Really? I could use the help, I keep leaving roots from stubborn plants that either don't want to pull out, or are too weak for me to grab onto them well.
You should use the spare tire trick : place a spare tire upright next to the shrub, put the rope over it and pull. It will pull the shrub in a vertical direction instead sideways/horizontal, what is much easier and more effective!! Tom 😎

@@idadho roots can be a hazard one of my neighbors had a couple spots where the roots were a tripping hazard for him to get to his chickens while walking his dogs. I was kinda aprehensive about putting my hackzall through the hard ground (it's alot of rocks and gravel but I cut out the rough spots and trimmed the yard a bit including a lot of branches putting serious pressure on his power lines (don't try this I'm just sharing lol) it's always good to help someone in need. Good tip on soaking the roots the ones around here much like the trees seem to be made of steel and bulletproof. My dewalt chainsaw struggles when it gets halfway through the diameter of ~12" thick logs/trees.
that sawzall trick has saved me so much time and effort with removing bushes from my yard
Great video. Don't be scared of knots. Learn the bowline knot. You can always undo it. And It retains 80% of the ropes' origal strength. 👍👍👍

QUALITY DIGGING SPADES work great
"Don't drag it all over!" Schwarzenneger voice xD
Slip chain works great and no stretching or chance of the rope breaking!
Use a "Tree Protector" which is a part of a 4wd recovery kit..... It's intended purpose is to protect a tree when you use the tree as an anchor pint for a winch pulley... but works very well as a tree uprooter and dragger outer... I love Nissan gardening....

Sure beats digging!
I invented a tripod with a winch or come-along above to pull bushes straight up. That is the easy way to pull bushes. Btw, I started looking in to the design and someone beat me the idea. However, pulling straight up the beat way.
Good tip. Hard to believe but a lot of people just dont apply any grubbing techniques. I use them all the time. Finishing up clearing the back this year. Chain, rope and carabiner just like you said. I have removed small trees with the same technique with little effort. Once and a while a fence post but that's a whole different fiasco.
Dude ive done tha sawzall trick a handful of times over the years, mostly i use a narrow ditch shovel and work my way around cutting the roots. I have a super duper easy way for stumps, faster than a grinder at removal, took alot of stumps to figure out!

@@keith-kalfas try my stump removal techniques, maybe on a smaller 20-30" tree if you have a smaller saw. Clean back loose stuff, tip end of bar down and plunge in, work your way around it and it should be shaped like a pencil slightly. Then repeat the process from inside outward to get the outer ring below dirt level. With a backup chain incase I hit something, I can do a 30"er in about 4-6 minutes and very very little mess, if your ever in WV I'll show you!
Frick. I wish I would have known that sawzall trick like ten years ago. Been working harder not smarter all this time.
I upgraded my ford transit work van to a truck with a hitch. I’m excited I can finally do this instead of dig for an hour

You can do it!
I did this with fence posts that were concreted into the ground. Many were rotten and broken at the bottom so I bought a D hook and some 8in lag bolts, tacked that into the wood going into the concrete hooked up a tow strap and they came right out. My back sure thanked me.
Have the new home for the shrub ready to move in
You can use a running bowline at the shrub and a bowline on a bight at the hitch. Neither will bind up on you and work just the same.
Salute to your professionalism!

Just use a bowline knot. Ive pulled trucks out of ditches, stumps, straigtened walls and can untie them by hand every time.
Make sure you cut a water line and maybe a phine line too.
Man that f150 is a landscaping monster 😂😂😂😂
I throwba coat over the rope. Had one break and snap my back window once. Probably had to much tension but we were all young once. Lol
Ok that's impressive
TK U great job,I got the sawzall part the circular cut earth and roots
Thanks will try
Hey Keith, buddy, instead of the rope behind you, you should get a wireless winch. I did a big-time game chainger
Hey Keith.....there is this great knot that most arborist use its called a "running bowline" it definitely will hold more weight and tension then the carabiner.......and I also suggest this knot if using your arborflex in a crotch or false crotch situation....chances are your arborflex won't fail but a carabiner doesn't carry the load maximum that the rope tighted properly will.

@@keith-kalfas sometimes with heavy leaders we would have to use a screwdriver 🪛 to get it started on loosing...there's a improvise way in tying which it's quick release also .....and it's not like your dropping a 200- 300 lbs. Leader over a rooftop ....the two top knots your gonna see in the tree service industry is the running bowline and the Blake's hitch ....And anything above 10-12ft you should use a climbing belt with a steel core lanyard and helmet they say arbor chaps too but I'm in the south and Chaps are extremely hot....I used to do a lot of Coconut palms 50-60 ft in the air , every coconut bundle had to be roped down a lot of times these coconuts where on waterways that you couldn't get a bucket truck too .... Need less to say Tree trimming is considered extremely dangerous work .......BE SAFE OUT THERE AND ALWAYS USE YOUR PPE

@@keith-kalfas I wonder if a timber hitch would work ok if you didn't have a carabineer. The wraps would have to extend around the bush (three very long wraps to halfway behind the bush), but there's not much to bind on after it's cinched up.
Do to rope elasticity and being gentle this went well .
Try putting a 4' 4x4 under the rope, 2' away from the bush/tree, and UP she comes
Great tips
Isn’t there a knot tying on the carabiner? To truly make it knot-less, double over the rope and use a cow hitch. It tightens the more you pull and is stronger.
David Arquette does landscaping 😂
Right about the no knots it takes the strength and half and for safety you already supposed to take the strength in half in the when I took rigging class. But for safety, I just don’t want you using anything that’s gonna break even if it’s in bad shape.
You can also wrap a towel under the rope for cushion so it doesn’t dig into the shrub.

What if there's an irrigation system? Is it still ok to sawzall around the base to free it? Just go in at an angle of the roots?
So, no nuts! Got it!
