TH Presents Neil McCutcheon and Neil Anderson - Using Jamboard to facilitate tasks for TBL

In this talk, we summarise some benefits of Task-Based Learning (TBL/TBLT) as an approach to communicative language teaching, and recap the defining features of a task. We go on to describe some practical examples of tasks which we migrated to an online environment, and show how we use Jamboard to facilitate key parts of the task cycle.
Neil McCutcheon is the co-director of ELTeach, a UK training organisation that runs courses for language teachers. He began teaching in 1991 and has taught in the UK, Ghana, Hungary and France. His main interests are teacher education and he has a special interest in TBLT. He co-wrote Activities for Task Based Learning with Neil Anderson in 2019, and together they have produced a blog of online tasks and related articles, Fluency First ELT.
Neil Anderson is Head of Training at Budapest Training Institute, a member of the Euroexam International Group. He is a teacher, CELTA and DELTA trainer as well as the co-author of Activities for Task-Based Learning and the blog @FluencyFirstELT. His main interests include teacher development, reflective practice, second language acquisition and task-based language learning.
