This is not just about one slap . This is about dignity and respect of a woman . The condition of women in Indian society is very poor . Husbands often beats their wives . Domestic violence is a big issue in India . And It all started with one Slap. If women will raise their voice on First slap then they could save themselves from Lifetime exploitation . There is no excuse for physical violence towards your partner in public or private. N as per the situation shown in the trailer the guy had absolutely no reason or right to hit his wife. To be really honest, I wasn't offended at the part where he slapped a "woman" but where he "slapped" his partner. Gender doesn't matter. You don't get to hit your partner no matter what. Period. I share the opinion over Amber Heard and Johnny Depp case and I share the same opinion for this movie. But the part about him slapping a woman is also important even if it wasn't what directly offended me. I'm angry at how the people around her treated the incident. That she needs to stifle her need to seek justice for the sake of appearing like a "normal couple" in front of the world. This is a problem unique to India ngl. More often than not people want women to "adjust". Adjust in your new family, adjust in making family a priority over work and adjust in general. Please note that I'm not unaware of problems faced by men in our country, but I want to focus on women in this comment. The Indian society don't see men and women as equal. There's an internalized inferiority of women present in the mindset of both men and women alike.

This movie is about highlighting the patriarchal society in india. Many times woman are expected to endure different kinds of abuse including emotional and mental abuse. Little details like her waking up early , preparing breakfast for him and basically being his backbone are shown in the trailer. She willingly and happily does all of the above with wanting respect and love in return. But sometimes these things are taken for granted , woman are many times treated as second class citizens. The work they do is “expected” of them whereas a man seems to earn respect and dignity as he goes out and provides for the family. The whole movie, in a subtle but honest manner portrays the little things that we are accustomed to ignore or live with it. Watch the movie and pay attention to details. A well made movie:)

She reveals later how much of her dreams she keeps sacrificing at every step for him, so they show what she means when she says in the Trailer that the slap brings her clarity on all those other little things which she ignored.

Well, it's just not about the slap. It's about how one feels safe and secure with a person, and those feelings of safety just go away once someone has treated you like that. And would someone hit who is more physically built than him/her for example a policeman with a gun if he/she is angry and drunk. Well a stupid person would, but normally he/she wouldn't. These are all just excuses that someone's drunk and angry, it's always a choice. And that's a different thing if someone hits someone by mistake, like they didn't see them and all. But if it's someone you love and respect, that partner is not different from you then, he/she is an integrated part of your life, and you won't ever hit them deliberately. Never.

While friends, family, fraternity have the same folklore, it's just a slap, unknowingly it is building a kind of obligation on the victim to okay yourself, it's just normal. Well it is not unless you sense the damage in the very first place

Dude she made a damn good point when she was like he was so emotionally invested in his career he fought she invested her entire life for him.. and how can she let it fucking go! Indian men tend to forget that there’s a life outa their work.

I know I'm late but there were small clues in the trailer, like she wake up early to prepare everything rather than they wake up together.. small thing but there... and the car scene where he says he isn't sleepy at all indicating at least to me he wasn't gonna give her a choice... I donno...

Hey These are american Conservatives different from Indian conservatives though . These people believe in bible and according to bible homosexuality is a sin so they don't are very accepting of LGBT community. *I also tried asking them and many other foreign reactors but those who are not very accepting of homosexuals deliberately skipped reacting to that trailer.* That's it. It's very disappointing but what we can do 😢

He was frustrated at that time becoz......he got a job in London and was going to move to London...and that's y the party was hosted but suddenly the company head called and told him that he was replaced so he started arguing with the person from the company who was there in that party and in between their conversation she came in and started pulling him back and due to that anger he slapped her....in middle of the movie she tells the lawyer that it's not only his mistake but her side also did some mistakes.....but they divorced at the end and towards the ending she gots to know that she is pregnant and she rushes towards him to tell that but what he says is that what ever may be the reason he wants his baby........after that he shifts from India to London after getting that job..........this movie made me cry because the ending scene where these two meet at the court for the divorce and the way he looks at her😭😭After that they part ways😭😭

I think it's more like if she can sacrifice everything for his happiness, dedicate her life to him, love him more than herself than in that case why should she get hit by him in return. Whatever the reason ,hitting someone is wrong and it only becomes worse when the person you slapped actually loves you fiercely, whose whole life depends upon you. Love doesn't give the right to hurt anyone in any way.
