MT-07 that handles and is laden with electronic goodies, it's not quite up to the Trident's finish but still very good, undoubtedly the bargain of the century.
So disappointed that Honda didn't apply their neo retro styling to this bike, it just looks so dull and generic. Fantastic engine, great price, good tech and meh looks

Before you do... try get a 2004/05/06 model.... a far better build (if it's been looked after) as well as a true 4 cylinder carb'd Hornet. (Plus USD forks too) Or look at the CB900F Hornet.

@@N269 My first big motorbike was a CB600F 2004 model (second hand). In summary: It was just a basic bike with cheap suspension, heavy weight and high fuel consumption for its ccm (also no fuel gauge). Needed high revs to make sense. If you like time travel and want to go back to the motorcycle iron age, go for it. Nowadays, you can get better bikes for your money. And the new Hornet is definitely one of them. It's not how many cylinders a bike has, but if the whole package is well trimmed.
@N269

@@vasiliyt8600 Agreed that the efficiency is getting better. However, I disagree that the new TWIN (not inline 4) is NOT a Hornet.... That is my argument with Honda. Personaly, I have a CB600F-6 (and cb900F-5s) that have some mods - rear and front suspnsion, steeirng damper and after market exhaust. (Tail tidy etc with alternate discs, sperockets.... etc)... but still have the ORIGINAL engine/forks/wheels/electronics. It's beautiful.... not like the bastardized version Honda called Hornet 2007->now. Why dont' they call is a "Wasp"?? Or something to promote a new "breed"? This new one should just be called a CB750. Sorry, I can't identify the 2007->present "hornet" as a proper Hornet. Honda market these based on the originals... but Honda can do what they want to get your $$ Don't get me wrong. I really like Honda. I'll always prefer H over Y/K/S/HD(duhhh)/KTM etc, but I'm unmovable on my statement that the 2007-> present bike, that Honda call Hornet, should not have the name Hornet.
Great review as always Dan. That bike is bladdy amazing for the price. You get so much for the money. It does look like the CB500F's bigger brother but I can live with that. I still think the CB650R is one of the best looking/sounding bikes. I am not sure what one I would choose as they both ride differently. I am a sucker for a inline 4 though! I am very surprised by that PT engine though. Punchy and it goes :) carnt wait for the next review. Have a good weekend sir.
Was really looking forward to your take on this bike, and it didn't disappoint. Fantastic stuff, Dan! :D Hopefully don't have to wait for the follow-up video... ;) It would be cool if you did a comparison with the CB650R (I think a lot of people would like to hear your thoughts on that). Small note, it's a single cam engine, not double. Great review though Dan! I liked the concept/production/CB500 comparison graphic too.

I’d love to hear more about how this compares, on the road, to the 650 bikes. I was pretty sold on the 650r, but this seems a bit better for the street and normal highway riding. I’m looking forward to the in depth review!

I'd say the inline4 is better for highway riding. It really depends on style preference I think. On one hand you have a 180 rear wheel and the retro looks, on the other you have a 160 rear wheel, modern edgy looks and a butt ton of tech which I wished Honda put in their 650. And hopefully the 650 lasts another year or so, and that the black (cbr) version doesn't get a retarded blue paint job on the tank so i can get one with no icks in the back of my head.

the front headlight and the swingarm are the main problems I suppose.
The engine is a "Unicam" engine, presumably a single overhead cam operating both intake and exhaust valves. Not quite the same as a typical DOHC setup. I'm really liking this "more than a 650cc, less than a 850cc" class of twins, which also offer "more than a 650" in terms of the bones, with USD forks and radial brakes and a better chassis that can deal with a higher pace. And the prices are spot on.
Great video, bro...👍🏻
how is vibration at the handle bars, seat and foot pegs? I currently own 2019 ninja 650 which I love but I hate the vibrations that makes my hands go numb maybe I’ll upgrade to Hornet in couple years when people will start selling these bikes used
I upgraded from CB500F to CB750 Hornet a month ago and I'm really happy with it. What this bike offer is very good for the price, when you buy it, definitely get a quickshifter installed, it will make you love the bike more :D
This bike would be amazing it they just styled it after the Grom and called it Grom750. Cruise control would be nice too, I don’t understand bikes that have throttle by wire and no cruise control (my bike included).

I am fairly confident there will be a cl750 and a cbr750r before long. The engine seems great for all purposes across the board. Great to see Suzuki also joining the modern mid-sized fight. Only Kawasaki that is really lagging behind now with their unfortunately dull 650 engine.

I'm glad Honda finally built this engine (long overdue) but i feel like it belongs in CB650R. The Hornet looks more like it should have an inline 4 and CB650R/CB1000R need a punchy parallel twin with a 270 crank.
Would love to see this engine in a cafe racer style bike. Like their Neo Cafe.

Just going off memory, I think it’s sitting directly between the MT-07 and 09 as far as power is concerned. I’d assume torque is a similar story. There’s also a good bit of shared styling with the 2018 MT-07, and the 270° crank definitely won’t hurt sales. Not sure how the rest of the package compares, but with those numbers and a slightly lower MSRP than the MT-07, I’d be shocked if Honda doesn’t catch a decent share of would-be MT buyers.

I owned an MT07 for a year and a half, it wasn't my first pick for the bike I wanted but I enjoyed it nevertheless. It was a great overall experience, but I didn't feel sad about selling it. The one thing you miss out on with the MT07 is electronics, it has absolutely none, which was perfectly fine for me as it was my first bike, but I wouldn't buy it again while this bike exists. Just my 2 cents. Keep in mind, you CAN adjust the engine braking on the Hornet which largely negates the throttle jerk, but you can't on the MT07 and its known for it. Yep, can't argue with that.
I would mention the Aprilia Shiver 750 as a direct competitor to this bike, as they're designed pretty much identically, only the aprilia has a real V-twin engine in it instead of a crossplane parallel. The spread out pistons give the italian a bigger bore, more horsepower & torque (95bhp, 81Nm), but with less fuel efficiency and low end power - it needs to be revved a little before it wakes up due to the short stroke nature of the crank, but then it goes like a rocket. Both also come equipped with various riding modes and ABS, the shiver 750 is an older model and probably cheaper to find these days than a new honda.

Can’t wait to see the Hornet vs the 8S. Unfortunately I don’t think the Honda will make it to the US, at least not this year.

If Honda sells their 300's over there you better bet they'll sell the 750 and quasi destroy the 500's market share in the US
I’ve just bought one
Nice review. It's undoubtedly a lot of bike for the money but it's just lazy styling. Presumably part of the reason it's so cheap is the borrowing of CB plastics & equipment & for that reason I just couldn't get excited about buying & owning one when there's so much great competition. However it's still great value & lots of people will buy them no doubt.
Does it have the same Shifting as the 500x? -- every 10 km?
I cant really get the quickshifter to be as smooth as it should be. Downshifts are absolutly perfect. I mean truely, with closed throttle, the downshifts are orgasmic. The upshits are jerky with me. On all three settings. But this ís my first time riding with a quickshifter, so i might just have to learn how to use it better

Yeah, not that smooth on this one either. It's better at higher rpm and 2nd gear onwwards.
