Harris County is the largest county in Houston and has done a great job in these situations. dan patrick and many other "good ole boys" with money and influence wants control of downtown Houston and this is just another way of them trying to get her out and put their guy in. It's already been done with whitmire who ran as a Democrat but is clearly a republican plant put in place to make Harris County red because it's actually purple so there are limits to what they can do

I hope you're just as outraged at the lady whose whole house burned down because of Centerpoint's negligence or the people dying of heatstroke.

PUC needs to investigate why Centerpoint energy cares more about profits than its customers health and safety. This was a Cat 1 with light flooding early in the season. Centerpoint has had 20+ years of max profits, the bare minimum should be a complete overhaul of the patched up grid in Houston on centerpoint’s dime.

I watched today's PUC Hearing in Austin.. They were "sending thoughts & prayers" to those of US effected. They looked nice, well dressed, freshly showered even, sitting in the air conditioned, well-lit Hearing room. How nice for them.

Houston Light and Power before it was CenterPoint used to send out people to cut trees by power lines on a yearly basis what happened to that there hasn't been anybody out here to take care of that in years

Here is the thing. Since the start of April my part of Harris County has had 3 bad storms. First, a very bad electrical storm we didn’t have power for maybe 3 days. Next, we had that tornado. We didn’t have power for 5 days, after that. We didn’t have power for 2 days from the Hurricane. That’s 10 days with no power. We have lost 2 fridge’s full of food. I had just gone grocery shopping in the first two instances. We bought a generator, after the tornado. We can’t stand up to losing more food. No one replaces it. One is on their own. I didn’t even buy cold food this time, just in case. My point? This is 2024 and something is wrong with the electrical grid. I don’t know who is to blame. All I know is that someone needs to investigate it and hold those responsible to the letter of the law. People that can ill afford to lose food are being victimized. It has to stop and things have to change. I’ve watched the Houston Mayor and the Governor and I think they are doing a fabulous job. I’m impressed with the Texas Emergency Director, too. None of this is easy. We too have learned something new, after each storm.

Lord have Mercy. I completely agree with Your 1st paragraph. I lost 3 fridges full of Food, & this time depleted alot of my "Storm Supplies" of canned Foods & bottled Water. While I have appreciated the Houston mayor throughout this latest crisis, I was completely shocked at the "ACTING gov" dan patrick, today. I watched the 1hr presser in Austin LIVE .. he was arrogant, condescending, dismissive, & misleading. HE was the only 1 "POLITICIZING" this disaster. While over a million PEOPLE in HOUSTON were without power (& many w/o Water) for the 4th day, 100°+ heat indexes, patrick said, "We're GOOD.." & "WE don't NEED Joe Biden's generators!" He threw alot of blame & accusations around. Never heard him take ANY responsibility, or express REAL CONCERN for fellow Texans suffering & struggling & losing HOPE. I was stunned at his lack of awareness & COMPASSION. & I felt sad & insulted. He thinks Texans are stupid. Wishing You & Yours the best, as We meet these challenges. Take Care. ✌🏼💙✊🏼💙🙏🏼💙🐾

I also think that he’s feeling the stress, worry, and downright angry how the press is portraying everything. Can you imagine working 12-16 hour days and all you hear and see are lies about everything? He’s trying to get everything the people of Texas need, but is being met with resistance. He was almost crying about that young deputy that was gunned down. Our peace officers are hurting. I’ve talked to Harris County Deputies. They feel underpaid, left out, and downright abused by their superiors and by the Harris County DA and management. I was told that they arrest criminals and the DA refuses the charges, so they have to let them go. The County Judge is power hungry, mean, and acts superior. Look at how she acts at the funerals of our fallen peace officers. She puts herself over their families. Those families deserve nothing but respect. In my opinion, the ones you need to direct your ire to is the upper management of Centerpoint. The lineman are doing their best, but the upper Management chose not to make the infrastructure improvements. It’s money over people with them. I read an article the other day that said they were already being fined for inappropriate practices. So, it’s just business as usual for them. They have even had the nerve to apply for a rate hike. They also want money for the repairs from the tornado. I think they need to be on their own. They chose not to improve things. That’s on them and their management. I read the CEO makes $1.1 Million dollars per year. Plus, you know he’s not sitting in the heat with spoiled food. God Bless you and I hope things improve for you, quickly. As to the generator situation, he explained that in this video. None of those generators could have gone directly to the citizens and they take forever to get in place and up running. I’ve seen the generators that are running the traffic lights. I didn’t know they were from the Emergency Management agency. That’s good to know.
