I have friends whose primary social media poison of choice is this or that website like Tumblr or twitter or whatever, and they all think that. Hell, I bet even most 4chan people think 4channers are edgy assholes. (And if not, hell, even Twitter users know that Twitter users are assholes. I wouldn't want to be known for having less self awareness than Twitter users....) I think if 4chan wants to stop looking like edgy assholes, they should stop incubating irony poisoned mass murderers and stop starting weird fandom wars with other websites like they're some kind of crazy death cult. Edgy Rick wasn't just a dst youtuber, for the longest time, he was THE dst youtuber. If you go back 4 or 5 years literally anything he said would be taken as fact. Even if it were completely wrong because "edgy Rick said it so it must be true!" God forbid you called him out on any of his "game advice" or you'd get burned at the stake. If you did something as simple as picking flowers, his community would tear you to shreds. Oh my god, not Rick Hi, big member of the DST community here. I used to watch him all the time, and most of my knowledge of the game comes from him. The thing that first made me start to question why I watched him was when I commented on his video about Wigfrid's rework that he got one of his details slightly mixed up, just trying to help. He never replied to it directly mentioning me, but someone else asked for more specifics and he replied with a now deleted comment, so i cant remember the exact wording as it was a few years ago, but it was something about people like me just being stupid haters that knew nothing. Again can't remember the wording, but I do remember it not being anything vulgar. But the fact he was stubborn enough to just assume I was wrong, when I wasn't, and then just deleting the evidence afterwards was frustrating. Then he said he was quitting because of Tencent and I realized he was never playing the game for the fun of it, clearly Came across one of his youtube shorts a while later, one that used his voice, and I had a visceral reaction upon hearing his voice again on a new channel lmao Love you rick, please leave us alone (also he seems to be once again making content on his Edgy Rick channel, calling out other big DST youtubers, one of which i've had some short conversations with and is actually one of the most chill people ever, and the other being just a cool person who puts a lot of effort into his videos. The third person he talked about was Beard who I feel like I could make an entire hour long video about because holy that guy is another story entirely, on the same vein as Rick but with less low effort content and slurs and more thievery.)

One of my best friends in tf2 is a sniper main, and terrible news for zealot, he is one of the most chillest people I know. Most snipers I meet are nice and thank you whenever you compliment them or speak normally when people adress their aggression towards sniper as a class. The whole “toxic teen a-hole” stereotype is a small subset of sniper players that do not deserve to play the game and cast the entirety of all sniper mains into a realm of hate.

Zealot is like that kid in middle school who tried to act apathetic and uncaring but would cry when somebody made a mom joke

Im a dst veteran and I can not express the sadness I felt when he posted a new dont starve video recently.

I honestly never knew Zealot was Edgy Rick, I used to be a Don't Starve player and I literally remember everybody in the community did not like him at all. To know he's him is shocking. I used to watch Zealot's shorts at first because I used to think they were funny because of the skits he made with the characters but then there was this one drama he was in regarding a drawing of the sentry girl and the way he spoke about the artist put a bad taste in my mouth. And then it got worse when he started to complain a lot in his shorts and that's where I stopped watching and began ignoring his content. I really don't recommend his channel at all and I don't recommend new players to watch him either.

You don't seem malicious, just kind of uninformed on it, so I'll spill: The T word is a slur, but even as someone who's trans I can't speak to how actually harmful it is. I'm sure there's people who have bad experiences with it but I've heard "transgenders" said with more vitriol than I've ever heard the slur be used with. It's more like "Don't call someone this unless you know they're okay with it" sort of deal in my experience. I think if someone called me any of the trans slurs I'd laugh about it for years tbh, but that's just one guy's POV and experience with slurs, and I'm kinda a dickhead who's neutral at worst on them, but I kind of hate "say all the right words" type """"activism"""" and I'd rather just say what actually goes through my head when I hear it. I hang out in a lot of queer spaces and nobody ever talks about it unless god forbid someone said it on Twitter without knowing or something and now they have to apologize lest they get eaten alive by people who don't care about actual harm done vs how they react. TL;DR T-word is harmful to some, fun to others, mostly just kind of useless to police. Probably not advisable to say it in negative context but I'm far from the guy to drag a chill but uninformed guy by the ears for it.

Zesty is on my permanent shit list, and it's not just for using that slur. I'm close friends with a prolific TF2 Workshop contributor (not naming who) who received death threats after Zesty made a video bashing the TF2 Community Workshop. now hes on yet another channel named Templar, where he just posts narrations of 4chan posts while doing minecraft parkour in the background (i wouldnt expect any less of him). if you scroll past that channel on shorts, make sure to click dont recommend this channel to mitigate his viewership- but hes already pretty successful on it with a lot of fans calling him based and subscribing for a cookie (he uses the same tactic), and has a few million views already. his recent shorts are kinda bombing tho and i hope it stays that way.

As someone from the DST community, hes now a massive joke, people just joke around about his shitty advice. Example: he says you should play with 0 sanity (when your at 0 sanity in DST, shadow creatures attack you) so.. you kinda dont want that.

Aside from the incredibly based and mature way of handling this situation, the editing, pacing, and humor of this video were really really good, overall just a well put together video (the chucklenuts think its based too). Definitely earned a sub, and i'm hoping this quality continues in the future! The only technical shortcoming i'd say would be your thumbnail game, but its an understandable one since thumbnails are hard AF to nail on the head. Otherwise, keep improving dude, you've got potential. I can definitely relate to the "posting videos on reddit for clout" strat, that's how i got my beginnings. I hope this video gives you a running start by getting you on the map for the algorithm so that people see your future videos. Just keep up this level of effort and combine it with some interesting ideas, and you've got a recipe for success

I remember watching him have this public meltdown over one person and he went over to several discord servers to DEMAND that they ban her for trolling him. He was trying to get her banned from every single platform and report all her accounts that he could find. It was such a funny display of impotent rage, I would feel bad for him if he wasn't a greasy racist weirdo Not sure if anyone else has been on his discord server back then to see it, but this guy is literally a white nationalist lol, just complains about muslims or whatever all the time

Don't Starve Veteran here, knowing this guy is Rick. Yeah he's not joking in anything he's saying as his new Zealot Persona. He was the type of guy who'd go into a pub server and demand everyone serve him and play HIS way, and flame you if you didn't. He only played as Wolfgang, which in Don't Starve Together was a very selfish character that meant he constantly stole other peoples' resources and food just so he could kill things and keep all the drops. His channel used to be entirely stuff like 'how your character is ruing the game', 'why you should be kicked if you play this character', 'Pro vs noob', etc. It was mostly clickbait. The Forge game mode btw, was piss-easy. He was only yelling at those children because he was trying to get the speed run achievement and he very clearly lacked 3 friends to help him do it. It's like getting mad that the enemy team won't give you the Prime Cuts achievement. His channel had been on the downspiral well before he 'quit'. The Don't Starve community at large have never had any love for him. You can ask a bunch of channels (James Bucket comes to mind);and they'll all consolidate on this. He had another TF2 channel before zealot where it was just him posting over-edited montages of him pubstomping 2 hour f2ps. There's a b4nny video where he gets his shit pushed in super hard by b4nny and he used to get very angry when you mentioned it to him. When that channel flopped he went on a very long brag about how he didn't even need youtube because he was making so much money investing in crypto and everyone who was critiquing him was just poor and jealous. I can see by the fucking gamersupps promo that he clearly lost all that money lmao Funnily enough, his furry hate probably has roots in that too. Because he was such a shit heat, Klei (who are normally super supportive and monetarily support even sub 1k channels) never reached out to him. However, they did on multiple occasions show off fanart on their dev livestreams (which he used to watch, I saw him quite a few times) and surprise, surprise, a lot of those artists were furries. There were also a few times he tried to backseat development of a large mod because he though his 'pro experience' would help, and he got angry when the mod makers ignored him. Speaking of klei, he's one of the very few people to be banned from their forums. I can't remember if it was him harassing a female dev, or him derailing a major news thread to talk shit about another youtuber. But he got banned long before he quit Don't Starve, so he's got a negative bais there. The lead dev of Don't Starve, JoeW has allued to him personally a few times whenever banning people gets brought up. TL:DR Edgy Rick was the ElderGodHeavy/TwilightSparkle of Don't Starve and I'm not surprised to see his attitude hasn't changed.

A video like this would be inevitable. But the quality of said video isn't. And this is true quality right here. OK seriously I'm really damn happy that Zealot is being shown as the talented hack that he is. It's a damn shame that people who bust their asses off making quality content get pushed to the backside because of him. Also this is my introduction to your channel, and it's off to a really good start, keep up with the good shit man.

@Cubezix I get it but I don’t think zealot is the main reason or even a reason for small KZreadrs like you not making it big. I believe, all in all, that the main reason bad content gets popular and good content doesn’t is because of how content scrolling apps work in general such as tiktok, instagram and KZread shorts. People aren’t motivated to keep producing good content at some point because they already know that they can keep making the same repetitive 30sec videos and still get a ton of views for it.

Plain and simple, Zealot is immature and has never grown up He literally hates anything that doesn't appeal to him in any way, shape, or form. If something isn't to his exact liking. Ratio doesn't make you win arguments, but I agree with all else. I joined his server, then said that he should apologize to show that he's grown since the time he said that Hitler should've won. A while later, someone called everyone who supports #savetf2 clowns, and I said that people like LazyPurple aren't. Then Zealot logged back on, said that lazypurple is a clown, before calling me the word and banning me. SO yeah, he probably hasn't changed much.

I don't think he's so much into negative attention as he's playing the system to be as inflammatory as possible. More viewer engagement means more growth, and even if it's negative attention it's still pushing up his subscriber count. One thing I remember here is that in the Money Game song, there was a line that summed it up perfectly. "It doesn't matter if they hate you if they all say your name"
