Thai Cave Rescue Hero Vern Unsworth on Court Battle Against Elon Musk | Good Morning Britain

Ойын-сауық

Vern Unsworth was part of the incredible team who rescued 12 boys and their football coach from the 'Tham Luang' complex in Thailand in the summer of 2018. Tech tycoon Elon Musk caused a storm in the middle of the rescue operation as he offered a mini-submarine and when declined, he called Vern a 'pedo' on Twitter. Vern and his lawyer Mark Stephens talk about losing the court case against Musk and how the comments left him feeling 'humiliated, dirtied and ashamed'.

I think Mr Musk should publicly admit and apologise for childish and aggressive and payout to the poor man. Otherwise it is an open scar on his life.

After what Elon's been doing recently, a public apology is long gone. In fact, I bet he's going to double down on this if it ever gets brought up again

Musk keep surprizing me as to how cruel, petty and insensitive he can be to other's feelings, and to the consequences of his actions on other people. (He's sensitive to his own feelings, though.)

He doesn't always think things through as well as a should, but he isn't cruel or deliberately insensitive. You've clearly got an axe to grind. Did he offend your ideological sensibilities or do you just not like rich people?

@@emergencyCALL911 I see him as a flawed human being. We're all flawed in different ways. And if you think he's not cruel or thoughtless (in considering others), perhaps you haven't paid too much attention to him, which is fine!

@@emergencyCALL911 I try really hard to see his behavior and words in a good light, but if you take what he says and remove whatever fangirl/boy glasses you might be wearing, his words and actions are so often narcissistic and horrible. I was a fan of Elon Musk for his achievements, and I still appreciate them, but then I saw his words and actions, and how he keeps misrepresenting the truth, lying, and abusing anyone who he feels threatened by, I can't condone any of that. He has caused a lot of harm to so many humans, and also some good.

@@emergencyCALL911 (continued...) As I see it, he has bought into his 'savior of the world' myth that his fans see him as, and finds it hard to see the difference between his own thoughts and opinions, and objective reality. ... I actually believe that he genuinely was and is trying to do the right thing by buying and transforming twitter, but that 1) Engineering brilliance/competence doesn't necessarily translate to understanding how people work, and 2) All his cruelty and unwillingness to take responsibility for the effects his words and actions have on others, is all part of the 'he is right and good and everyone who opposes him in any way is evil and is an enemy of the world.' idea he (mostly unconsciously) seems to have in his mind. ...If you don't have a solid foundation, it's very easy and tempting to by into a savior complex if you have multitudes of screaming fans who see you that way.

@@kefkapalazzo1 Yeah, it was a dumb thing to say, but at the end of the day, it was an online spat and the jury recognised that. By the sounds of what was said here, it was the media as usual that made things worse by blowing a few stupid comments made on the internet out of proportion. If the media weren't in the habit of treating comments made on Twitter as newsworthy, Unsworth would never even have known about it.

Piers has come a long way from dismissing Elon as a "bullying billionaire", and it's definitely an improvement. Elon's not perfect and he shouldn't have called this dude "pedo guy", but he's hardly a bully. If somebody slaps you and you break their nose, it may be a disproportionate reaction, but it's not bullying. You can't pick a fight with somebody and then call them a bully when they hit back.
