Lauren Brown Not based off a true story. It's pure fiction. Though Fitzgerald's life and relationship with Zelda is easily seen in the story as himself being Gatsby and Daisy being Zelda. If you watch a documentary on Fitzgerald's life you can easily see how he got inspiration to write The Great Gatsby.

Fun fact: Nero was actually 20 miles away from Rome when the fire started. People in the UK were not half starved during WW2 thanks to rationing and 'dig for victory'. Average calorie intake was around 3000/day, and the health of the nation was massively improved due to poorer people having access to enough food to sustain themselves, richer people lowering their fat and sugar intake, and a general increase in the veggies people ate. About 75% of Britain's food at this time was home grown and it was illegal to waste food. Variations on rations were offered for differing dietary needs (vegetarians, diabetes, ect.) and for those who would not be able to have a cooked lunch (more cheese for sandwiches to take down the mines). 'British restaurants' were opened for people to eat at if they didn't have time to cook, and school meals were also offered to improve the health of children as many women took on jobs while the men were away fighting so were less able to spend all day cooking. Rationing in the UK actually became worse after the war as the UK played a massive role in rebuilding Europe. Some people have chosen to take the WW2 diet as a way to lose weight and get healthy, but it is worth noting that people were generally more active in the 1940s (possibly something to do with petrol/gas rationing, and the physical activity in 'digging for victory' - growing your own veggies).

There is actual evidence that Nero was not in Rome at the time when it caught fire. Nero was in fact at his Villa outside Rome with his second wife, his praetorian guards & handful of slaves, from the Villa he could see the glow of the fire's engulfing Rome. His guards and his wife tried to stop him going back to the city citing its to dangerous but Nero wouldn't listen and returned to the burning city. He opened his private gardens to the fleeing citizens of Rome so that they'd be away from the fires so as to allow fire fighitng teams to attempt to put the fires out. P.S. The fiddle wasn't invented till long after Nero killed himself, so doesn't make sense that he fiddled while Rome burned. The cause of this myth was the Roman Senate and it started after Nero was dead.
