I just love cell phone zombies because it's more easy to distinguish the idiots from the normal people.

Texters are the new zombies. It's sad but highly laughable.

You are so wrong...we are not all guilty of it. I refuse to use my phone while in motion. My husband feels the same way.

I'm right on your wavelength Cindy, I don't either. Being blind in one eye, I already have enough stuff to look at (my surroundings) to even consider texting while in motion. If I have an important text to reply to (judged by a quick glance at it on my watch) I'll find a quiet spot to reply.

Actually no I don't. I text when I pull over or stop in my place of destination, or stand.

People, you do not see me when I am walking and you are texting. You make me feel invisible like I don't exist. And I have to walk around you or to the side. Please put down your cell phones while walking and look at the people around you. Make eye contact. Do your computer stuff at home. Get a desktop. And get used to walking without having to do something.

Thank you. I've missed soo many opportunities to smile at people.. a neighbor, a cute girl, etc. Nobody looks up at all. It's a shame that there's basically nothing we can do but sit and watch society rot even more.

I never got a smart phone to begin with, and don't use the cell phone that I do have when driving or crossing the street. But then again as a cyclist who has had run ins with careless people I am well aware of the danger they pose. And the real danger isn't so much the distraction as normalizing the idea of not paying attention to your surroundings. This will never be normal or safe no matter how many self made zombie fools stumble the streets.

Usually when I text, I speak on the mic. But the reading is the hard part.

So when someone is texting and driving they do more damage not to just themselves but innocent civilians.

We need to wear seatbelts, helmets, knee, elbow & shin pads while walking as well.

I don't walk and text... I don't even stand and text! Please stop saying "we all do it!" I only use my phone to text when I am firming up arrangements to meet up with someone in person (telling them if I am early/late etc...).

Sporting a $2000AUD smartphone, I don't do it, so mr TV man, not all of us are guilty. I have enough crap on the Aussie footpaths to deal with without needing the distraction of my phone. Texts can wait, or I can find a park bench or other safe spot to sit down and reply to that important text.
