Thank you for this video. It takes a little while but I have managed to make a card that wouldn't have been possible without this knowledge. Great explanation and no wasted words, I just worked the whole thing through step by step and it all fell into place. I had the same problem with the text having a white background but I worked out how to fix it (I removed the text colour fill) but other than that just took my time and I'm happy with the result.

Thank you very much for the free tutor. This is very clear and simple yet detailed explanation. Can we use any other shapes other then the ones in MS office library. Lets say i want to fill a chair with words in Microsoft word.

You could use any shape as long as you are able to import them as vector shapes - i.e. EMF, WMF, SVG file formats, or if you could manually trace them in Word - i.e. recreate the shape using the vector tool. Thank you for your comment and good luck with your projects!

Thanks for the useful information. I marvel at how you came up with this technique. It seems like Microsoft wants to deprioritize their customers from using Word to manipulate text inside of images. I say that due to how difficult it is to simply place your text within different shapes. The difficulty is that Word only allows you manipulate/move text outside of your shape, rather than inside of your shape. This suggests to me that corporate wants to limit the functionality of Word for designers using this software. Your tutorial is a great in that it demonstrates what seems to be a clever work-around for the artificial problem that Microsoft created [or, perhaps, they simply never fixed this problem that has always been there in Word]. Why doesn't Microsoft make an update so that you can manipulate text not only around/outside of a shape, but also inside of the shape? That update would make things so much simpler! Look at all the extra steps it took for you to do this: going into PowerPoint just to use a merge feature, then having to construct a negative of the shape, but only, for some reason I don't understand yet have faith that you, the content creator/designer, know the illogical reason for this, and then, having to go back to Word, and so on. It's simpler to just go pay Adobe a few hundred bucks for Photoshop! Even that would be less frustrating than this! I'll be honest, this limited functionality was stressing me out, good sir. Thanks again for your informative video. Finally, if there's a way to petition Microsoft to persuade them to update this feature, let me know as a reply to this comment. I'd sign that petition in a heartbeat. And, hopefully, your other viewers would, too. Take care.

Thank you so much for this great video. Very well explained. I was doing okay until I put the pexels image on the document. When I place the image behind the text then position it so that the text fits inside the heart shape, my text shows up highlighted in white instead of blending in nicely with the colour of the image. Are you able to advise what I could be doing wrong? I've watched your video over and over but still can't determine why I can't get it right. Please help :)

I'm stuck on one formatting issue, even though your explanations and demonstration were very well done. I made the inverse shapes and have word wrapping that follows the shape. HOWEVER, when I change the fill from blue to none, the text leaves the shape. It behaves as if the wrapping becomes "top and bottom" instead of through, after the fill color is set to None. What might I be doing wrong? Thanks!

When it came to wrapping the text I edited the lines to fit the shape just as you did but the words still wouldn't fill the heart. Any suggestions?

This is great info but I feel like I missed a step because the right side of my text (inside of a circle) replicates the shape of the left side. What did I miss to get the text to flow as connected between the two halves of a circle?
