He was a legend and attended over 150 brazil games. He gifted the trophy to a german fan at the end of the match but she gave it back to him after germany won the final. Unfortunately he died of cancer the next year, but his sons took the trophy to Russia 2018 in memory of him.

If it's a match between German clubs, definitely the stronger team will reach double digits cuz they try their best and think that's respecting the opponent. In this case, it's more controversial. Other culture can see this as inappropriate, especially when they see you "humiliating" the host.

It's a cultural thing. It doesn't have the intention to disrespect. In Brazil this celebration is very common and it's not provocative, it is just a celebration to us. I can assure you Brazil was not giving it their all. in the beginning yes but if you watched the game it was clear they gave up after 2-0. their mental state was messed up after going down as Brazil built themselves up as an unstoppable force that could win without trying. I think this game was the best thing for Brazil as their fans and players have never been ignorant since. they respect every opponent and are as humble as they've ever been.

Löw didn't tell the players not to score. He just told them not to embarrass the opponent and be classy. There's no need to humiliate your opponent.

You're right, but that is not what happened. Löw didn't tell them to slow down or stop scoring (which they didn't btw). He just didn't want anybody of his players to act arrogant, fool the opponent with stupid tricks or stuff of that sort! Apparently he reminded them where they are, how welcoming the Brazilians were to the team and just return the favor by respecting their national team. Me for my part, I liked that they didn't act out and finished the game.in style! Still a little pissed though, that Özil missed the 8:0 😅

They literally started booing germany when they were still warming up on the pitch before the match even started and kept that attitude throughout the game until they turned against their own players and started booing them instead of germany. He didn't say 'don't score' he's said 'slow down' and the whole team did exactly that. Coincidence? I think not. They even missed easy chances. All except for one player. You can even see Mueller be disappointed at Schuerrle and the way Muelleer cut in to shoot he would have missed on purpose in case he'd have gotten to the ball earlier than Schuerrle.

The video is fake, Löw never said they should not score. He asked the players to be respectful and not humiliate them by pulling tricks. He said he would not let any player play the final who did not act professionally in the second half.

Honestly as a keeper, it’s hard not to take goals personally mainly because you’re taking most of the blame for the goals

As someone who has gotten blown out by 10+ at times, it’s not fun for that to happen.
