Texas Ignition Interlock Device| Car Breathalyzer Ignition Interlock System | Austin DWI Lawyer

Austin Criminal Defense Attorney Charlie Roadman demonstrates how the Texas ignition interlock device, specifically the Smart Start Ignition Interlock Device, functions. As a criminal defense attorney, Roadman provides a thorough walkthrough of using the device in his personal vehicle. The device, which is a breathalyzer connected to a car's ignition system, requires the driver to provide a breath sample that meets Texas's legal limits to start the car. It includes features for tracking driving hours and alcohol consumption, allowing the car to start only if the driver's Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) is below 0.02%. The device is designed to prevent drunk driving by locking the vehicle if it detects alcohol, requiring a zero BAC sample to restart.

Thanks for this video. I must install one (I'm in Massachusetts), still deciding on which one to go with...this or the Drager IID. My state requires an IID for two full years after reinstatement of your license. The longest time in the country. :(

I had numerous problems with mine, and ended up getting "locked out" more than once, but not due to failures. I eventually found out if you leave the thing unplugged and roll start your manual shifted car, you can get around it. I did a lot of parking facing downhill.

+Dr. Gonzo Leaving "the thing unplugged" would probably be registed and therefore reported to the authorities, right?

+Sherly Marx yea i had a hard time at the start too. you just gotta not worry about blowing. just make a "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" sound without putting youre mouth over it loud. and then mimic that exact motion but with your mouth over the mouthpiece. you'll get it

i do not agree with what you are doing here. are you curious about the lifestyle of someone with an IID? Theres nothing curious about it and I really did not like this video. I know i can just skip it, but I want you to know that this is not a joke. this thing sucks and really inconveniences your life. try doing it because of a conviction instead of for fun and see how much fun you have.

I actually just got mine installed today, yeah it sucks but im just happy i can drive again. I think this video is one of the most informative ones out there as to the day to day of it. 2 years is going to feel like a long time and it sucks but nothing i can do about it. I wish there was a way i could appeal the DMV to get it removed sooner if i dont fuck up. I dont even drink anymore haha. But as far as the video goes, he did acknowledge that it would feel much different if it were court ordered im not sure why that makes you upset.

There isn't anything that's funny from this video. The person shown is a criminal defense attorney, doing an experiment on interlock devices + how ineffective it can be at times.
