The $1850 Garmin MARQ Captain Ruined Other Smartwatches For Me

Ғылым және технология

I'm gonna say this right up front: even if we were talking about the best smartwatch of 2020, nearly $2000 is too much to ask for any wearable. But in the nine months since I bought the Garmin MARQ Captain for review, I’ve covered twelve other smartwatches - and every. single. one. of those smartwatches would be better … if it had "a little Captain in it."
Here’s five features from the Garmin MARQ Captain - and the Garmin MARQ series as a whole - that I wish every other smartwatch or wearable tech gadget of 2020 would steal.

I'm tempted to get one anyway, but I'd like to see the technology mature a little more.

While I haven't seen anyone wearing a MARQ series watch, I would say 40 or 50% of Navy Pilots wear a Garmin Fenix series watch. In some commands, they are actually issued one. I know of at least one story where the crew used their Garmin watch to safely navigate and land their jet when they had a malfunction and lost all of their instruments in the cockpit. And don't get me wrong, most of us would love the MARQ or even the D2 series, but they are hundreds (or thousands) more than a Fenix and they only have one or two features that the Fenix doesn't.

Every time I watch one of your Smartwatch reviews it makes me want to reconsider smartwatches, but when the video is over and the lust is over I remind myself that I don’t care about notifications, music on a watch, and that the watch will be obsolete in a few years. Still though, I love your videos keep up the good work.

I still use an Asus Zenwatch 2, and honestly I still get at least a day and a half out of the battery, and it surprisingly still looks perfect save for a couple minor scratches on the metal casing and functions perfectly connected to my Note 10+. I just wish Asus still made smart watches. And people around town still ask me about my watch if they see it, which is pretty cool. Keep up the great work!

Do you still have it? Did you wish you waited on the gen 2

@@soa2444 I do still have it…and while it would have been nice to have the gen 2…the gen 1 cost 2 grand…while I don’t mind dropping that and a little more on a traditional Tag or Omega. I doubt I’ll ever spend that much on a smart watch ever again. If anything I wish I had known they were coming out with the Garmin tactical…I do quite a bit of crazy shit…and that watch would be ideal for most of it.
