Betty White is so old she was part of the first generation to work in Television. Her first job was a local station where she did live variety shows with her partner for three hours straight with no commercial breaks. The commercials were all in-show done by her and the other actor. None of the rules existed & they were just throwing things at the wall to see what stuck.

The book I had as a child (one of the Ladybird books which are probably mostly UK) she went by Chicken Licken, so the rhyming was maintained (and Henny Penny was there also, as the first one to join the panic parade). No Idea why it changed, maybe someone thought "Licken" was too provocative.

Another great video! I think you'll appreciate what happened to me the other day: I was at Target and they have the NECA Golden Girls figures. This kid, probably 10 or so, got so excited when he saw them, talking about how they could get them for his grandma and aunt for Christmas. The mom was going to send a picture to them, but he got mad and told her not to. Then he specifically said they could get Blanche for his aunt and the mom just sighed and said yeah, at which point I had to walk away for fear of busting out laughing where they could hear me. It's still cracking me up as I type this. :D

Who else screamed when saw the alert for Golden Girls video by PUR?

I vaguely remember this episode from my childhood. I know the focus here is on the ladies (as well it should be) but I suddenly realized watching this that the Fox is George Hearn aka Sweeney Todd. That is one EPIC show they're putting on for those kids! I gotta go watch this episode again.

Sophia cross referenced with King's Quest. The onliest place on KZread where PC gaming and The Golden Girls overlap on a Venn Diagram. This is why I love this channel.

I love every episode of that show, but something about Rue McClanahan dressed as a goose, it just gets me. Or Dorothy, she makes one intimidating Turkey.

The guy who played Foxy Loxy in this was in Sweeney Todd.

Grew up loving this show, along with Murder She Wrote and Perry Mason. I have to admit though, those Golden Girls had great pairs of legs...lol

This episode was worth the anticipation for the "Thank you for coming to my TED Squawk". The Girls as birds are so endearing, it's no wonder this show has regrown in popularity: each episode feels like a warm hug.

I'm a simple lady. I see a video by Roses about classic TV, I like.

roses, i have been going through emotional hell lately, and i can’t thank you enough for your videos. i love both your tv reviews as well as your gaming retrospectives: one i often find myself revisiting in dark times is your sanitarium review. a lot of the things you say in it are so insightful and bring me a great deal of peace. and videos like these are just good plain fun 💜

I’m really impressed that you took the time to find scenes from relevant episodes of The Golden Girls when you reference things like “heavier topics.” You don’t mention what these other episodes are about, but you very clearly know your Girls!

I also spent a lot of time at my grandparents house. I watched all the Murder She Wrote, Dynasty and Dallas. Just hearing the theme songs makes me happy ❤️

There had already been a Disney version of *Chicken Little* as a short subject in 1943, so this fit right in. And it's interesting Rose pulled the "clap your hands" move when the Disney version of *Peter Pan* did not.

This was the first episode I ever watched of Golden Girls and I’ve been hooked ever since

I'm very happy you brought up the fact that chickens are actually really intelligent. I own alot of chickens (not for food, I assure you), and one of them has actually learned how to use the dog door and comes in to eat the cat food every morning. She never makes a mess, and always leaves once shes had her fill.

Totally true about chickens being not stupid. I have three and they all have unique ways. They are Henrietta, she is the leader, Eva, she is the quiet one, and Naomi, she is the timid but also friendly. As soon as they see me they get all excited as I let them out for a bit. When I won't them to go back in, I speak to them, "time to go in now girls" and with that they start moving back towards the coop. :D

George Hearn (Frank Nann) was in two MSW episodes: Til the Last Will I Grapple With Thee and Wind Around the Tower as Jessica's friend, Sean Culhane. Rose is my favorite because she never lost her childlike spirit. One of the saddest episodes was when Sophia learns that her friend, Alvin, has Alzheimer's Disease. It's the same episode in which Blanche gives Rose's teddy bear, Fernando, (sounds like an ABBA song) to Daisy for helping out with a yard sale

I've been watching Empty Nest, one of the Golden Girl spin-offs, and it is surprisingly good. It is all up on youtube. Also watched the DS9 episode Rivals last night, and it is a similarly silly episode. The A plot revolves around a couple of conmen trying to one-up each other, with the B plot being a tennis competition between Miles and Bashir. Brilliant episode. "You begged me to stay!" "I didn't beg you, I blackmailed you."

It’s especially funny to me that you say you were too young to watch this show because my grandfather’s favorite show to watch with me was The Twilight Zone and my grandmother’s favorite show to watch with (very young) me was Married With Children. I would have never guessed that IRL, Sophia was (slightly) younger than both Dorothy and Rose.

I appreciated this episode more after I became more familiar with Broadway. Foxy Loxy is played by George Hearn, a former Broadway Sweeney Todd. When Hearn lifts that knife and fork and sings about how he's going to eat the birds, I think that must be a Sweeney Todd in-joke. (Hearn also voiced the villain in "All Dogs Go to Heaven 2," which also contained a "Sweeney Todd" reference.)

Dude the way that she reacts to this episode is so amazing. This makes her so happy and that’s amazing to see. Keep going on my guy I believe in you.

This is so amazing. I just watched this episode (AGAIN) on Hallmark channel. It is indeed one of my favorites. I didnt pay much attention to it then. But a few years ago I was in an accident and had to stay with mom n dad for a while. And this is when my love for MSW began. My mom taught kindergarten in a VERY rural part of South Carolina and would have the kids put on Chicken Little because their colloquial improvisation was hilarious.

This is my favorite episode. I've loved this show since childhood too.

Tony-winner George Hearn making a cameo as the director! He won a Tony for La Cage Aux Folles and is also Sweeney Todd in the filmed stage production with Angela Lansbury!

I loved Perry Mason from the age of 3. I would come home from kindergarten (half day), asked for lunch & sat down to watch "Mr. Mason" (what I called him).
