When I got married I changed my phone number for this exact reason. I had multiple exes who just wouldn't let go, even after YEARS. Changing my number worked like a charm 😂

I'm 43 and still get them too every once in a blue moon. But DMs (not texts) cos I changed my number a few years ago, and only select friends/family have my number. I recently got a DM on FB from a dude that I went on TWO dates with 10yrs ago. He even spelled my name wrong in the msg 😅. You'd think he got the msg that I wasn't interested in keeping in touch after I blocked him after date no.2. But 10yrs later, he's seeking me out on FB? Nope! Block again!! Don't these people settle down and live "happily ever after" like they expect us women to?!

All of those equate to small talk which bores me to tears. I'm only in my 30s but they've been annoying me since my 20s with those texts. This is why I prefer phone calls sometimes.

I don't even like the three simple words "where you at"? It sounds invasive and demanding to me. Maybe I've watched too much crime but why does he need to know my location if we are just dating?

Thank you for this! Ive been saying this for yrs and these dudes dont understand why its irksome. Before women started sharing their experiences online, I used to think I was being petty and unnecessarily upset. Its comforting to see Im not alone. Just want to add the "what are you doing tonight?" messages from someone online you met 2 min ago. When I make it clear, I don't meet that quickly they immediately say they weren't going to ask me to meet with an attitude. They were "just curious" lol.

Or just "hi". With nothing else to say. Even if you respond back with "hey, how are you?" They either don't respond or just say "fine thanks" without any follow-up conversation. Then the same thing happens all over again the following day/week 🙄. At least say something that would spur on a conversation, like "guess what happened to me today...." or "have you seen that movie? If so, what did you think of it?" or "I heard on the news that XYZ happened. Crazy huh?....." There are 1001 things they could say instead of just "hi" The last dude who kept doing that got response from me saying "if you have nothing to say, don't say anything at all."

I have this one guy that only sends GIFS. He says he is too busy to text or talk. I am like you either ask me out or you move on. My feelings are not hurt, and I can find another man, who will talk to me

A little pushback: I text messages like 'How was your night?' and 'How did you sleep?' because it's how I show that I do care about if your sleep was great or it it was interrupted or you have apnea or what not. Every girl I've been with wanted to know that while we were together and I picked up on that as something that a girl/lady would appreciate. Sorry if it's been overly used but it's how we know to communicate. We're all trying our best here, cut us some slack.

I'm ok if a man sends me good morning or good night text, even if its boring or ask me how was my sleep. He just want to keep in touch. Remember, not all guys know what to say yet he wants to stay in touch, that's why. I'd rather he make an awkward effort to stay in touch with boring texts than go silent for days then suddenly Hi out of nowhere with some 'big' news
