That was my thought…especially while traveling. As lots of people have their phones stolen. Just have to add an extra SIM card for it. I can also see kids/teens not allowed a cellphone & thus need one they can hide. Would just have to be careful where they were when they turned it on as that start up sound is loud & piercing! Wonder how long it stays charged & if it works well playing music from the microSD card. But if they can make watches that can make/receive calls & messages without being linked to a phone…unless a tiny phone can do a lot more than that it’s not that impressive. The now 2nd smallest had more significantly more features & functions. But yea…most adults who purchase such a phone are doing so for nefarious uses. Primarily as a prison or burner phone.

It runs java, almost all dumb phones use it. You can install some games tho, i think it uses .jar file format.

Some old smartwatches runs a kind of similar system. Also, they can make phonecalls, text and take photos. So, if you think, those models can be considered some type of "world smallest phone" with a wristband. I have a model called DZ09 that i used as my personal phone when mine got broken.

Kudos to the company claiming on the pamphlet that they dont update the phone. Most companies nowadays will claim to update their phones but never do anyways (at least on androids, i know apple is pretty good at updating older models)

I’m less interested in the phone size and more blown away by that camera I had to squint to even see on the back 🤣

This is the perfect size for a phone if you need it for emergencies while going on a jog or cycling (especially on long routes like racing bikes). Especially if you don't have, don't want or can't afford a smart watch that works with an (e-)SIM card. :D

Sony Ericsson made a much smaller phone than that that also ran android so definitely keep and eye out for that gem

Just looking at the dimensions of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 mini E10i online, it is nearly double the size of this. The phone in the video is 1.77inches, the X10 Mini is 3.26inches.

I wonder if, especially with having to press back and individually select each image, if it's based on the mini top screen of an old button flip phone, where the big new feature was that the back screen had very basic touch functions when the phone was closed, so you could answer a call or turn off an alarm

I saw your Shorts video and clicked here hoping that this was a smartphone. The bootup screen showed otherwise. This type of phone was popular back in my university days, but it's not something I'm looking for. You did ask what kind of person wants this? I'm an ultra marathon runner and carrying my bulky smarthphone with me on long training runs can be uncomfortable. After 2 hours it feels like a brick. On the 3rd hour I'd rather not have it with me. I do need something for emergency purposes, that allow me to contact someone. The smartphone part is necessary if I'm hurt, injured or extremely fatigued while on my run and need to hail an Uber to take me home. The lack of smartphone features would be great when going out camping or on hikes. It eliminates the temptation to keep checking on social media and you live in the moment, while still having the ability to contact someone if you're in an emergency. This tiny phone would also be great for very young children who the parent feels are not ready for social media apps. The parents can still chat to the kids through good old fashioned phone calls.

Phones have gotten so sophisticated and able to do things you’d never expect…and gotten so expensive, too. So perhaps we’ll see a popular return to tiny, less “loaded” devices like this. I personally use my phone purely as a call device 99% of the time, so one of these little devices might be just the thing for me.

Unihertz Jelly Star is technically the smallest DECENT phone ever developed. It packs an Helio G99, 128GB UFS 2.2, 8GB LPDDR4X and Android 13. So it is really small, but also smooth and 100% usable. I really love it and hopefully we will get the OLED Jelly3 in the future.

if you ever bought one of those 6 dollar "smartwatch" phones on ebay or similar, you'll instantly recognize the battery, the screen and the "OS", it's a bog-standard one they all use for 1000 various form factors, whether it be a "smart-watch" or mini phone, it's the same os and interior.

I was looking at the phone to see if there was a contact point or something, because that’s what I immediately would have assumed. If there is one we are just not seeing the camera would not work at all whatsoever with the battery cover off.

it’s odd when I tapped the speaker option it was only volume control. even recording I just couldn’t find speaker. also, my mom didn’t know it was a video 😆

@@johnzoid74 I ordered this off Amazon, but after reading this post about it working only one time, I cancelled it. I also have T-Mobile as my carrier. A one-time use phone is not worth much.

This OS might be probably J2ME and can play .jar games and apps (even some browsers) or there's small posibility it is Symbian but it should probably be J2ME based stuff.

The OS is java. If i want to find games type (ur game name) j2me download. J2me is a java file. If thise games do not work, type .vxp games download. Vxp is also a java file but for some ""different"" phones. However tge phone may not be able to install them. ( some java phones cant install games 😢😢) so if u find the games ger them on the sd card and try to install it directly ( in the 1inch phone) from the file explorer. Find the games and you should be able to install them. Then in fun&games your game should be there. Or on the home screen. Thats it
