As a swedish person, please know that midsommar is an actual tradition, and its not some kind of cult. I actually love midsommar, its my favorite tradition. We dance around a pole, eat traditional food and just hang out.

My daughter made a point while watching this. Horror is almost always shot in the dark. This movie is stunningly brightly lit throughout with cloudless skies. Makes it seem more sinister.

In Finland we call midsommar a "nightless night" because the sun doesn't go down anywhere in Finland. I guess that's the same for Sweden. It would be a bit weird if a movie named "Midsommar" would be dark

No jump scares. No slashers. No demons. No hockey masks. No dark houses. Just one of the most frightening and disturbing horror films I've ever seen.

The actual scene was very fucked up in her perspective. She saw her boyfriend having sex with another girl, not sure if she knew exactly who. I remember this scene, but I’m not sure if she knew who it was her man was “messing with.” At this point, I am confidently going call that scene a molesting scene, because we all know that her boyfriend would have never done that if he wasn’t drugged.

@@2939k_ He was just recently drugged. He was drinking a period drink and eating something with pubes in it, from that girl he had sex with. After his girlfriend became the flower queen or whatever, a guy took him to a shed or something and have him something to drink, which made me wary, then he got some stuff blown on his face, which completed the drug. Then he was like, in a trance or something and clearly he wasn't in the right state of mind with that drug he'd been drugged with. After his orgasm, he came back to reality and ran out that building. Honestly, this movie kinda makes my blood boil, because you are not going to get outvof there alive even if you wanted to.

The one thing I truly love about this movies is that it’s so disturbing yet so colorful

This scene was so f****d. Drugged and r***d. Dani was so beyond manipulated. The ending is so unsettling for this fact + him not being able to defend himself. I was more angry than anything tbh

I remember watching this scene where she's crying and everyone's crying together and being like " she's at peace" And legit was so weirded out

Dani looks in: - The women are clustered in a group, only a few intrepid souls are dancing with each other. The ones off the dance floor are looking around anxiously, as if something SHOULD be happening but isn’t. The guys are ALL standing against the wall like they are down range of a firing squad, trying to be still and not move, else they be forced to ask a girl to dance.

When I was 6 I saw the Exorcist at a sleepover which traumatized me literally for years. This movie I saw in my 50s & it just creeped me out & left me feeling really disturbed.

(Some spoilers) You know, all jokes aside, the last moments of this movie changed the whole perception of it. Especially her genuine smile at the end. I found it very ground-breaking how you can have a single frame at the end of the movie redefine what it all meant.

As someone who's never seen Midsomer, I'm both curious yet terrified about what actually happens Update: So many retellings of the actual scene, it sounds more funny/weird than disturbing. But, I'll be sure to check out the movie in its entirety, mixed reviews aside Update II: welp. That was fucked

Midsommar - the whole movie is unexpected, every scene. I still have recurring and random flashes of scenes from this movie and it just reminds me how great this movie was made. There are sooo many "oh my god" moments, even if you watch alone you will still be saying it out loud

I remember seeing the trailer and being like ‘ok, another occult movie, I’ll check it out’ then at the movies they ID checked me. Never happened to me before, but I was like ‘okey dokey’ I was shocked for a week after that. I was a lonely over the road truck driver at the time having serious relationship complications and it deeply disturbed me. Living this movie would be my hell.

To this day this movie still haunts me. Different level of eerie and disturbing and a movie that is truly unforgettable. This movie also gave me constant nightmares for weeks. I think there's an eerie feeling that stuff like this may and can actually exist to some degree with different cults and rituals around the world.

She was upset by all the electricity being wasted on those lights and stereo when no one is acutally in the barn

I think what makes this movie so unsettling its bcs everything is the opposite of what you would expect in a horror movie People are wearing white instead of black It's day instead of night It's sunny instead of rainy People are extremely calm instead of panicking They are friendly instead of aggressive So whenever blood appears or those weird events happen it feels so oddly out of place and 10 times more dangerous

@@lolibalto1410 its not that scary tbh, but ya it really break horror movie stereotypes that scary us dark and night, there's someone head crushed, someone burned, skinned alive, stuffed in a bear, etc. ypu can watch, it's literally a cult program to send someone and bring outsider so they can sacrifice and make someone the new leader of the cult.

Florence needs some more recognition for specifically this part, idk if she has any mental struggles, but Ik a couple ppl and me included when catching a S/O cheating she got it perfect with getting instantly sick and throwing up and the sound of her crying scarily familiar, it was probably my anxiety that causes this idk exactly what but I’ve been in a situation where catching someone cheating and just instantly a pit in my stomach and throwing up and she did that so well I haven’t seen a movie yet that involved cheating and having the person act this in disbelief and grief she performed it the best I’ve seen

I haven't even seen Midsommar I don't know why I clicked on this

As soon as I heard the song and realized where this ist going, the day was saved lol

The uplifting overall atmosphere with its lush green fields and never ending sunshine made it hard for me to understand the horror those tourist were going through. The content is disturbing. but delivery of it is lighthearted.

SUCH a good film. It really does do a wonder of showing just how people get indoctrinated into cults... especially with the 'love bombing' that happens to Dani shortly after this scene.

Yes and no. I watched it in theaters and that part was so uncomfortable I really considered leaving, in fact another couple in the theatre did leave. Since then I have never watched that scene again when I rewatch the film because it really just makes me queasy even thinking about it. But it’s really not that same. Without the scene the film sort of lacks the overwhelming feelings that pour out during the finale. So even though I hate that scene I’ll admit the film doesn’t hit the same without it. You couldn’t pay me to watch it again though lmao

As someone who has actually seen the film, thank you for rectifying this scene. The actual context for this scene is so genuinely fucked up and horrifying. Both this edit and movie get a 10/10.

This song, for Japanese niconico-douga people/otaku, we have a whole new meaning to it….we call it the ウーッウーッウマウマ (u-u-umauma) kzread.info/dash/bejne/poqjrbeqnKrKmJc.html It goes back to the year 2008… We somehow hear “バルサミコ酢(balsamic vinegar)” at the beginning of the chorus.

Christian was partying while playing the Xbox and the game was so gory it triggered a panic attack. I refuse to believe anything else.

The way this film made me feel sad, anger and fear is what freaked me out the most and how it just messes with ur head

Ari aster is a great comedian. I watched hereditary and midsommar both on theaters and the audience were laughing on both movies. Probably not because the scene was funny, more of a nervous laugh.

The dude's facial expressions made it funny. He thought he was gonna enjoy his underage activities and ended up freaked out. There was some true hilarity woven in between the horror.

I mean, the movie is definitely a comedy on top of being a horror movie. There are so many laugh-out-loud moments

I remember watching this at a sleep over with my cousins and our brothers woke up to see *_that_* scene. 😭😭😭 Our volume was also so loud. My aunt called my cousins if we were ok and luckily they didn’t come in the room.

The accuracy with actual Swedish midsummer is spot on.

Bruh, the way the lights come through the door and show up in danni's face. Amazing.

DUDE I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS MOVIE AND I ACTUALLY THOUGHT THE SONG AND DISCO LIGHTS WERE APART OF THE ACTUAL SCENE. I was literally tearing up from how disturbed I was too..

Camera movement and the background sound...wow!!! Simply amazing and never fails to disturb your psyche!!!

You know, when I was watching this film, the music had a beat that was very "EDM" and for a minute my mind would be occupied with the beat and how club-like it sounded. I'm so happy to see this edit because someone else's brain heard what I heard and I think that's neat. Subbed btw clean detailed edit is clean! B)

The music when she sees through the eye hole starts to sound as our hearts when we are in great emotional stress. You can hear your heart form inside through your ears.

I'm guessing there was a CloudxSephiroth doujin circa 2009 playing out in there. Who can blame her.

2009 was a very dark time for the final fantasy community.

One of the most disturbing films I’ve ever watched.

This movie was very disturbing for me and I still think about it from time to time. I was very disgusted by those cult people and felt kinda sick after watching it. It makes you feel bad. But I would still recommend it because no other movie has ever achieved that for me.

This movie was perfectly made and disturbing at the same time to the point that I don't want to watch it again. It left me traumatized for a week!

All I can imagine is that her boyfriend is doing the knee-copter in there
