The 2020 Lincoln Aviator Offers an Honest Luxury Experience | Road Test

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Despite offering a wide range of utilities over the years, with the exception of the full-size Navigator, recent Lincolns have largely flown under the radar for luxury SUV buyers. Now, Lincoln is making a big push to change that. Following the just revamped two-row Nautilis, is an all-new three-row Aviator. Can it become a leader in its segment? Or does Lincoln just have their head in the clouds?

Even just from the exterior, there's an obvious amount of attention to detail. Seriously gorgeous luxury car Americans should be proud of.

It's not really a fair assessment to say its a Lincoln version of the Explorer. The old Aviator that was the case as it shared a lot of exterior components. The new Aviator shares a platform, but interior and exterior are completely different. It's like saying a Bentaya is Bentleys version of the Toureg.

New Lincoln's are beautiful machines, their interiors look gorgeous but I've read a few articles and seen on KZread some tests that show interior quality as not good enough. They look as good as a Range Rover but the image just isn't the same and I still think small capacity turbo engines won't last and are usually far less actually economical than a larger V8. They should do a diesel.

Jacob Nyambu hard to say, a fully loaded one is like 80k, at that price you can get the navigator. If youre okay getting a lower trim level with less bells and whistles you could come in around 65k, thats decent value for money and undercuts a lot of its german competitors. The options for this are just very tempting and I think contribute to a lot of the aviators appeal in the first place. And they force-package a lot of the options together so for example air suspension might be $2500, but to get that you need the reserve II package which is another $5000 and comes with stuff you might not want. Same thing if you just want to add a pano sunroof or larger wheels or their perfect position seats... Wish individual options existed bc this thing gets very expensive very quickly.

This is a Range Rover! American style. This standard Aviator has the same engine as the Ford St. So why don't they make as much of a fuss? If it's fast, say it!

Why? Why? Why do auto makers think that the tacked on iPad on the dash is a good look? It looks like such an after thought. So many manufacturers are doing this now. It’s no better than a teenage kid sticking his iPad to the dash of his Neon. Fail Lincoln. Major fail.

How is it a fail when every other manufacturer is doing the same thing and have been for years now? They all follow one-another, roughly.

That "look" is functional. Initiated and hated at Mercedes Benz first, it allows a driver to avoid dropping the eyes to see the screen. It also allows the dash to be design friendly eliminating the need to factor in a screen. Lastly allows the screen size to continue to grow in diameter. Actually the opposite of your statement is true. It is very thought out.

I have a Continental and the monitor is in the dash. I think it is better, but the smart minds have decided what they think we want and need. A decision not taken lightly I'm sure.

Not really. But it has okay performance. MotorTrend shows: 0-60 5.4 secs. (for regular & hybrid model), 1/4 mile 14.1 sec. @ 97.7 mph (regular) & 13.8 sec. @ 102.3 mph (hybrid). Braking 60 - 0 is 124 ft. (regular) & 119 ft. (hybrid). The regular model weighs 5,167 lbs. (can tow 6,700 lbs. ) & the hybrid is quite a bit heavier at 5,838 lbs. (can tow 5,600 lbs.).

Jaime Acosta I suppose. Cars, on average, are made of 30,000 to 40,000 individual parts and in 2016 alone there were about 72 million passenger cars produced worldwide . When you have that many cars with that many parts, it's almost a statistical certainty a manufacturer is going to have some defects somewhere. Recalls are the mechanisms manufacturers use to remedy those manufacturing defects.
