SpongeBob behind closed doors was probably one of the wildest finds of this year

Jonathan Ross, a celebrity, comes forward with a physical arcade cabinet and offers it up for digital preservation? Massive points to the dude.

For fans of Mexican comedian Chespirito, Brazilians miraculously recovered two lost episodes of both 'Chapolin Colorado' and 'Chavo del Ocho' series from its classic 1970s run. 'Miguelito', a Brazilian clone of 'Chavo del Ocho' also had 6 episodes recovered from 22 produced that were never seen again since their first exhibition in the year 2000.

One piece of formerly lost media I haven’t seen brought up is 1972’s Voodoo Heartbeat. Mostly because not only was it found. But it was released and restored alongside 9 other previously lost films!

The Shrek footage was pretty big I’d say! That was my favorite considering how long people have been looking for it, plus it has an iconic meaning behind it.

Funny thing about SpongeBob behind closed doors thing is I met a King of The Hill animator who said they did that with their characters and many animators did. He even said that the put the pictures all around the studio and some kids came on a field trip and the show’s creator Mike Judge was angrily ripping down the pictures before the kids came.

Did you know in 2017 a lost film of John F Kennedy’s visit to Ireland was found. It is now online and fully restored. It was filmed by Peggy Walsh when the US president’s visited her home town of New Ross in June 1963. It has no sound but it's still grate and was to into a museum this year so people can see it on the big screen.

Fond My Mind (lostwave), the Shrek test animation, and Spongebob: Behind Closed Doors were probably the biggest finds of the year for me. Thanks for sharing

I'm only EXACTLY 15 minutes and 1 second in but it really makes me happy to see all of this lost media we've collectively been following for such a long time become preserved

The most "cringe" thing is rating a find low because you find it offensive.

funny how arguably the coolest find this year (que sera sera) couldn’t be covered because it was found literally the day this came out.

I’d love to see you cover all of the finds done by the lostwave community in December in one video, hearing about the three biggest ones practically back to back blew my mind

For me - the TOP story, without question, is Steely Dan's The Second Arrangement. Steely Dan fans and major dudes everywhere have wanted to hear this for 43 years. This was supposed to be a hyped-up lead single on one of the most prolific bands of the 70's final album. Alleged to be their best work ever. And the distilled essence of what the Grammy award winning band was about, from head to toe.
