Thai Jungle Monk Questions Answered

Temple rules and permissions vary from country to country, sect to sect and district to district. In this video, I attempt to address some of the questions I have received, some of which are with regards to why it seems we do things differently from other temples viewers have come in contact with or have been associated with.

After morning routine, upkeep and ceremonies, was there any guided discussion (possibly by Abbott) of sutras or the philosophy of Buddhism?

The activities you mentioned were mainly one-on-one between myself and the Abbot. November is the busiest time because of the holiday Pansa, which lasts the entire month and local temples pick which day they want to celebrate Boon Gatin and other monasteries (like ours) support them. I say this to explain that my time at the temple may not be representative of how the temple normally operates. The following episodes to be published will cover when we were on the road, so keep watching. Mahalo & SATU!

Now that it is over, what is next? Becoming a biker dude? If you returned to Monkhood, do you have to satrt all over or just take up from where you left off? What as a Temple monk did you do? Visit other temples Chant and read sutras? At home temple, just meditate and clean? YOu had no assigned task, just do what was needed around?

Either Biker Dude or astronaut, I haven't completely decided lol. When returning to monkhood you must repeat the initial ceremony. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I have a question, why quit monkhood? Do you still planning to be a monk again in near future?

You may return to monkhood but more than 3 times is discouraged and I plan to return and be a monk for a year if health will allow. I had no intention to commit for the rest of my life I did not actually "quit," I had planned for 15 days but extended to make it 3 weeks.

Temporarily in the US taking care of business but heading back to Thailand very soon. I would love to visit a temple in Laos some time in the future.
