Like the young boy in the story, I too thought I am going to have a Rolls/Bentley when I can. In those days, Rolls and Bentley were partner companies. Eventually I was able to buy a new Bentley Turbo R and it was such a sense of achievement and finally having arrived. The car was wonderful, smelled fantastic as was very fast and sturdy. One big problem. There was something amiss with the electrical system. If the car sat longer than three days without being driven the battery was drained. My local Rolls Dealer took the car back many times and even modified the trunk to accomodate an additional battery. Nothing fixed the problem. I eventually wrote directly to the CEO of Rolls Royce and did not even get the courtesy of a response. The car was six months old and had 2,000 miles on it. With no help from Rolls or the dealer I finally sold this 200k hunk of iron to a wholesaler. Never again. I don't care if Rolls has a new owner. Buyer Beware!

I will own a Rolls Royce.

My wife wanted one of these. I said alright let's go look at what you want. Went thru all the necessary arrangements . She then , was asked What color she wanted for they are pretty much custom made to your order. My wife says " oh darling , don't be ridiculous I desire a puff baby blue " and I don't want to wait forever to have it done ! She likes the baby blue for everything in our home , well one of them that is , the one we spend more time at, is baby blue. She does everything in baby blue. I turned around and said ' if that's the color you want, I put my foot down and said " you can't have it " ! For everything you have is that color. She cried and said nothing. I chose the dark grey and we drove out of the dealership. Along the way , she says " oh honey I'm so glad you put your foot down and made me choose another color " . I looked at her and I said " well good because I'm the one who will be the one who drives this car most of the time " Oh dear ! I actually bought the car for myself. She can go get her own car.

For me the standard Whellbase are More than enough and I could be very sastified with it, my perfect color. Dark indigo blue.

I used to live in a swanky apartment building in Seattle. The underground parking garage was filled with Maseratis, Bentley’s, BMW, Lexus, Porsche, Mercedes and yes Rolls Royce’s. It was a super fancy ultra luxury apartment building. Not condominiums but an apartment building.
