The flying brick, an awesome bike. My brother has the 1999 model and it flies as rhe nickname insinuates. Smooth and very responsive to the throttle.

I had a blue 2001 model of this about 20 years ago, great bike for eating up the miles. Beautifully engineered too, enjoy 🙂

I rode almost 100k on this type of bike. There's nothing really you can object to. Great for sport touring.

I like your take on the k1200RS. I bought the same red 2004 model here in the UK in May 2022 for £2400 with only 19000 miles on it, which makes it very similar to your bargain find. It was my first BMW and my fourth 'shaftie' and I'm as thrilled with it as you are with yours. If they still made the same model I would probably trade mine in for a new one.

Mate just brought a2004 model with 30,000ks on it and presents like brand new. Love you videos they make me laugh . And yes I have found myself talking very upmarket when out riding this bike. My other bike 2000 hyabussa unrestricted.

I've got the yellow checker board 98..50k miles...recently welded starter relay contacts due to low battery while in storage...my fault...only issue I've ever had

I have also this motorcycle for some years till now and I think it is completely underrated. At these prices an insider tip for lovers who want something solid and, above all, strong. However, I modified the handlebars significantly upwards.

I picked up an ‘02 K12RS over the summer. I swapped the headlight for LED and it is a real game changer. OEM was way too dim and now my low beam is brighter than the high beam. (I have the other LED just haven’t swapped yet)

on mine I get 175+ miles on the highway doing 75mph. I think I did like 189 when the fuel light turned on, as I was turning into the gas station. I was nervous though, but I was about a mile from home... I love that bike.

I had a 2002 yellow "taxi" model. Loved that thing. Felt like the whole bike was milled out of a solid block of aluminum. Fuel mileage should be 42-45mpg.

With only 25k miles on the bike its not even broken in yet. Gas mileage should be better then that. I have a 2003 RS with 190k on it. Love it

LOL. Great video. I'm about to pull the trigger on a similar bike. I've been told to stay away from the servo assist brakes years, but I'll just delete the servo if they become a pita. It'll be my 6th bike.

I’m on my second K1200rs. On the first one I had the ABS unit replaced - which I’ve done by myself. On the second one - which is 1999 model - no problem whatsoever with the ABS.

How short can you be on this bike before you need elevator shoes? I'm 5'4". To be frank about the only thing holding me back. Oh plus the fact the 1200 RS is 200 lb heavier than an 1150 RT. That could get problematic for a runt like me 🫢 You should be getting 40 mpg from the bike if it were new which obviously it is not. The braking is antidive huge plus for me. The aesthetic is in a world of it's own. You might want to pick up a part for the ECU. Sorry can't recall name but it is a known issue, especially in rain. Your screwed without a fresh one bike needs to be towed, easy install though. About 160 bucks last heard. The red 1200 looks awesome, so does the green. 160 mph? I nearly got blown off a bike at 106 mph. Testament to that fairing I tell yah! Do you find the bike a little heavy to toss around in the twisties? Complaint I've heard... Really enjoyed your video, still can't get over 160 mph top speed though, just Gonzo Bonzo! 👍😎

I’m 5’5”. And have a nice relationship with my K1200rs. The bike’s center of gravity is quite low - so its weight is no big deal, as long as you’re on a flat surface.

Center-stand useful?? On the Flying Brick it's more than useful, it's essential. Leave the bike on its side-stand for a day or two and you'll find out why! BMW...Bikes Made Weird.

What happens if you leave the bike on the side stand?

  • @brazilianmotoka

    @brazilianmotoka

    3 ай бұрын

@@NorceCodine The cylinders are in a horizontal position, like in a Porsche car. So when the bike is on its side stand, the cylinder head will be lower than the cylinders, allowing some small amount of engine oil to get into the combustion chambers. As a result, when you start the engine, it will burn that oil, making some smoke throughout the exhaust. No big deal.

Go with Kawasaki Concourse, I believe it has the same motor as the ZX 14 but of course is way more comfortable. And as much as I liked my BMW, it definitely had some quirks. The Kawasaki will not have any quirks. And I do believe the motor is faster.
