What a year for film. I would put Planet of the Apes a bit higher. But man its tough at the top, with two of the greatest horror films of all time, two of the greatest science fiction films of all time, and one of the best westerns of all time.

some other movies i would consider maybe would be l´enfance nue, fando y lis, memories of underdevelopment, vargtimmen, skammen (this is bergman slowly arriving at his rawest & finest output imo) , lebenszeichen, the swimmer and faces ... dig the impersonations!

Nice to see some horror film representation with Night of the Living Dead. I always loved George A. Romero's zombie movies. I look forward to your 1978 video to see if Dawn of the Dead makes it.

Another western, "The Great Silence" is what I think deserves to be mention. I would recommend that if anyone haven't seen it.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but the last time I watched 2001 it bored me to death. I've seen it several times at revival theaters and it looks great but I don't ever want to see it again. I do however love Bullitt and Planet of the Apes. I've had the film If on my watch list for awhile. Maybe I'll try it this week. I can always count on you for a good British film I don't know about. I just watched Kes on your recommendation. Thanks, I really enjoyed it. This was the time period as a boy when I lived in the Ruislip Manor area of England. We moved to the U.S. in '72 so I missed out on the punk rock era.
