Love your work man, I have around 80% of all I need coming in the next couple of weeks, even a few bits I dont even need haha. I am making a few mods already to your design and when I have proof of it actually working I will try and put up a one build detailed diary for others to see as it is a really deep rabbit hole to fall down when you don't know what you are doing and the forums are talking about older builds mixed with newer ones, so I ordered things like arduino and a few other things based on wrong info I read along the way. I am spewing cause I bought my Thanos controller last week and had not seen this vid till now, when I saw removable screen for an extra 100 bucks I thought nah why would I need that once it's setup DOH! Oh well it will still blow me away if I get it going :) I am modding a few bits of your build and will fill you in if and when it works out :) Its a shame the Thanos remote cant connect through usb? One of my plans is having a powered usb hub mounted on my rig so that only the one cable on the moving section connects to the pc... oops wires, there I said it :) Cheers mate great informative vid, it just took my anxiety levels down by 85% regarding the money I have forked out on this adventure which I was starting to doubt I could finish... It seems easy now ! Thanks again for all your info and great down to my cave man brain level of explanation of how it all works. PS if you are running a 570 board make sure to update the Bios as there are some updates to do with usb problems on 570 chipsets,,, also a powered usb hub works well for gear shift hand brake pedals etc and I don't notice any lag or miss shifts at all running through a hub (and you can get some shorter wires and try and hide them :) )

Just found your channel and I’m stupid excited to start researching how to build my own 6dof rig and even better I get to learn all the new things. Best bit about diy I can do it piece by piece as I can afford it. Keen. Never thought one of these things would ever be remotely possible to own.

Neither did i until a few years ago!! Man its the best project going, you'll have tonnes of fun watching it come to life (and a tonne of headaches) haha but hopefully more fun! :P It's a lot easier these days thats for sure then even a few years ago!

Man I've wanted to do one for a while hey! It's gonna have to be well thought out. Start from scratch and build a whole profile and tune a game. Etc. But I understand so much how intimidating this program is for sure! But once you grasp it, it's so bloody powerful!

As long as, like you say, it's well thought out and spoken in layman's terms then I think alot more people will understand it. Especially if english isnt thier first language. Many people envy your resilience to the 10khz whine, don't worry! :) Man i still owe it to you all those years ago for my initial build. we all play our part here and there. Its been a fun ride. Excellent videos mate, iv almost finished my actuators and this stuff is helping me so much. It’s much appreciated 👍. The flypt program is a little daunting tho. If my rig has the same measurements as yours can I get or use your filter settings to get me in the ballpark to get started or is that a bad idea?

Nice one mate! Exciting times. Yes you could quite easily use similar profiles. Flypt now has an online upload area where people share their files and there's a guy named ZEN who has made and shared a fair few profiles and as well as others too. You can just download theirs and then add your rig instead of theirs and try them out and make minor tweaks to your liking :) Yeah its quite a daunting program for sure. Everytime I go back there's always new filters added so I'm in the process of redoing all my profiles using different filters etc. Building the rig is one thing.. the software side is a whole nother ball game haha

I am using Delta asda-a2 ac motor The current hardware is 4DOF I wonder if it is compatible with Thanos board.

Hey do you have a guide for your build? Or are you willing to build and sell? This rig is awesome man absolutely love it!

Cant wait to buy this damn thing and start my SFX -100 build.

@@jacooosthuizen3593 man this is the hardest question to answer.. mainly because I haven't sat on a 4dof rig let alone one with TL and surge etc.. but I can tell you that one is cheaper.. hint... its my setup.. but that's as long as you can weld.. although others have done a rig using extrusion.. but extrusion is expensive as hell when you're buying that much of the stuff. And honestly you need about the same amount of room too. But really I don't think you'll be disappointed either way to be honest they're both kick arse set-ups in my opinion. Both will handle flying games just fine. Just don't limit yourself to 100mm of travel on the sfx when it's so easy to add 50 or so mm without a worry :)

36:40 Another solution is get an 90º degree cable or adapter, not sure if they exist , but that might give a cleaner look.

I wonder what would happen if Thanos would actually acknowledge the AASD drive tuning parameters - using a non-tuned system I think might reproduce inferior result than one fully and properly tuned. Less positional error - more fun.

Well done mate! Thanks for this video! Building my SFX100 with Thanos... good info here, still need some clarity before the final assembly but still have some time. My actual rig will have 150mm (I'm a few weeks, waiting for some parts and motors), 6 transducers (road texture or RPM still not denied that yet) and 8 vibrating motors (4 for kerbs that the frequency match perfects to real life and other 4 just to feedback to know when wheels are sliding). Got 3 questions for you: 1) between all of the SW available out there (SimRacing Studio, SimTools, FlyPT Mover) you recommend PT mover? 2) I will use VR, need to compensate the rig movement with something, what do you recommend? 3) Does the controllers makes too much heat? (I'm thinking of building a box or a case for all this stuff (power sources, servo controllers, amps, etc) Thanks mate!!

hey mate, good luck on the build, sounds like its gonna be a sweet setup! sooo.. 1. flypt mover is just the best for 6dofs at the moment and with its endless customisation and endless "modules" you can add for transducers and wind sims and led's for lighting effects like RPM etc etc it is just a powerhouse. i do get it is very intimidating though and maybe not for everyone.. but thats where SRS comes in i guess.. its been getting good feedback and is more user intuitive using a few sliders etc. i havent used it myself as its not compatible with 6dofs like mine but you could ask in the discord for thanos what the sfx users opinions are between the two. also flyPT is FREE! thats a massive plus as well.. you could always start out with that and see how you go then if its too hard then switch to SRS perhaps and give that a go. Other simmers are always keen to share game profiles so shoul;dnt be hard to get some profiles to get you started and make it a bit easier :) 2. openVR motion compensation ovrmc.dschadu.de/ is basically only real thing going at the moment.. it can use a controller mounted to your rig to cancel movements but with transducers that cvan be tricky with the vibrations so it can actually connect to flypt mover and just use your rig motion data and cancel it that way!! see where i'm going here with flypt? haha. but yeah has some issues with oculus devices as they dont like openVR too much. i'll be doing some testing soon with my quest 2 though and see how its going currently.. 3. not not much heat at all.. they are only running at like 15% power so barely break a sweat.. i have them in a server rack so i can add fans etc later but have never needed to.. depends how confined you make it i guess.. but a bit of natural airflow or a couple low RPM noctuas just to keep airflow moving should be suffice :) It's worth noting FlyPT mover 4 is around the corner and meant to be rebuilt from ground up to make it alot more user intuitive etc so its gonna be really interesting when that finally drops :) Hope this all helps haha

The transducers are just for vibration... so I think the oculus control will not be affected (right now looking for something to print so I can attach it to my seat). Thanks again mate!

Hey, everytime you turn on your servo drives it will "home" or "calibrate" to the bottom of the actuator until it bottoms out and detects an over torque condition and will cut power and set that as your "zero" position. :)

Do you know if 2 Thanos controllers can be used at the same time?

Does this work with the bluetiger motion rig . It uses Thanos AMC Controller but it wont work with anything i tried . I cant find no software to sopport it .thanks
