In March, ICLR's new 3D printed, regeneratively cooled liquid bipropellant rocket engine, THANOS-R, just completed its 9th static hot fire test. Since its construction in early 2024, this engine has already racked up the following stats:
- 9 Ignition cycles
- 90 seconds cumulative burn time
- More than 200,000 Ns of cumulative impulse generated
- Won the $15,000 CPLC Thrust Vector Award
- Throttle points ranging from 3.8 kN down to 700 N
- Fastest turnaround between tests of 28 minutes
The engine is certainly not done yet, so stay tuned for future tests...
