That’s why he is funny because he is not trying to be funny. Charlie Murphy talked about the exact same thing in his book. You can’t get onstage and ‘try to be funny’ it doesn’t work like that.

@@aarons2632 This is also exemplified on Kill Tony. Oftentimes when people try to be funny,, they fall flat. But when Tony gets comics to feel comfortable and open up about their lives, they kill saying things they considered mundane.
Just realized that he didn’t cuss , he did a solid 10 min CLEAN comedy and that is not easy to do 😂

First comedian to make me laugh in a while and partly because he reminds me of people i grew up with
I really enjoyed his stories. He gave me time to laugh and enjoy his story but also time to relax in between the next
This was SO good! His timing and cadence is incredible. It feels like you’re talking to your funniest friend. It feels like we’re being talked at, which I get is what standup is but some are so abrasive with it. This was really nice.

Good set. I love comedy like this, good funny stories that anyone can relate to. And him being able to make me laugh without him cussing or using vulgar language makes it more enjoyable because I was able to watch it with my grandmother and my kids together.
Great, funny material with excellent timing... Let's not leave-out that he's mega cute with an infectious smile and sweet personality, all rolled-up into one very fine and successful stage act. I really like this guy a lot!
This guy feels like if you feed all the great standup comics to an AI and ask it to print out a fresh new one. The joke to joke transitions, the pauses, the delivery, the material, everything is rock solid.

Crowd work and scripted comedy are two different things. Just because some people do crowd work doesn't mean they're bad comedians. If anything it's harder to improv.

@@quietman208 That's a fair point, he did word it as there was not "a single joke about race," which there was. But it was only a couple one liners. He didn't go into a full on tirade and spend an entire bit talking about the evils of one race or the other. I completely support jokes about race. But some racial jokes seem to be rooted in comedy, while other "jokes" seem to be rooted in social justice and making a political statement. Make as many racial jokes as you want, but let's not forget we're here to have a laugh, not hear your opinion. I think Ralph did well, keeping his jokes aligned with comedy rather than personal opinion.
