I discovered tool a year before lateralus came out and since then every musician I listened to has had to stack up to them and for the longest time I would not listen to anything but tool or apc. Tool Definitely helped mold my psyche and how I approach my life and decisions. I'm forever grateful for this band and the art they share with us.

In an interview years ago Maynard was asked if the money was good and how he felt about being a Rock Star. Maynard for those who don’t know is the singer of TOOL and also writes the lyrics for all songs. He responded if they can’t make songs that help people become better human beings or help them deal with problems and tragedies that happen in life then he wouldn’t be making music for just the money. He also says he does not like the term Rock Star and he sure doesn’t want anybody to call him that. And if you follow TOOLs discography you can tell he meant what he said.

Awesome reaction. Tool is my favorite band, all time. I'm 61 and grew up with Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Rush. Tool is the contemporary component I was looking for back in the late 90s. Every album, every track is so good and original, with such intelligent lyrics and musicianship. I would recommend next two songs: Pneuma and Right In Two. Enjoy the Tool journey, you won't want it to end.Btw, I've been to nine of their concerts and they are an incredible sonic and visual experience, if you ever get the chance and they're touring now!

Not a lot of people notice it's the ocean at the beginning and end of the song. It's as if the song maps out the struggle of human existence and possible ruin. We came (crawled out) from the waves and can be ended by them as well if we aren't mindful. We need to become caretakers of this planet instead of destroyers or all too soon the planet will take everything back and shrug us off. End of story. "Falling isn't flying, floating isn't infinite" are my favorite lines too. Great reaction!❤🤘

Other songs you should check out, Vicarious, The Pot, Lateralus, Sober, Schism, Wings for Marie & 10000 Days (Listen together, Part 1 and Part 2, Song about Maynard's Mother), 46 & 2, Aenema, and Right in Two are all great picks. All of TOOL's stuff is amazing but those are the songs that spoke to me. I'll also admit my guitar playing style is very similar to Adam Jones' style so I may be biased.

It's just incredible how, after so many years not putting any record out and them getting older, they can still output some timeless classics the way they did with this album. Most bands are only a reflection of what they once were once they are out for so long, Tool came back with an absolute banger of an album in which I can say some of the songs are amongst my favorites. Was a bit afraid it would be an "old tired Tool" playing mostly on nostalgia, but no. Sure, most of the album is a bit calmer than what they typically do, but the sound is so mature and the themes fit their journey perfectly. It's absolutely innovating on their sound, yet we can still easily call it a Tool album and know that its their sound, even they it evolved. They are really one of a kind.

This is your first song from Tool ever!? This is your first listen!? This song is to me one of their magnum opus songs the epitome of their career, their spiritual growth, their lyricism, instrumental skill and message to humanity as the tool of the light and love of the All! It was a long journey that involved many songs and messages like this that you would just truly love and make your own. I am so glad you found them and this message at this time in our lives/evolution/awakening/ascension! Great timing. I think you would love these others by them: "Right in two, Wings for Marie parts 1 and 2, Fear inoculum, Pneuma, Jambi, The Patient, Parabola, and 46 & 2." Just to name some of their more thought provoking. All of them are a journey including what we fans call the 3 song "Holy Trinity" of Tool. Will leave that for you to find out. Just beautiful. Thank you for sharing this experience with you. Made my evening. All the love and light to you.

The Greatest Band On Earth for countless reasons in my opinion... They are all geniuses, which is a big reason why it takes them so long to have an album ready to set loose on us, and they are always worth the wait...I was inducted into The Tool Army in 1991 when they were the opening band at The Big Mele on the island of Oahu, Hawaii and have been All In ever since... Have been fortune enough to see them multiple times over the years, and they just get better and better... That instrument you couldn't put your finger on was more than likely Justin Chancellor playing bass, like no one else can...Adam Jone's guitar tone, timing, and feeling is a world unto itself, Danny The Mystic Octopus Carey is the world's greatest drummer, hands down, again in my opinion, and of course, Maynard's mind blowing lyrics, powerful and unreplaceable vocals tie it the experience all together... Majestic, perfect word to describe them... TOOL ARMY FOR LIFE 💪🏽🧠🤙🏽

Wonderful aren't they? I love that you take the time to appreciate the lyrics. That being the case, do yourself a favor and listen to 10000 days and Wings for Marie. Technically a 2 part, it relates to Maynard's (lyricist and lead vocals) mother and how she fell ill. 10,000 days is the equivalent to the time she spent in a wheelchair, struck down in her prime. Judith Marie ( his mother) was a devout Christian, whose faith never wandered, despite her having been stricken down. The church shunned her, saying she must have done something to deserve it. These 2 are extremely powerful, and I caution you that it may well be a very emotional journey. Please, do yourself a favor, and take them in. There is also a subsequent song from A perfect Circle ( another Maynard venture) called Judith. Maynard has some strong views on this. To the point that they have only ever played these live 1 time I believe. It's too hard for him. Maynard preforms with every fiber of his being, as is evidenced by the 1993 live performance video of Sober...Chilling. New sub!

Jumping straight into an amazing band’s magnum opus. Definitely check out more. Their music always sounds like tool but each song is unique. I take the water sounds bookending the song as the earth was here before us and it will be here after us.

Tool. Just took my son twice in less than 2 years. Unreal experience. You also have a new fan. The fact that you let the music just play and comment before then after is so cool. I just subscribed. Thank you.
