Texas Speed Stage 1 LS3 225/236 Camshaft

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

TSP's all new line of LS3 camshafts are the result of our latest round of engine dyno camshaft development using our state-of-the-art Superflow 902 engine dyno. Using a brand new LS3 crate engine, we started from scratch to build the most powerful LS3 camshafts available in the country.
The stage 1 225/236 camshaft represents the smallest off the shelf camshafts currently available from TSP for the LS3-based engines. This camshaft is designed to make more power than the stock camshaft , even in the lower RPM band! This camshaft is a perfect option for customers wanting a very streetable setup that has a slight lope at idle. It is the largest cam we would recommend for anyone running the factory torque converter in auto-equipped vehicles, and it is also an excellent choice for manual-equipped cars wanting maximium streetability! We recommend this camshaft for LS3 or LS2 engines using L92/LS3 rectangle port cylinder heads!
Specs:
225/236 .629"/615" 113 LSA, 109 ICL as Standard
(Other LSAs Available)

225/230 TSP is a stage 1… 225/238 BTR is a stage. 2.. Really a matter of opinion at this level. LSA play’s a big part.. 114 is good… 110 is more radical idle but more power, 118 is no good at bottom end power but great idle manners with a little more kick up past 5000 rpm.

So a stage 1 cam won’t hurt the low end?

  • @vikenlink

Not at all…. A stage 1 cam will increase torque and horsepower throughout the RPM range of your LS. It’s probably the best compromise between loosing drivability and power… you won’t loose drivability and gain 50-60 hp depending on other mods.. like headers cold air intake and so on.

They probably ran the factory LS3 and the cam on the same dyno, on the same day, with the same dyno header instead of log manifolds. ---Whenever you look into LS3 cams, you can generally expect 520 crank by the time it's installed in the car. The coyote cars are the same way. Their valve sizes are within 5% of each other. --This is a nice cam. Better everywhere. The bubble from 4000 to 5800 is a lot of fun and keeps you from blowing the engine by trying to throw more RPM into it.

I have a BTR Stage 2 N/A LS3 cam.. specs out at 225.5@50 intake and 238@50 exhaust…with a 113 LSA. Lift is about the same as the Texas speed Stage 1 cam. I have 11.5:1 compression using the rectangle port LS heads milled to 68 cc . I think I’m a little under cammed running it on my 416 LS3 Stroker…. The Engine is in my 81 Restomod Trans Am backed up with a 3000 rpm stall and 4L70E automatic 308 gears , Talk about a torque monster with a very slight noticeable idle…i know there’s more power locked up in the 416. I want to step up to a 234-236@50 intake and 246@50 on the exhaust with a 113 LSA. What cam would Texas Speed suggest for a daily driver with good drivability ?

I think I’m gonna stick with the cam that I have… The BTR Stage2 225/238@50 stepping up to a stage 3 around 231/242 in/ex @50 would just most likely kill daily drivability maybe not so much in a 416 stroker but definitely in a stock LS3 , I’d expect to loose about 20-30hp below 3000rpm and gain 30 hp at 6800rpm with stock displacement 376 ci . Well since I’m using my car with the 416 ci as a daily rocket and normally stay below 3000rpm. Stage 2 is just fine. I’d rather keep the coins in me pocket for something more important.😎
