Here's a video with a bit about why I upload these videos and my future plans.
Translation;
Hello comrades, this will be a different type of video than the videos I usually upload. I want to give a bit of background on why I make these videos, and what my plans are for future videos.
But before that I’d like to thank everyone that has subscribed, watched, commented and most importantly played Socom Confrontation. Thank you all very much.
I started making Socom videos as soon as I found out about the server being back up. I searched Socom on KZread to show the game to a friend and realised that it had been revived. I think it had been back for about twelve months when I started playing again.
I already had a capture card to record gameplay so I started recording from the very start, and I still have that footage, however it was never my intention to upload it to KZread, I just wanted to have my own gameplay footage so that if the game ever went offline again I could still look back at the maps and describe it more easily and show it to people that never played before.
I decided to start uploading the videos to KZread when I joined the clan SAH. I wanted other players that I had become friends with to also have footage they could look back on too. However, the difficulty that I had at the time was that I couldn’t get gameplay audio to record while I had my headset on, so I had the choice to be able to make videos with gameplay audio but not be able to communicate with my team, or, to record the games with no audio.
I decided on the latter. I soon realised that watching a full game of Socom with no gameplay audio was not very good, so I then decided to make highlight reels with some music over it instead. Those videos took a lot of time to edit and also, the footage for them took up a significant amount of space on my computers storage so I decided to try to find a way to get gameplay audio recorded while having my headset on. I finally found a way to do it, and so I was able to start uploading full game videos and noticed that the views on the videos increased and so did the subscribers.
A video I am particularly proud of, and one that I wanted to make back in 2009 when I originally played, is the video where I get a kill with every weapon. It took a lot of effort to make, especially getting a crush kill but I think it was worth it. I’d like to make another one, with HD gameplay this time. It is also my intention to make a video of every objective being completed, control point capture and bomb defused etc.
Because of this I realised that I may be able to get more people to play the game if I uploaded videos more frequently, to reach a wider audience. I also thought that playing other PS3 games might help too; to boost the player count so as of now I have uploaded a video from the games Resistance Fall of Man and Rainbow Six Vegas.
I noticed that my videos of full games could be a bit repetitive, so I decided to try to get a video of every map and mode combination uploaded. As you can see, I’m keeping track, however some game modes, Suppression in particular are only available on Frostfire so I may have to make an unranked game to get every combination I want. I’ve also tried to make the videos more unique by dropping the Motoko. M4A1 and 552 and using different weapons.
Over the last year and a half I’ve gotten a lot of comments from people saying that they had no idea that the game was still playable and so I believe that my efforts are not going to waste.
I have a few ideas for event videos, some of which I have done already, for example the pistols only game on Frostfire. I would like to do more videos like these, shotguns only, knife fights and paintball games. That requires at least 7 other players to play these games with me, and it’s not easy to get diehard Socom players to play anything other than ranked games. Which is fair enough.
All that being said, I want to thank you all for watching and playing the game. I have more highlight videos on the way, more Clutch clip videos and obviously a lot more full games on Socom. Thank you.
