It's been a while, huh?
Sorry about the wait haha. Life has been so good. Busy! But so, so good. There have been some amazing, wonderful blessings that have happened since my last upload, and I just feel so grateful. I'm really, really happy.
But about this cover, it's a little over a year old at this point (oopsies). School and life in general just get really busy haha. I've been singing this song around the house since the first time I heard it probably three years ago, so this cover has been a long time coming. It's an honest and hopeful song, I think. I don't know anything about Steven Universe, but to me, I've thought of the song as coming from the point of view of someone who's getting to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance for the first time with people who genuinely love and care for them, and maybe they're a little scared because it's all so new and wonderful, and they don't want to lose what they've found. But still, they hold onto the hope that the good that they found can really be theirs, that they can stay and belong.
For me personally, it's been a really big deal for me to know that I will always have a place of belonging with my Heavenly Father. That regardless of anything else, I will always be His daughter, and He will always love me and want me back home with Him.
Last year, I met someone whom I love so dearly. He amazes and inspires me every time I'm with him, and I feel so loved and so at home with him. I find myself in awe that God worked things out perfectly so that our paths would cross and that we would be able to come to know and love and care for each other as we have. It's nothing short of a miracle. I used to wonder how I would ever get to this point, and now, here I am, all because of my loving Heavenly Father and His grace and mercy, and it's even more wonderful than I ever could have hoped for.
I hope all the best for you as you move closer to your personal distant shore, whatever that may be for you-a loving relationship, a real friendship, feelings of self-love and acceptance, a sense of purpose and worth, or whatever else you've been longing for. I hope one day you'll find yourself there, with a big smile on your face, knowing that you are loved and known.
