Ngl this sounds like a plot of a movie: A kid who is known as a dork because of his weird things that he does but. He moves too a new school where he seems cool but inside he isn’t because of his weirdness like throwin it back, but then he gets found out and he has to prove he is cool. This makes me feel better about transferring schools

I had no friends in middle school, and I was picked on every day. Graffiti on my locker, getting hit by boys, girls telling me I'm ugly, etc. My mother finally could afford a house and I had to change schools for 8th grade. I was so afraid of everything being worse because I was "the new kid". Turned out to have been the best thing that ever happened to me. I became friends with everyone in every clique, and because I had that kind of influence, I stepped in whenever I saw someone being bullied, and with my influence I was always able to stop it. I tried talking to the quiet ones and always offered to be their friend and would offer a place at my table at lunch, or let them know they could always come to me if they see me in the halls or whatever. I think a lot of them just liked being alone though. But, I knew I'd always regret it if I never offered anything to them. I wasn't the perfect kid or perfect student, but I always stood up for what I thought was right. Especially when it came to bullying.

This was the best feeling

This literally happened to me when I left a school, went to another one for maybe a month or so, came back to the VERY SAME SCHOOL and was suddenly popular for no reason whatsoever 😂

My nickname was sparky before I moved. It was something a girl called me and stuck. Everyone took me as a nerd/loner. New school, “hi, I’m sparky” “BRO! Really!? Cool!” Made friends non stop. lol wasn’t the coolest kid but it was a huge improvement from where I came from. Everyone needs a few chances to get it right (especially when you’re growing up).

The only thing that shifted when I moved schools was people became afraid of me instead of picking on me.... I'd say that was a nice change of pace, it means they left me alone.

Literally I had the opposite. In early elementary I was fairly liked, fell on hard times, had to move, suddenly didn’t have the nice clothes and perfect hair. Nobody liked me. Unfortunately, I went to that school (system) from 2nd-12th. I found some friends in middle/high, but was never really seen as anything other than weird until mid high school. Was never popular or anything like that, just somewhat tolerated sometimes I guess lol. I’m so glad I’m outta there

Just because one is poor doesn't mean they can't have class. Case in point, I was weird and poor, but never jaded. And not to brag, but I'm pretty cool. Well traveled, well read, educated, but never fancy. I have friends in Hollywood, New York and worldwide just through my experiences, and yet I live a humble life. So yeah, I'm pretty cool. Why did I let your comment trigger me? LOL😅

@wlb2j No worries. I too grew up poor and went on to be successful, educated, and traveled. Nevertheless, looking back I realize that the "coolest" kids were the ones who had a lot to deal with in their home life and the coolness was just a protective shell against the world. Part of it was they adopted toughness and adult behaviors more quickly which added to their cool aura.
