@@142doddy JLA Morrison run. He was on another planet. That dude with jet pack (and Zeta beams) was in the issue and of course the JLA was dealing with Darkseid. This was after the expanded roster was scaled down so STEEL, Plastic Man, Oracle, Orion, and I think Big Barda were on the team but not Huntress and Catwoman. It's been so long ago and all those books are in my mother's house.

Keeping with the topic, I just wanna say that I appreciate how in Superhero Girls they mention Lex Luthor as a ninth level intellect, which he is in the comics. The show has such a respect for their older audience, especially with all the obscure characters, and cracks at their own lineup of storylines.

Geff johns said that batman is smarter than Mr. Terrefic but tom king made batman so dumb that even riddler was stated to be more intelligent than batman and on level of lex (this doesnt make sense). Some writers made mr terrefic dumb too like he was stated to have an iq of 179 (even ted kodd has higher iq than him). So it depends on writers but generally out of 10, 8 writers made batman smarter as he is The OG. What intelligence feat did mr terrefic showed that bruce wayne didnt. From teleporters to time machine, boom tubes to dimensional rifts opener, AI's to reality manipulatiors, batman invented everything. Batman could even build dr manhattan machine (technically he was from other universe but our bruce wayne is smarter than that version so it actually counts.)

It's because Batman cracked the code to Darkseid's hellspores, so that they (Batman, Big Barda, Superman) could save Kara from his grip in the animated superhero film, Superman/ Batman: Apocalypse, released in 2010. Very interesting list. I think all cases were fairly presented and considered. I pretty much agree with the order you guys chose. And as far as Batman goes, I also feel like he has that same kind of comic book presence/symbolism that Superman has. Superman will always come out on top when it comes to strength, even if he isn't actually the strongest, because he is Superman and he will always find the strength in the end to become victorious. Batman will always come out on top when it comes to intelligence and planning, even if he isn't the actually the smartest, because he's Batman and he will always find a way to outsmart/outplan someone to be victorious. Justice always finds a way!

I remember reading a list and the top three intelligent people in DC on earth was as follows: 1. Mr Terrific 2. Lex Luthor 3. Batman I like that list. Its just too much to make batman the most intelligent person on the planet. Mr Terrific is a more exotic character that you dont hear about too much

No the explanation sucks. First off, the batman who laughs is a alternate version of batman so he does not count. If there is an alternate earth where batman is an idiot does that bring down the average? Second point is that BMWL outsmarting lex does not even prove that he is smarter than him batman has been outsmarted by almost every villain he has on at least one once. cxvxn he literally said his opinion. Honestly in my opinion there’s no such thing as no bias. No matter what anyone says everyone is biased because that’s just how it works. We all have opinions on things.

What about when lex said: I am the smartest person in the world,. Wait batman is dead right? That would go to admitting that bats is smarter.

I'm happy with Mr Terrific's rank. It was great seeing him portrayed in CW's "Arrow". A genius level intellect, who basically has a solution to almost any problem/situation. He's also a competent combatant.

DCeased is a non canon story. Lex was always known in the main DC continuity to be the smartest man. And he is. Doomsday Clock literally name drops him as the smartest man in DC. You can even argue Mr. Terrific and a few more to be smarter than OP Batman. But they aren't as popular.

Have you guys done a video on history of Superboy Prime yet? I was looking on KZread but had not seen one done by you guys. Others have touched on him but I like how you put your videos and descriptions together, and he is my favorite DC character - well him and Damian Wayne.

It’s not that joker is smart, it’s just that he is unpredictable. That makes him op, especially against batman. And he keeps so many backups BECAUSE he is going against batman. One must know, MOST villains do that, having multiple back ups. It’s just that the pattern or the way joker works is foreign all the time that batman cannot predict it. That’s why joker is an anomaly.

@Michael Terrell II First of all, Joker didn't exactly outsmart Lex Luthor and the Legion of Doom. I presume you are referring to Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV's Justice League issue #13? In that issue, Joker catches Luthor and the rest of the Legion off guard with his unpredictability. Luthor had a contingency storehouse in place, but he didn't realize Joker had discovered it ahead of time and took it off the board. It was unpredictability in this instance more than pure smarts. Also, please cite me an issue/storyline in which Joker outsmarts the entire JLA. To my knowledge, this has never happened either. As usually is the case with Joker, he makes plans ahead of time which he then unleashes upon Batman (and other heroes) when they least expect it, thus giving him a leg up and allowing him to keep the heroes guessing. I'm not saying Joker isn't smart. He is a genius in his own right. But, no, he is not smarter than Riddler. Even Joker himself has told Riddler that he is the one villain who challenges Batman's intellect and keeps his mind sharp (see Batman: Death of the Family). Also, saying Riddler cannot outsmart Batman isn't much of an argument. If Batman is truly the overall smartest human in DC, then logically any character will have an extremely difficult time outsmarting him.

Outsmarting several core members of the League and the Teen Titans does not automatically make him smarter than Riddler. That'd be like me saying I outsmarted a group of random people that Professor Steven Hawking never interacted with before, therefore I must be smarter than Steven Hawking. Also, most JLA members don't have half the intelligence as Batman (or Riddler for that matter), so it's a weak argument on its face. Again, saying Joker outsmarted the league in Endgame is disingenuous. He infected some of the leaguers with the Joker toxin, but we are never shown exactly how or when he does it. He infected them with poison, most likely when they didn't realize it, and It happens off panel with no explanation.

@Michael Terrell II The claim that Riddler is not able to outsmart Batman is false. He has outsmarted the Dark Knight on multiple occasions, including during the Batman: Hush, Batman: Zero Year, and Tom King's Batman: War of Jokes and Riddles story arcs, and in that latter story he even outplayed *Joker* by getting him to laugh again, which is what Riddler wanted from the beginning. (Disclaimer: I actually strongly dislike Tom King's Batman run; overall I think King went way too far off the rails in trying to do something different with the character.) Furthermore, Riddler has legitimately deduced Batman's true identity (see Hush), which is something Joker has never done. Joker had to hitch a ride on the Batboat and sneak into the Batcave in order to learn Batman's identity (i.e. there was no deduction involved). And of course Batman ultimately prevails against Riddler - same as he does against Joker and every other villain - because he's Batman. Lastly, and for good measure, the Riddler has even outsmarted the Flash - the fastest thinking character in the DCU and overall one of the smartest humans in the DCU (see Flash vol.4 #50). Bottom line: Both Joker and Riddler are geniuses, but Riddler is the smarter of the two. Joker's biggest strength is that, because of his insanity, he is somehow able to be more unpredictable than anyone. That doesn't make him smarter, it simply makes him more unpredictable. With that, I've gone on with this for far too long. Grace and peace.

Take Barbara and Tim off and add Silas And Vic Stone. Both are waay more intelligent.

Yeah, I'd leave out anyone in the bat family who's last name is not Wayne. Also, what about Dr. Will Magnus (creator of the Metal Men) and John Henry Irons, who aside from creating his own super armor, ALSO reverse-engineered Kryptonian tech for the Justice League? One of these two for sure gets Tim Drake's spot. The writers have to have him do something to onvince us that he's among the top 10 smartest,...otherwise you're giving him the same Moon Girl treatment that Marvel is doing for that character...

I think Terry Sloane( Original Mr. Terrific) should have been on the list. He has been shown to be one of the smartest people in the universe(Earth 2 before convergance).

DC officially established Lex Luthor, Batman and Mr Terrific as the #1, the #2 and the #3 respectively. How the other geniuses stack up below them is what's debatable. But personally, I would complete the top 5 list with Ozymandias as the #4 and the original Atom (Ray Palmer) as the #5.

I think it’s underrated how smart Superman is. He managed to read and fully understand 10+ years of medical education in a couple of seconds.

Batman maybe the world's greatest detective and a brilliant tactician but when it comes to scientific knowledge there are characters who are superior to him in this field like Lex Luthor and Mr Terrific, even when these guys were at a young age they were leaving the most brilliant scientific minds on the planet in the dust. I don't think that bruce was that brilliant when he was a kid.

I think jim gordon should be number 1 because he was able to outsmart and figure out that batman is bruce wayne in The grim knight Batman storyline that batman is probably as intelligent and smart as the batman who laughs but his less insane LOL.

Even Ozymandias said that luthor and batman were the 2 smartest humans in dc. With that being said DC needs to give batman his brain back from Lucius and Mr terrific is an underrated character.

@Michael Terrell II most people hate that he gets all the attention because he actually has to figure out a way to win without killing his opponents while everyone else can kill or has super powers. They only do this in batman's case intelligence=PLOT ARMOR while reed Richards and Black Panther come up with plans to defeat galactus and no one bats a eye.

@Michael Terrell II exactly but it mainly due to the fact that batman is MUCH MUCH more popular than them so they brush their achievements off as intelligence and boast about them later. Everyone hates number 1 be they are not number 1 it takes a lot of work to be number 1 that's why batman gets so much hate. When was the last time you heard someone say that they hate reed richards?

No John Constantine? I mean even Batman understands that John is better in planning that many a time the dark knight followed Constantine's lead. His so talented that he tricks gods and devil's, blackmails highly powerful entities and so on but no place here.
