Thailand vs. USA Shocking Cost of ER Visit and Overnight Stay in Thailand Hospitals

Unfortunately, I suffered a medical emergency that required me to be rushed to the ER and overnight stay at a Thailand hospital. In this vlog, I take you inside a Thailand emergency room and showcase the quality of care and the cost of medical treatment in Thailand's hospitals in Bangkok and Pattaya.

Forget costs; no price on good health. Just so pleased you’re up and about - alive and kicking. We take health for granted until we reach a certain age so look after yourself.

Thanks for sharing.... I've had to be admitted to the hospital there as well...its unbelievable. I also had hernia surgery many years ago... $2600 with 2 nights stay I would love to see a video on health insurance there... I was planning on looking into it once I relocate there.

Wow, you had exceptional care it sounds like for an unbelievable price. I'm a respiratory therapist in the U.S. and I doubt if you'd have made it out of our hospital for less than $10,000-$15,000, if not more, with all of the lab-work and diagnostics. Glad to hear they took good care of you and the prognosis is good. I look forward to watching more of your content.

This is private hospital so the price is quite high but for Thai citizens in public hospital is free.

I’m privileged enough to live in the UK where all of the above would be totally free. Only problem being, if they did not think the symptoms were life threatening you might have to wait a while, I.e a few hours. That said, it did look like amazing service in Thailand even if they did give you every test under the sun regardless of whether it was needed.

I am from Canada (Québec) and our Healthcare system is absolutely free, but not as the care you received!!! No menu for breakfast you eat what they give you...not too good but not too bad...we pay more taxes, but i am almost never sick i only get stupid accidents, like tear off some nerves of my body , things like that, anyway, i thought tgat it would cost you about 10k!!! It push me more again to sell all my things and move to thailand next year, but I'll have health insurance for sure!!! Take care maybe I'll have the chance to meet you as a few of others youtubers tgat i am following!! 🙏🙏🙏

I was in a car accident in Southern California in 2015, and my ambulance ride bill was $1600! Fortunately, the accident was not my fault so the bill was paid by the insurance company of the other car. I was not critically injured but I went to the ER as a precaution because the airbag hit me with such force that I thought my ribs were broken.

Wow Brother....sorry to hear about your health scare!! But it definitely sounds like you were in Very Good Hands. What you received would have cost a minimum of $25,000-$35,000....maybe even more than that, in the USA. In fact, the $1500 would not have even covered the Blood Work that you had done!!

Here in Canada healthcare is free ( but you get what you pay for )..Ambulance service is free for seniors..Glad you’re ok.. Do a search for Barbara O’Neill..She talks a lot about Celtic salt and to include 1 Crystal on your tongue and let dissolve in water for hydration ..It contains 82 nutrients..I would imagine being so hot in Thailand, this is what I would do.

yes, the attention you will receive in Thai hospitals is very good, but you are comparing it to the states where the medical services are a total rip off which is why tourists travelling to North America and Canada pay an absolute fortune in travel insurance i have had to go to hospital a few times in Thailand, twice with Salmonella (from undercooked eggs, totally my fault for not sending eggs back to cook more), once when i fell while fishing and dislocating and breaking my finger, and once when i had an infection under a finger-nail which needed an operation under just local numbing, i always refuse admission even though they recommend it and have never paid more than 3000TB for the treatment, the operation was done within 40 minutes of arriving at the hospital (here in the UK i would have been on the waiting list for a minimum of six months) hope you are on the mend, the private room they admitted you too looks brilliant and the constant stream of gorgeous nurses is a tonic on it's own! look forward to your next vlog and hope you will have made it home to record it

I had a simple ER visit in NJ 15 years ago that was 6 grand when I had a torn retina for a non-specialist to tell me to see a specialist the next day. Your cardio workup and overnight stay with IV bags, 10 to 20 grand in the horrifying US medical system. I like Bangkok Hospital in Pattaya and I have several specialists there. I had an operation there once. I also go to Bumrungrad in Bangkok which is rated one of the top 20 hospitals in the world sometimes. The Bangkok Hospital in Pattaya sleep study center wanted me to come in 4 hours before the sleep test for a covid test (August 2023) which is actually sad. I told them no and I will get that sleep study where they are more into science rather than propiganda. That was only the sleep study unit. All my other specialists there are relaxed about patients wearing masks and so forth. I'd say I pay 20% of the cost here that I would be charged in the US - ballpark estimate. I also get in to see specialists in 10 minutes from walking in rather than waiting 6 months like in the US sometimes. One more note Bro... I get occasional AFIB - probably from sleep apnea. I had a CPAP machine for 5 years when I was a porker (BMI index 32+) but when i lost the weight, they took me off it. Now I'm a BMI index of 25 but I snore and I probably need to go back on CPAP. I keep track of my liquid intake every day using Google Calendar. I also eat a little sodium, plenty of potassium (fruits, beans, etc) and I take a magnesium taurate supplement every day for heart rythm support.

In 2015, I received a bill for $1600 (1261 British Pounds) for an ambulance ride in California after a car accident. I was not badly injured so the ambulance did not bother to turn on the lights and siren. The ride lasted 30 minutes while stopping at every red traffic signal. Now, that's a ripoff!!! The other party's insurance company paid for it.
