The 2022 CED Workshop | Indianapolis

Ойын-сауық

One weekend per year a group of CED enthusiasts & collectors meet in Indianapolis, Indiana with hopes of discussing, repairing and keeping the overall memory of RCA's 'CED Videodisc' alive & well. Join us on our journey to Indy as we re-discover the love for the wonderful world of CED and learn about how & why it still means so much to us many, many decades following it's obsolescence.
IMPORTANT CORRECTION:
The Rockville Road facility was not in fact the RCA Headquarters. The headquarters was actually in New York. They also had a main office on Sherman Drive in Indy, which is what the facility in the photo was near the end of the video. The Sherman Drive building has long since been torn down. The Rockville Road facility, which is where we are in this video, was just a factory made for manufacturing stylus cartridges & CED Videodiscs.

What!!!! What!!! Wow!!! I do not know of anyone elsewho has one of these machines in my life. I am original owner from 1983-84. And own dozens of discs including Star Wars, Empire, Return, Superman 1 - 3...and thelist goes on and it still works and I still get such a kick out of this. Can't believe I found this video and page. I got the machine cause it was Stereo before VHS was Stereo for about a year. Primarily to watch Star Wars, and the sound was great! Thanks for this. - Toronto, Canada.

8:57 glad someone fixed picture on the widescreen TV from how it was a few minutes prior. It amazes me how anyone into old video formats doesn’t know the biggest difference between TVs from then and now, or doesn’t get a headache looking at a stretched picture. Incidentally one of the CBS Records pressing plants in Georgia also made CEDs for a while, then switched it back to making records in 1984.

It’s a workshop so nobody was ACTUALLY watching these movies but yes… aspect ratio is always a huge concern for properly viewing old video formats

This is the video that I watched on the website, so I found out about your channel. You definitely have my interest. I am an avid physical media collector and I have had some CED’s in my collection for some time and never really appreciated them because of a few KZread videos that told me they were garbage. The more I’m researching more and finding that is not true not even close.

Update/Correction, The RCA Rockville Road facility was simply a Factory. RCA had offices on Sherman Drive in Indianapolis, which would be the old photograph in the video. That facility has long since been torn down. The Rockville Road facility pressed all the CED discs, including PAL discs, as well as manufacturer the stylus cartridges.

I believe RCA headquarters was located at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.

Thanks for that! I also added this to the info directly below the video! Thanks Josh! Probably should’ve consoled with you first but it was late as I was wrapping up the last couple edits on this video! Appreciate ya!
