The HondaOdyssey has long been a favorite among retail minivan shoppers over the last two decades. While sales have consistently held around 100k units annually, there's no denying how buyers taste have changed with so many moving to crossovers. For 2021, the latest #OdysseyElite gets some changes to keep it fresh amongst new rivals from Toyota, Chrysler and Kia. All #Honda #Odyssey trims get more standard safety equipment and updated styling on the outside this year, while the 10-speed automatic is now the sole transmission offering. Sadly, those wanting AWD will still need to check out the competition.

Good morning everyone! Incase you're wondering, we will be driving the 2021 Sienna at the end of this month and the 2021 Pacifica in the middle of next month! Until then, let us know what you think of the refreshed Honda Odyssey below! Should Honda have added AWD and a few more features to the Odyssey? Or is it perfect the way it is?

In 1999 when the second generation Honda Odyssey came out it was the first minivan to have dual sliding doors as standard equipment, on every other minivan, it was an option.
Say what you want about mini vans, but they're very practical and have more interior space than SUVs

For now they are. My concern is that Toyota and Kia may have started the trend of unremovable 2nd row in minivans, which defeats the purpose of the minivan. I just hope that Honda and Chrysler don't follow suit in their 6th gen Odyssey, and with the all new Sedona waiting, I hope Kia can bring the removable 2nd row back.

@ A KZread channel with no name That’s because most people think that buying an SUV will avoid them the embarrassment... when the SUV basically IS a minivan anymore. Just like people bought minivans to avoid the station wagon... which is DEFINITELY cool now.
Finally!!! A review of this car from Redline Reviews!!! I’ve been waiting for this since August.
I would love to see a short version with 2 rows of seats. Call it the ELEMENT.

Ahhh the versatile Element..... Loved that car, suv, van thingy
Minivan's, in my opinion, are a wonderful vehicle. They are the best road trip vehicles, and are super comfortable. I think they are a better buy then a SUV, and I don't care about status when I drive. I drive a car for being practical. I used to drive a 2004 Toyota Sienna. However, Honda's overall been the best. They have always had the best engine. If I were going to buy a brand new minivan, I would buy a Sienna. Why? The hybrid is in all trim levels. In this day people want to save time and money then stopping at the gas station. Although it took Toyota 10 years to redevelopment their minivan, it's a game changer that I feel is going to make them number 1.
Lol!!! Good job!!! I like the random blooper videos. Info is still abundant. Thank you!

I grew up with, and even learned to drive in, the 2001 Odyssey my parents bought brand new and let me tell you.. that thing HAULS ASS. And is surprisingly capable in the corners... for as big as it is. J series engines sound incredible too
loll i love the included bloopers cant get enough of em.
I can already see these being high school knock around cars in 2037-2040. Quite a few kids at my high school drove the same Odysseys that their parents got brand new when they were kids as first cars. My parents got the 03 Odyssey EXL trim when I was a little toddler and I drove the thing to school and even for my first year to University (pre covid). After having spent so many years driving and being driven in the 2nd gen though, I must say that I prefer its "simple" layout. You had leather, a solid dashboard, and a rugged drive. If you were lucky enough to avoid a transmission cruncher (ours didn't fail), then the 2nd gen was a good car. I even replaced the radio twice with Bluetooth and touchscreen units. I will admit that I even prefer the old Odyssey's design outside. It had a decent enough squared-off look that got around. Have to add that I see way more 2nd gens than anything before or after.
When the 6th gen Odyssey comes out, here's the #1 thing that Honda should keep: a removable 2nd row.
Full LED headlights down to the base trim is a large concession Honda gave customers

Yep. I like Honda.. but I hate how you can’t a-la-carte options and how for even basic stuff like variable intermittent wipers that my base-model 1986 Buick Skyhawk had they make you shell out for an EX or a Sport.
@jonathankleinow2073
3 жыл бұрын
I'd bet part of that is trying to earn the Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS. They're only giving that to vehicles that have headlights rated Good or Acceptable on all trim levels now, so if you have Marginal or Poor headlights on your base trim, but Good ones on the Elite trim, it's not going to earn you that award.
i LOVE the bloopers! XD and LOVE your videos

I kind of like them in the middle with this vehicle because... It's a minivan. Who takes it seriously.
The odyssey is still a champ but I do wish they’d add a pano roof and 360° cam given how large a vehicle it is. Also Sofyan’s right to question why there are blank buttons in a fully loaded model. I have a highest trim fully loaded Honda too and still have 3 blank switches for some reason.
@TheBreakfastLover

I can't speak for the Odyssey, but I know on other Honda products the additional blank switches are for the dealer-installed options that aren't on the top-trim model from factory (eg. foot-well lighting, exterior puddle lights, etc).

Hello. I like your videos Redline Reviews, keep up the good work! However, I saw that you now only have 720p60 and 1080p60 enabled (sure smooth)? Might be good to still enable the lower resolution modes as well for people like me having a slow 3Mbps LTE connection? Thank you.
That’s a lot of bloopers for a video lmaoooooooo!
I really think Honda needs to put 360 camera in it, I don’t understand why Honda reserves 360 camera only for Acura. I mean, many competitors have 360 camera on mainstream brands like Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Ford just to name a few. A large vehicle like a Minivan really needs 360 camera.
Oh my gosh, I am SO glad they got rid of that stupid 9 speed auto!
Have to say that I am really unmotivated by this "refresh" I have a 2005 Odyssey and was hoping for more. I wanted to look at this one as a possible buy for me and my family. Your recent video about the Sienna has me more excited for the complete redesign on the Sienna than for this one. I hated the previous generation of the Sienna. My wife will be a harder to sell for a change than me. Guess we'll have to try both of these vans. Man those second row seats are really, really thick 13:20, But I do like the seatbelts being integrated. Thanks for the video.

Yea Honda keeps things subtle and agree the new Sienna is a bit more of a swing for the fences. But if you've liked your Odyssey, this looks like more of the same and nothing dramatically new.
I would never buy a mini van but this Honda is a gem and has alot of features!

I said the same thing before until I started driving school mini van. And I can tell you this. They way more comfortable and much smoother than a suv
“9 speed been discontinued” praise the auto gods. Now if FCA can not put those aweful ZF 9 speed in every vehicle
I actually think the 2018-2021 odyssey is one of the best looking minivans ever built. Carnival is a close second but a little excessive looking. Then the new 2021 sienna xse
I dig the cool shots.
Your channel is very very underrated
Great review as always but I think the EX or EX-L or even the Touring, the reason being most Honda minivan drivers choose this trim the most, just like the Sienna is mostly the AWD XLE. Just a humble suggestion.
Great review.
The Odyssey is actually quicker than a Mercedes C300 AWD sedan, as per Car & Driver... 5-60 mph: Odyssey 6.7 seconds; C-class 7.1 seconds 30-50 mph: Odyssey 3.4 seconds; C-class 3.8 seconds 50-70 mph: Odyssey 4.5 seconds; C-class 4.7 seconds ...so in every metric outside of brake-torquing, the Honda is quicker. Unless the Mercedes plans on using launch-control or brake-torquing at every red light (lol), the Odyssey will pull ahead each and every time.

@@MelloHubb Imagine a Genesis G70 or Kia Stinger getting redlight ham-fisted by an Odyssey, lol... 5-60mph: Odyssey 6.7s; Kia Stinger 7.2s; Genesis G70 7.7s
I’m glad Honda went back to clean and simple front end designs
You did a review on the Odyssey two years ago and had the 0 to 60 time at 6.5 seconds. And you also praised the infotainment system. You stated it was responsive and fast and even better then what Acura has. What's going on it is essentially the same vehicle minus the facelift.
Honda has stepped it up! 💪🏾
After 28,000 miles I need two front tires, and the wiper fluid res is either small or it sprays a lot each time. I use a bottle every month maybe 3 weeks especially during fall and winter
much better with new transmission. I am excited to see what production version will look like for VW Buzz.
Nice 2nd row shots
Honda needs to step it up and go with all LED turn signals.

"You're not gonna racing people in this" Bisimoto : "hold my turbo"
If you needed an 8 passenger minivan, would you choose the odyssey elite or the Toyota xle? I wish I could get a higher trim in the Toyota with AWD, but they limit you at the XLE fwd with 8 passenger. Thoughts?
Every car should have a same vacuum!!!!! Brilliant Honda!!!!
This made me so excited that I bought a 2011... it has the bells and whistles at a fraction of the price :p
I'm just a single guy born in 1993 with no kids and want to test-drive one of these, because I just love Honda. I drive a 2011 Accord V6 EX-L w/Nav sedan myself. October 21, 2020 12:59 am UPDATE: Test-drive on one scheduled for Monday, October 26! I'll let y'all know how awesome it is. I've never even been in a 5th gen Odyssey before, been in a few 3rd and 4th gens. October 25, 2020 4:42 am
After owning the same 2001 Odyssey for 15 years, and running up the odometer 367k, I would like to purchase the 2021 or 2022 Odyssey to be my next vehicle. I'm not afraid of the Honda's less robust transmissions, after learning how to get more life out of them. If I bought a 2021 Odyssey, I would install a transmission cooler along with an external in-line transmission filter. I would drain and fill the ATF once a year. Then, when the transmission's warranty expires, I would use multiple drain and fills to replace 80% of the Honda ATA-DW-1 with the best third-party full-synthetic ATF I can find - a third-party full-synthetic ATF that is engineered for Honda's. Some people have driven their original Honda Odyssey transmission past 300k using only full-synthetic ATF. I don't want a Hybrid Mini-van. The 2021 V6 Odyssey is perfect.
Nice Review Of 2021 Honda Odyssey. 😀
The Toyota Sienna awd system is a joke. It delivers so little power to the rear tires it’s not worth the time of day. Odyssey is a much better buy. Especially since it has much more horsepower now and the 2nd row seats are removable.
If only we could get a van that combines the odyssey, sienna, and pacifica 🙃
The only thing I’m waiting for is 4WD... I’m ready to buy the moment notice.
The Odyssey is a good looking minivan. I still think a minivan is a better option than a large SUV and you don’t need a step ladder to get into a van.
Well, actually the idea of a vacuum on a minivan was from Ford with the Windstar Solutions
Can someone in your position give meaningful feedback to apply right away on the turn signals or the wheel arch lights?
This is better then the Sienna just because it's got a V6 still
Me n my wife just got the 2020 odessy..the second from the top of the line and it's a good van for what we need it for...the only thing I don't like is the ac vents in the second row..not a good position to put them...better on the roof..

For those of us without one, where are they and what are the downsides? (Haven't finished video yet)
Does this 2021 Odyssey refresh have a timing chain instead of a timing belt?
Haha this style of video was very different and refreshing
Also, they need VW Touran/Mazda 8/Renault Espace-sized vans (slightly smaller, European based vans) sold in the 30-40K range. That’s more than enough space for a family with two kids and occasional passengers outside the immediate family.
In 2023 there should be a 2023 Sofyan Odyssey😂😂

Honda's J-series V6 is just a fantastic sounding engine. The VTEC that it has just sounds glorious. Same engine in the Pilot and the Acura MDX, and I have no complaints about this engine.
Great van love the motor sound which I feel it’s faster than the pilot and odyssey. Sadly 2021 is fugly and 2022 is taking away the vac, I hope 2022 comes with another refresh with big upgrades possibly hybrid. This van doesn’t feel big I own it but it is roomy and agile, models with bigger rims ride harsher fyi.
I recommend to review the 2021 Honda Civic touring if it’s available

Not that I’m in the market for a minivan but not loving the refreshed front end. Idk it looks like something you’d find on the lowest end trim.
I would choose this over an SUV
"Whatever, it's a minivan". Loooooool. 😂
You should review Kia Sedona 2021, I heard there 9 or up to 11 passengers. There a lots thing been changes.
Its a Van! Lol. Its a kids hauler. After im done with my '19 Golf R. I'm gonna get a mini van, most likely this mini van. So much more practical, and way more features. You had me at "its got a built in shop vac!"

It would be nice if the Honda came back in awd because Chrysler did with the Pacifica and Toyota still has awd

Nobody needs AWD. Seriously. 25 years of driving Canadian winters in the mountains and I never needed AWD. FWD and Nokian tires. Drive calmly by everyone with AWD in the ditch who thought the laws of physics didn’t apply to them.
Lol that lever on the top right pull that on the 2nd row and the seat will fold toward and slide forward for east access to the 3rd row 😂😂
Road noise? Long distance seat comfort?
That's a nice looking vehicle and it's a minivan.........
Honda should fix the air conditioning placements instead of being on the pillars they should put it back on the roof . Other than that i like it its a awesome mini van 😎.

Haven’t experienced that. The roof ones on our Oddy worked well, how’s the new ones perform?
Those wheels really remind me of the audi gunmetal rotor wheels
The touch response is adjustable, just FYI
04:00 every SUV should Have it 🧹
I have to say for the price I’m surprised that the steering wheel is not power tilt and programmable as is the case in the Sienna.
The audio is awful, the gauge cluster is awful, the lane keep assist was awful. The engine was powerful and it has considerable hauling capacity (unlike Sienna). Pricing is about 3k less than comparable Toyota Sienna. I like the handling and overall drive experience of the Sienna better, but the Honda wins for space and power.
I think you exaggerated the part where the infotainment system is "very sluggish"... But it's only my opinion😁
i'm on the fence to buy this model. Im reading a lot of negative reviews about it.
I wish this had all wheel drive
