Thank you! ☺️
Howdy! So lovely for you to be home in Texas, Miss Ashley. I think Mr. Haruki can do better on pronunciations, still ok though. S'mores are delicious, even I only have barbecue in the Winter. Luckily I spent a day to swim in a water park (Hong Kong Ocean Park Water World) last month, to get back in shape.

Is this your boyfriend's first time in the US?

The second! He visited me only 6 months into our long distance relationship, but didn’t have a chance to know my family well
Hi Haruki. I wanted to talk about something you mentioned. You said Americans drive everywhere because the license is cheap. This is not true. Owning a car is still very expensive in the US, and most people have to borrow money to buy one. The reason Americans drive everywhere is because the zoning laws that determine land use prioritize cars over humans. Most American cities are mandated by law to be low density and car dependent. It is literally impossible to get to most places on foot in most American cities. This is intentional. Basically, Americans drive everywhere because we are forced to by terrible city planning. Most people don’t like driving or spending money on a car, but we have no other choice.

Wow, that sounds awful! I just thought it was a preference. I hope more trains are built in America, or better walking areas!

@@Haruki_Ashley I hope so too. It’s easy to look at large American houses with a swimming pool and only see the positives, but there are a lot of negatives. I grew up in a neighborhood like that and I was basically trapped until I was old enough to drive. The suburbs are a prison for children. I could not do anything or go anywhere unless my parents drove me. The first time I went to a store alone was when I was like 16. And that’s only because I was lucky enough to have parents that bought me a car. Many parents cannot afford another car so a lot of 16 year olds (and even older young adults) have to rely on friends and family for transportation. Walkable cities like Tokyo are better in my opinion even if the homes are smaller.
Ashley, I'm from Houston. Howdy! 🤠
