Texas GameDay Final (vs Arkansas Razorbacks)

Спорт

Tough loss!
Too bad this game wasn't played during the 2009 season when it was originally scheduled for, as Arkansas at that time backed out and requested to reschedule for a future date.

Texas could’ve put whoever they wanted a QB and they weren’t winning that game. Arkansas left tons of points on the field. They slowed down to milk clock and knelt at the end. Could’ve dropped 50+.

Texas has a good team, their game was just out matched in this game. Arkansas didn't get lucky, they didn't just come out to play. Arkansas is a great team. They will give Georgia a run for their money in a few weeks and I can easily see Arkansas pull off the upset over A&M next Saturday.

I agree with 50 +. But I do believe Casey brought a spark offensively. Card misfired on a few plays where he had receivers open. Arkansas O-line MAULED the LongHorn’s D-Line so I think either qb is an L, maybe it wouldn’t have looked as bad.

  • @Zack-yl1qf

@@KSlayZZ Easily could've been the same score. Casey got the same look every play and found the holes. Hudson however was not getting the same look from the defense every play. Arkansas also played a lot of guys in the 4th that didn't play the first 3 quarters. I think it was a mixture of both as to why Casey looked that much better than Hudson. I don't think he's actually that much better. Hudson also had a dropped TD early that might've dictated how he played the rest of the game. Which will occasionally happen with young talents like Card.

Texas coulda started Tom Brady, they still get blown out. They couldn't stop the run, they couldn't establish the run. In the SEC if you can't do those two things, you can't win. Beyond the line play where you got your QB getting sacked by a 3 man rush. Ark physically dominated Texas in every facet and every phase, including the coin toss. The game wasn't even as close as the scoreboard suggested. Several conservative play calls in the Redzone, prevent D in the 3rd and 4th Quarter allowing Texas to move the ball, albeit slowly. Kneeling the ball after a 1st and Goal. Texas truly needs an attitude adjustment.

Doesn't matter when Casey went in. They gave up 333 yards on the ground. Arkansas scored 24 in the second half and was knocking on the door of 31 before taking a knee at the ten. They could've easily scored 47. So Casey could've started and played lights out all night but the rush defense is so bad, Arkansas wins that game 9 times out of 10. They bent without breaking in the first half. But the second half was dismal at best. You cant win if you don't stop the other team from scoring. Casey Thompson is not the difference between winning and losing this game.

I also think it's safe to assume they wouldn't drop 8 into coverage every play like they did for the last quarter and a half. Since they didn't do it every play when Card was in there. I don't think they were suddenly over defending the pass because of the QB switch. But rather because they we're winning by 3 scores. Casey got the same look on every single down. It's hard to say one QB could've made it closer based on garbage time.

  • @jordanharrison8769

@@jcas98jc Not unless you started a different O-line. Casey didn't see NEAR the same defense that Card did. Prevent D allowed Texas to move the ball slowly. It made them chew up clock and wouldn't allow the quick strike that would have been the way Texas could catch up. Not to mention, Coming in for the 4th quarter when half the team is ready to go celebrate already, and the other half are on tired legs, being fresh makes a big difference. Let Casey get hit down after down by 320 "Fridgeway" a few times and his pep would fade from his step quickly. This game wasn't even as close as the scoreboard let on. Casey wouldn't have been that much of a difference maker if he started.

Nothing against Card. But Thompson has the will. You see it. This is the biggest win Arkansas will have all season most likely. The razorbacks deserved this win, the Longhorns need to go back and need a better plan. One loss as ugly as it turned out. Doesn’t define their season. You can't give up on a player just because of 1 freaking game. Texas fans think they should be like Bama. Guess what? You are not and probably never will be. Need to take your time and give the coach and the players some time to develop. Imagine doing every player like that, you wouldn't hardly have a team. Everyone has a bad game. It's a learning experience for him.

@@tawtam1 lol saying Texas should not be getting blown out by an Arkansas team that was 3-7 last year is not anywhere near saying “we should be as good as bama”. Those are two entirely different scenarios and shows that you have no idea what Texas fans are thinking right now but rather following the lazy narrative on fan message boards. Sark could end up working out at Texas - we’ll have to wait and see. But losing to an unranked team that has been a doormat in their own league by 19 points, when the last coach never lost to any team by that much in 4 seasons on the job, is definitely cause for palpable concern.

Let's compare. Charlie kicked 9 starters off the team to gain some continuity with the team and Texas ONLY gave the man 3 years when you handed him a dumpster fire. He is a way better coach than given credit for. White people in Texas didn't want him anyway. That program needs a coach for at least 4-5 years and in his case were he had basically nothing after kicking those arrogant ass hole starters off the team he needed more. It would have taken nothing less than a miracle for him to have turned the program around to arrogant Texas fans expectations. Just like that fan base thought they would beat Arkansas by at least 21 points.

  • @asics1149

    @asics1149

    2 жыл бұрын

@@tawtam1 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA you lost all credibility when you said Charlie was a “way better coach than we gave him credit for”. Dude - he lost to Kansas and routinely lost by multiple touchdowns. No one asked him to kick players off the team, but he was so confident it would work out that he did anyway. Then, he said toward the end of his first season at texas (2014) “this program will never lose 5 games again” and proceeded to lose 7 games each season including a loss to Kansas in 2016 and a blowout to Iowa state in 2015. If he was such a good coach, how come he’s not coaching now? How come he took over a 10+ win USF team and turned them into a 4-8 team by his 3rd year? Did USF fire him because the “white people didn’t want him anyway”? He turned the program around alright: he made it worse. And he’s literally got the worst win % in Texas football coaching history. Literally 27th out of 27. And it wasn’t just Texas fans that thought we would win last Saturday. Literally everyone on ESPN, fox, etc. also picked Texas. That’s why this is so disappointing. But you already knew that and are taking the lazy “well, they were mean to Charlie” argument because you don’t know what you’re talking about. But I expect nothing less from someone with an Arkansas education 😂
